I am 67. I will tell you what I did. Hopefully that will help you.I got married in 1975 at the age of 26 and my wife was 21.She was a science graduate (BSc)After marriage she found she was free for most of the day with nothing to do while I was away in the office.Modern amusements like TV, Computers, and Internet were not available those days.We lived happily but with nothing to do all day, I could sense there was a lacuna.She wanted to work, I knew it. I encouraged her. With a BSc degree but no experience, I asked her not be too hopeful but we were proactive in looking for opportunities. There was a school nearby and they needed teachers for the Nursery, LKG and UKG sections.(B.Ed was not needed those days for Pre-school) We went to casually enquire whether we could help. Right in the first visit, we came away with an appointment letter!The school was desperately looking for people like my wife. She had to work just half a day. She had the entire afternoon for rest, recreation and her hobbies. The money wasn’t much. For half the working hours I put in she got one fourth of my salary. It was a proud day for her when I took her to the bank to open her first Bank Account with a cheque book.Note: I did not ask my parents or in-laws for ‘permission’. I merely informed them.Two years passed. She had a great time with the tots. Some of them are big shots today and they still behave like shy little boys when we occasionally meet them. They know my wife can embarrass them a lot by narrating stories of their mischief as kids.Then she got pregnant with my daughter. I helped her prolong the job for as long as possible. A month or two before the due date, she resigned, without my asking her to do so. We had our baby and for the next four years she was a happy homemaker, doting over our little daughter.I missed the extra income of course but the satisfaction of knowing that my daughter was in the best hands all day, with her own mother looking after her, was a great consolation.When my daughter started going to school, we faced the same problem. My wife had nothing to do all day. One day the Banking Services Recruitment Board’s ad appeared prominently in the newspapers, asking for applications for post of Clerks in hundreds of branches all over the state. She would have to appear for a competitive exam. She was a little diffident, but I encouraged her. It was I who took leave that day, rushed to their office on the last day, for the application form, and filled it up myself and hurried home to get her signature, photo, copies of her certificates etc and then rushed back to drop the application just an hour before closing time on the last day at the office of the Recruitment Board. The rest is history. She got the job and held on to it for 19 years till she finally opted for Voluntary retirement.Yes, of course, there were some occasional minor problems due to her being away between 10 am and 5 pm on some days. We found solutions to them.Note: I did not ask my parents or in-laws if I could send her out for a job.I just read out your question to my wife and asked her opinion.She dismissed it and said ‘If you had been like that I would not have married you”Now please decide what you want to do. I will not say anything.Please note that I belong to another generation. We are supposed to be orthodox in our thinking. So I may not be a role model for you. I will write what silly thing I said in an absent minded moment.My grandson had completed 18 years on 25th December 2017. After completion of 18 years, he had to renew his Adhar cardFor such renewal he had to submit a written application in Adhar office. But he was returning to his college before that date.“ You can give a blank paper signed. We will write whatever is required and submit” said my daughter.“ Yes,it is a good idea. Pradyu, your birthday is on 25th December. So on December 26th you sign on a blank paper and send us by post” I said.When my grandson and daughter started to laugh loudly, I realized my mistake.“ Ammamma for signing on a blank paper I think I need not complete 18 years.
