As a private individual insurance purchaser, if you want this covered, you have to buy it.Medicare Advantage in most areas covers a really small amount annually and in some Med Advantages, none at all. Furthermore, you're paying for additional insurance to cover the gaps of MA. You need at least a Hospital Indemnity policy or you're out 1200–1500 for a 5 day hospital visit.Another responder noted going to AARP. As an insurance agent, in most areas of the country AARP and BCBS are the most popular plans, but tend to be the most expensive. FL, AZ and a couple of other states they're competitive, and that's it. For Medicare Supplements, Plans are standardized by law. So you're overpaying for benefits that you can get the exact same coverage, doctors, and payouts elsewhere. AARP is in the business of making money, by “advocating” for seniors.Use an Independent Insurance agent. They know the marketplace and can sell you almost any plan, including AARP/UHC if it's the best one for you.
