Transaction Slip: Fill & Download for Free

Credit cards in the UK have had chip n pin for over a decade - when you do a credit card transaction you pop in your pin number just the same as when you use your debit card. I was absolutely astonished after moving to Canada the first time I used my credit card and I was transported back in time with a slip to sign. Now my Canadian issued Mastercard is updated to chip n pin but I still often get asked to sign a transaction slip when the retailer doesn't have the appropriate technology. Talk about 21st century.

You can get your ATM ID on the transaction slip and then with that ATM ID, I would suggest you to Google and find out the branch. It would be easier and less time consuming rather than personally going to branch.In case, if you don't have the transaction slip, then you can send a mail either to branch or to your concerned banks internet banking department , to provide you the bank details with respect to your specific transaction.

Online and ATM frauds are on a rise and police is not able to do much even if you are not at fault.What will happen if in case you yourself handover your ATM card and PIN to a stranger?Something similar happened with me. This answer is about how I was able to catch the ‘stranger’ and get my money back within 1 hour of the incident!This happened over 6 years ago in Delhi at an area called Rohini. To give you a background, during those days, in ATM’s of many banks, we had to insert our ATM card in the machine, punch in the ATM pin and were able to do multiple transactions. Now the situation is different as in most ATM’s you have to swipe your card and punch in the ATM pin for every single transaction.Now I come to the actual incident. I had to take my sister for few medical tests and went to a HDFC Bank ATM at a complex near our home. I withdrew few thousand rupees and in the hurry, forgot to take my card back with the pin punched in. This meant that the person coming after me had full access to my account and could have even withdrawn money.After about 15-20 minutes I got an SMS stating that my card has been used to purchase petrol at a nearby fuel station. I immediately realised that I must have forgotten the card in the machine as I was not used to do transactions on HDFC ATM’s.I called the customer care and got the card blocked and also got to know that another cash withdrawal transaction had taken place, on my card, from the same ATM.I gathered my wits and remembered that the fuel station involved used to note down the vehicle number if the transaction was done through a card. I was nearby and rushed back to the scene of incident. The complex where the ATM was located, is next to the fuel station (were the purchase happened) and there is a police station also next to the fuel station.I straightaway went to the police station and explained them the situation. There first reaction was that now nothing can happen and you file a report on which they may take action. I went to a senior officer, introduced myself as working in a news media house and told him about the incident. I also told him that the fuel station keeps a record of the car number plate, in case the payment is through a card. I insisted that they send someone with me to get that record from the fuel station.It required a lot of convincing they agreed and I went to the fuel station with a policeman. It took a bit of efforts but we were able to identify the transaction slip related to my case. The fuel station attendant also recalled that the person had deliberately scribbled on the car number on the transaction slip while signing but the attendant had again written it down after he left.I went to get a photocopy of the slip and as I came back I saw a teenager with his mother at the fuel station claiming that he used a wrong card for making payment and has come back to make amend.We took them to the police station and both of them claimed innocence about withdrawing money from the ATM. They said that they got the card from the ATM floor and kept it to return it. The teenager claimed that he used my card by mistake at the fuel station as all HDFC ATM cards look same.The teenager’s mother stated that they belong to very good family, have very high ethical standards, the kid is from good school and college and they have big business so will not indulge in such a crime. She basically was creating a scene and trying to get sympathy from police. I saw that the debate was going nowhere.I requested the police officer to let me talk for a minute. I told the teenager:I belong to a big news media houseI have called my reporters and OB vanEvery ATM has a CCTVWe will get the footage from the ATM which will show that you were behind me in the ATM queueDid transaction after me, which could have only happened after you take my card outYou deliberately tried to strike off the car number from the transaction slipAnd finally all this will be in the evening prime time news along with you and your mother’s clipWithout even blinking an eye, he took out the 10000/- rupees from his pocket and kept the bundle on the table.Seeing this, his mother started another drama. She started crying, cursed her son, gave an emotional lecture on how he has let her family down, shattered her trust and shamed her upbringing. She even started to fake a chest pain and requested to be rushed to a hospital.We finally allowed them to leave after taking the money used to purchase fuel and a written apology. I thought not to file a case as it would have spoilt the teenager’s future. I somewhere felt that I was also at fault as I forgot to take the card back which tempted that ‘stranger’ to misuse my card.Even today I feel happy that I was able to keep calm, use my presence of mind during a stressful time to get my money back in less than 1 hour of the incident.
