In Vietnam at the Chùa Trấn Quốc temple, West Lake, Hanoi. What is the significance of the statues of seated monks in a detached room and building?
Tran Quoc Pagoda (國寺 國寺) is located on an island on the East of West Lake (Tay Ho District), the 1500 year-old pagoda is considered the oldest in Thang Long - Hanoi. The pagoda architecture has a harmonious combination of ancient elegance and elegance with the serene landscape of the tranquility of a vast lake. It was the Buddhist center of the Thang Long citadel in the Ly and Tran dynasties. With its historical and architectural values, Tran Quoc Pagoda is famous for its sacred Buddha's door, which attracts many Buddhists and visitors to Vietnam.According to the Vietnamese cultural heritage dictionary (Ha Noi, 1993), the Tran Quoc Pagoda is the Khai Quoc Pagoda, dating back to the Ly Dynasty (Ly Nam De, 541-547), in Y Hoa village, near the Red River. . During the Lê Trung Hưng Dynasty (1615), the pagoda was moved into Yen Phu dyke, built on the ancient foundation of Thuy Hoa (Ly dynasty) and Han Nguyen (Tran dynasty). In 1624, 1628 and 1639, the pagoda continued to be restored and expanded. Nguyen Xuan Chinh wrote poems written at the temple in 1639 for this embellishment work. Early in the Nguyen Dynasty, the temple was restored, cast bell, statue. In 1821, King Minh Mang visited the pagoda, offering 20 taels of silver to repair. In 1842, King Thieu Tri visited the pagoda, donated a large gold coin and 200 francs, renaming the temple Tran Bac. But the name Tran Quoc Pagoda dates from the reign of King Le Hy Tong has been known to people until today.Tran Quoc Pagoda is located on a single island of the largest freshwater lake in Hanoi. In the Hai Ba Trung period (40 - 43), the area around the West Lake is very sparsely populated, with small and medium caves and forest cover, and there are also rare species of rare animals. Along the thousands of years of existence of the temple, the landscape here is now completely different. The lake is surrounded by big roads, villas and modern buildings. On the one hand, they represent the overall perfection of the city's architecture, but on the other hand accidentally breaks down the historical landscape and Spirituality in the conception of life of the indigenous population.Above the pagoda door, there are three words "Phương Phương" and "hai" in Vietnamese:The horse carriage through the passage / Open the river side meditation doorLike most other temples in Vietnam, the structure and interior of Tran Quoc Pagoda are arranged in order and strictly Buddhist principles. There are three main class houses with three main houses: the front porch, the incense burner and the upper hall connecting the Cong (工) shape.Money front to the west. Both sides of the incense burner and the upper hall are two corridors. After the mantra is a steeple. The bell tower is a three-storey, matched roof, located on the main hall axis.On the right is the nest house and on the left is the beer house. The temple currently holds 14 stela. On the inscription in 1815, Dr. Pham Quy Thich's article mentions the remodeling of the pagoda after a long and dilapidated period. This work began in 1813 and ended in 1815.Behind the pagoda are some ancient tower tombs dating back to the reign of Vinh Huu and Canh Hung (18th century). The pagoda was built in 1998 with the Chedi Chedi tower. The large chedi consists of 11 storeys, 15m high. Each tower has six arched doorways, each with a statue of Amitabha Buddha in precious stones. The top of the tower has a nine-storey lotus (also called the interflow) as well as precious stones. This pyramid was erected symmetrically to the great bodhi tree donated by the President of India when he visited Hanoi in 1959. Thich Thanh Nha, a member of the governing council of the Buddhist Church of Vietnam, National, explained the symmetry that: "The lotus symbolizes the Buddha's foot, as the birth under the mud without being unclean." Bodhi is the mind, the supreme wisdom. The essence and phenomena of dhammas ".The temple was recognized as a National Cultural History Monument in 1989.However, due to many restorations, repairing the architecture of the pagoda has not been distracted architectural style of the period:In the years 1624, 1628 and 1639 (the Lord Trinh), the temple was restored, expanded.During the Tây So) n period, in the context of the Late Le dynasty's power dispute in Vietnam history, the temple was in ruins, when local residents requested repairs to the temple. The largest restoration was in Hoi year, the Gia Long 14 (on the epitaph of Tran Quoc Island self-reliance was written by Dr. 1779 Pham Lap Trai). In 2010, renovations to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi and the sixth World Buddhist Summit held in Vietnam in November 2010. The estimated cost of this renovation is 15 billion VND [2].In the epitaph "Reconstructing Tran Quoc Tu dich bi" by Pho Hoi Doctor in 40 th year, he praised: "Standing on the high view of the pagoda, cradle of water, The bell of the temple call anyone dreaming mundane ... Has Trump's latest lie to Trudeau destroyed the United States' credibility with our allies?
From the point of view of a Canadian it's a little more complex than that. Canadians do not tend to believe that Donald Trump is the same as the United States of America. It is useful to remember that, compared to most other foreigners, Canadians, particularly English-speaking ones, get a lot more detailed and more nuanced information about the USA. Much of this is obtained directly from American news sources. The domestic US version of CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and PBS are available almost everywhere here and are frequently provided in standard cable and satellite packages. Also, we make day trips and holiday junkets to the USA. Canadians do a huge amount of business with US companies. We meet lots of Americans who prize honesty, are reliable and are fact-based in their approach to problems.Lots of Canadians have family in the USA. My family in New York and Florida are pretty honest people.Even before this latest incident, Donald Trump had next to no credibility in Canada. We see his revolving door Cabinet, so his individual Cabinet members don't either. We see this sort of silliness from the White House. This article is from the Halifax Chronicle Herald. It is their property. I am providing the link for information purposes only:http://thechronicleherald.ca/business/1553150-trumps-new-economic-aide-loves-trade-with-canada-calls-trudeau-crazy-lefty“A former Wall Street analyst and current cable-TV personality, Larry Kudlow was named Wednesday as the new director of the White House National Economic Council.”“His view of the prime minister? That's another story.”''Unfortunately we're going after a major NAFTA ally. Perhaps America's greatest ally. Namely, Canada,'' Kudlow said on CNBC, discussing possible tariffs two weeks ago.”''Even with this left-wing crazy guy Trudeau ... they're still our pals. Why are we going after them?''It is nice of Larry Kudlow to speak so kindly about us but, flinging out nonsense about the Canadian Prime Minister (Justin Trudeau is a well-off member of the Montreal elite. He has investment portfolios for heaven's sake! He is definitely a top-downer, in the time-honoured Canadian tradition.) makes him and the White House look even more ridiculous. We also note that he is in near total disagreement with Donald Trump and Robert Lighthizer. How many weeks shall we give him before he gets flung out the White House back door?Bestowing Political Happiness on Prime Minister Trudeau and the Liberal Party of CanadaDonald Trump proudly admitted to a US audience that he was making up facts when he was speaking with Justin Trudeau. That is, he was lying.International affairs are not normally conducted at the confidence level of a dubious used car dealer. However, in this case, it will help the Liberal government a lot.2019 is a federal election year in Canada. Our NAFTA negotiations with the USA stand to be a major or maybe the major issue in the campaign. Some members of the Conservative Party (Her Majesty's Official Opposition) have been complaining that Canada should be more accommodating to US demands, because otherwise the US will withdraw from the negotiations and cancel US participation in NAFTA. However, Donald Trump has pushed this Conservative campaign plank right out the Canadian window. I can just imagine the sound bite for the Liberal campaign advertisement, Donald Trump proudly proclaiming his lying abilities to a campaign fund-raiser in Missouri. And, there's Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party, boldly standing up to a bullying liar who never had any intention of bargaining in good faith. America can withdraw from NAFTA and the Liberals will win a comfortable majority.Vindictiveness Works in Canadian PoliticsCanada is a pioneer of niceness. We don't like direct conflicts here. However, Canadians get irritated just like anybody else. How shall we deal with this? Vindictive revenge works. We hear the Trump Administration demanding a new NAFTA agreement within six weeks. After that is the Mexican Presidential election and the US midterm campaign. That is not negotiating time for them although Canadians don't need to care.Six weeks? As we might say in Winnipeg, oh, cummon, eh!The Canadian news media have explained to those of us Canadians who bother with the news, only a few NAFTA chapters have been completed. Canada has just been through two excruciating trade negotiations, with the European Union and the other countries of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. We know, free trade negotiations are extremely intricate and take forever. And, there is another Canadian cultural factor which again favours that Liberal Party of Canada parliamentary majority. If I could give any single piece of advice about how to deal with a Canadian, never rush a Canadian! Canadians have an almost ancestral memory of Scottish lairds, English factory foremen, French and German counts, Russian Boyars, Italian nobility, etc., giving orders to our ancestors and enforcing heavy, rushed work. The Trump Administration, trying to bully Canada into rushing, is a collective Boyar. Some agile stalling from the Liberal Government will go down well with Canada's electorate. And, we take our time and the six weeks run out. What will Donald Trump do? Cancel NAFTA? Various big-time Americans have told him what will happen, particularly to campaign donations, just as the USA approaches election time. Yes Canada and Mexico will get hurt but the USA will lose a lot of jobs as supply chains shut down and Canada and Mexico raise tariffs on US goods and services. So, should the Trump administration give in to Canada's non-negotiable NAFTA demands? (Even a crazy, left-libber can think some Canadian demands up.) Or, do we see the US administration having to suspend negotiations for a year or so? For the Liberal Party of Canada this would be sweet victory. Canada's national news commentators will have great difficulty not to giggle when they report it. And, think of the Liberal campaign posters, “We stopped them in their tracks!” How better to vanquish the Conservative Party of Canada, plus the other, littler parties in the House of Commons! We'll Get Over It, But Everybody Else?Canadians remember their pleasant holiday trips to Palm Springs, Brownsville-Harlingen, Myrtle Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Sooner or later, The Donald will tell his last lie and his Cabinet revolving door will close. Or, if we Canadians are lucky, not just Pennsylvania, but everywhere, will give in, vote Democratic and the Democratic Party will control both houses of Congress. We will then negotiate with much less silly Americans and we will still remember that many Americans deal honourably and honestly. However, what about those other aliens who don't get to go on cheap gambling junkets to Las Vegas or dine out on senior's specials alongside the dog tracks and Jai-Alai courts of Miami Beach? Some of those foreign folks think that Donald Trump actually is America, that is, a very rich, thoroughly dishonest representative, of Redneck spring break. That impression will not go away so quickly. At this point some Canadians would derive pleasure at seeing Donald Trump and his on and off Cabinet twisting themselves in the wind. However, we also know this pleasure will give us a nasty hangover. We need the USA to have credibility, not just with us but with the world in general. Most Canadians do not want to see Vladimir Putin and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the People's Republic of China, being seen as more straight up than the United States Government. We don't want the European Union, the TPP partnership, India, Brazil, Mexico and most everywhere else take on that world view. That is definitely not good for us. If anything, if we can possibly can, we will want to help the USA to heal and be credible again.Martin Levine
Although I am more right leaning in my beliefs, I have a great disdain for the antics that go on both sides of the political arena. Should I become non partisan?
I voted Democrat for around 25 years. I live in a completely Democrat controlled state, county, and city. I work in one of the most progressive cities in the country. It wasn’t always that way though. When I was younger there was law and order, San Francisco was the gleaming jewel of the west that it is portrayed as in the movies. California was run by Republicans then. Now it’s a shithole. Literally shit and piss everywhere. I am not making this up. Children being led around needles and people shooting up on the sidewalk. Homeless people attacking tourists for not giving them enough money. Police ignore the drug use and any theft below $900 (as it’s a misdemeanor) but rigorously enforce anti vaping laws. Saw a homeless person lay a giant shit log in the BART station in the morning. It was still there at 4 in the afternoon. No one’s job? Escalators are always broken, the piss from the bums sleeping on it at night continually rust them. Last time I was in the city everything was either out of business or boarded up because of rioting.I live in Oakland, one of the most racially diverse cities in the country and for most of my time alive, run by black people. Rioters looted all the stores on Lakeshore. What did the Chinese computer store have to do with racism? What did the burger place owned by immigrants do? It doesn’t make any sense. Now remember, I’ve been voting Democrat since Clinton’s first term (the Mr., not the Mrs.) I’ve always been told that Republicans are racist, they hate me, they get all their money from corrupt billionaires. They tell me I can’t be trusted with a gun but they can have private security and concealed carry permits for themselves and the politically connected. Diane Feinstein actually said on TV, she needs a gun to protect herself but we normal citizens don’t.Then I hear that a SF city council man is being arrested by the FBI for running machine guns with the Triad mafia. Wait, I know that guy, he’s always on the news talking about gun control and how we can’t be trusted…Then I find out that Wall Street gives to Democrats 2–1 compared to Republicans and it’s been this way for at least a decade. Our career politicians are getting rich at about the rate of doubling their networth every year. “Smart investing” the media tells me. More like insider trading. The Clinton foundation gets $300 million from a Chinese donor. “Humanitarian donation” they tell me. Hillary loses her election against Trump, the Clinton foundation suddenly has no more donors. The sheriff that campaigned on not allowing anyone to own guns because we’re all evil can’t carry a gun himself because of domestic violence issues. His lawyer? The only person he approved for a concealed carry license. WTF? He actually gets his gun rights back after losing his re-election. A normal citizen can’t do that unless they are super rich. But the media tells me how evil the Republicans are? They are racist and hate me. But wait, the only people who have ever been racist against me are Democrats. A little bit of a time warp here but Rodney King happens, some kids come to my school and kick the shit out of a white kid next to me in the bathroom. I’m brown so they don’t mess with me till I try to step in. Get a lump on my head. The kid is Jewish and had wanted to be a civil rights attorney. They kicked all his teeth out. I walked him to the office as his mouth streamed blood. The faculty had locked themselves inside their building.I drive across the country to go to Yellowstone. Little one intersection towns. Nicest people I have ever met. No one is racist to me… I see PoC everywhere. I thought fly over country was white people who marry their sisters? That’s what the media tells me.We have the highest taxes in the country with near the bottom education and the worst roads in the country. Cal-trans does the 4 guys standing around thing while 1 guy digs. Cartoons are reality. Why? Always asking for more money to repair the roads, fix education through bonds. They are never denied. The guy who’s job it is to clean up the city was just fired for taking kick backs from vendors. City homeless advocates tell us that the reason we spend $35million a year on the homeless problem and it never gets better and in fact gets much much worse, is because the city council is giving the contracts to their friends and relatives. Nothing better than a problem you don’t try to fix. Poopmap is invented. 80% of San Francisco is covered in thousands of reports of human shit. Someone finds a 35 pound bag of human shit dropped on the side walk. Were they collecting it? For how long?Government employees strike all the time and have mandatory donations to California Democrats. They are some of the highest paid workers in the state and they can’t be fired. When they retire some of them make more money that when they were working. My friend works for BART. Tells me how the engineers are reporting as much over time as they want since no one watches them. Workers have places they park their trucks to sleep during shift. His track team works 3 hours a day and plays X-box and Playstation at the beginning and the end of their shift since they can’t do anything while the trains are running. They work all the over time they can because the multipliers are crazy. BART is always asking for more money to improve “aging equipment.” Then they strike every couple of years. Some engineers making $450K a year.Teachers unions always complaining about how much money they make. Work 9 months a year. Highest paid in the nation. Worst results. Strike… Mandatory donations to Democrats. All these government workers are paid through the state pension fund. Democrats promise to raise the pensions every time the unions ask. Pension fund is impossibly underfunded. Economy takes a dive like now? They have to tax us more to make up for the short fall or the house of cards comes tumbling down.People are leaving the state since work at home is becoming the new norm. Real estate prices collapse. Gavin Newsome suggests a wealth leaving tax. Before you can move your money out of state they are going to take a chunk of it.California is the gold standard for anti Gerrymandering. Wait, the Democrats sent political agents to pose as local citizens in order to rig the redistricting committee? The media’s excuse? “Well both sides could do it.” The Republican’s didn’t.Remember the media? Barely a peep about any of this. They are all in on it.“Trump is racist! He called the KKK very fine people!” A lie… “He called Mexican’s rapists!” Another lie. I actually voted for Johnson because I “voted my ideals” not thinking Trump could ever win and since California is a winner take all state and always goes Democrat my vote was meaningless anyways. They scream how Hilary won the popular vote for 4 years. “Not my president!” Have to walk past riots on the way to customers when she loses. Don’t these people have jobs? Not going to waste my vote again.I got a $6K bonus from my boss last year because of the tax cuts on my bosses business. But trickle down is a lie right? Think that’s going to happen again? Democrats block stimulus because they want pork for LGBTQ+, bailout state and local governments, hundreds of billions for colleges. Remember how the California pension fund is in danger of imploding? Biden’s first order of business? Cut Trumps tax cuts…We have heard non-stop bullshit from these jerkoffs for my whole life and the media has become more and more corrupt and in bed with them.So two things, when you talk about antics on “both sides,” who is telling you this? Did you verify it yourself? Is it really both sides? How deeply are you looking at these claims? My political compass is Right Libertarian but those guys will never win and my gun rights are hanging by a thread in California, literally, it’s really bad. You need to ensure that becoming non-partisan is going to be the best for yourself and the country. Do you want to live in a Democrat controlled state like I do?Edit:Here’s a state compensation chart the CPC sent me today. How Much do California’s State Workers Make? | California Policy CenterYou see those pensions? Those are the ones that are underfunded and have the politicians scrambling to tax the crap out of us for. It’s also the reason the second stimulus package didn’t pass. Nancy Pelosi wanted to bail out California and the Republican’s said no.
