Within these two weeks, I visited the bank at least 20 times, I’m not even exaggerating. I had to first make an appointment and then give all my details. The manager told me he’ll let me know in a week, if I’m eligible to open an account. I didn’t have a lot of time as I had to give my bank details to my HR for getting me enrolled in this month’s payroll. If not, my salary will be delayed. Inspite of explaining all this, he never emailed me, like he said he would. After going there 3–4 times, I finally got the details.Even after, I opened the account, I didn’t have the credit or debit card. They told me they’ll send the pin for the card via courier, which would reach me in 2 weeks and then, after 1 week, I can get my card. So, I got my card after 3 weeks. Until then, it was a struggle for me. Even to add my mobile number to the bank account, I had to wait for 5 days as they sent the authentication code through courier.In India, this entire process would have taken a maximum of 2 days.Getting an internet connection:In Paris, you apply for the internet connection and then, you get an installation date after 2 weeks. Before that, they send your bbox (wifi equipment) via courier and you can pick it up from one of the delivery points close to your home.
