Depends which country… for example, I (British passport) was once deported from Sudan. I don’t think I have ever been asked about this, and certainly it did not stop me from getting visas for many countries since then: premium countries like India and China; African countries(Benin, Ethiopia); not to mention visa-free entry to the USA and Netherlands.
