A few years ago, I interviewed at a company in London. This was a small bootstrapped business selling physical products from Alibaba to Amazon FBA.They would buy the products from Shenzhen, China. Stamp their brand name and sell it in the UK. The company was roughly bringing in £30,000 per month. I was awed and amazed by this.After my interview, I waited nervously for the call back.No response.I waited for a second day.Again, no response.I decided to text the owner on Whatsapp:“Hey Tim, I didn't hear back from you. Have you made a decision on my application?” I wrote.“Yes, we are not going ahead with your application. Thanks for interviewing.”I was frustrated.But the interview had sparked something in me, an idea, a vision, a sense of possibility…I asked lots of questions in the interview and understood their business model well. Or I thought I did.So, I decided to launch my own.I created an account on Alibaba in 2013, while in my first year at University. I was going to be rich, earning in a month what my parents earned in a year, I believed.I did the market research, studied the best selling products on Amazon in my niche, and decided to sell my own white-labelled products.Soon after launching, I got my first sale, and then my SECOND, and then the third.“I’m going to be rich,” I excitedly would tell myself.Few months went by.. and the sales dropped.I was still paying Amazon for storing my products.I hoped and prayed that things would change.But, prayer and hope are not business strategies.After 6 months, I closed shop.The business failed.I was selling whatever I thought would sell, and in the end, my competitors crushed me.Here are a few first lessons that I learnt in the process:Business require systems to scale and succeedYou need to isolate and identify a market segmentBuilding a strong brand identity is very importantYou MUST offer a unique experience.And last but not least, business is about solving your customers BURNING problem, not what YOU want

..And with what wealth of data and evidence do you have to substantiate your diagnosis?have you done an FBA?have you observed this person in multiple environments, noting their ability to recognize and sense social cues?Have you conducted extensive interviews with parents/caregivers of this person for background and history?Have you examined pediatricians records, or had a licensed LSSP do testing on them as well?Do you know the signs and classical symptoms of Autism?Im a special ed professional who has worked in an autism unit and I know enough to know that even I can't definitively diagnose someone with Autism spectrum disorder.This is something you really need not be sticking your nose into. If you have concerns about your friends functioning in some way( like they are socially awkward) you can suggest different ways of handling situations, but do not profess to make the leap to a diagnosis.
