So as a background, i am a teenager living in the UK and i have a twin brother. I don’t know whether my parents are very strict, but i do know they are stricter than my friend’s parents so here goes:Your bedroom door must never be closed unless you are getting changed. I do like some privacy so when my door is closed,even if i am getting changed, my brother bursts in and never gets told off.SCREEN TIME:THIS IS MY LEAST FAVOURITE RULE. So as Apple have made screen time meaning that parents can monitor how long their kid spends on their phone and on which app, my parents have set a screen time passcode meaning during quarantine and weekends i only can use ONE MINUTE of each app a day before it says to do the passcode which my parents won’t tell me. So i only have one minute of instagram,games,whatsapp etc. On school days, my parents have set this thing so i can only use my phone from 8:40 am to 3:30pm which is when i am at school so i cannot go on my phone at allDepending on my mum’s mood, every saturday or sunday you will get from 15mins to 1 hour on a certain app before apple asks for screen time password.Sometimes i get nothing.I will be ignored for no reason bc my mum isn’t in a good mood. She normally never is as she has rheumatoid athritis and osteoathritis so the pain she is in, she takes out on me. If i ask my mum a simple question like what is for lunch or if she has seen something, i will be ignored.You have to ask to eat something. You cannot just go and take something from the kitchen and you must finish all your lunch which is rice every day and your fruits before you even ask.mYOU WILL ALWAYS BE COMPARED TO YOUR TWIN IN TERMS OF STUDIES UNTIL YOU DIE. My brother most of the time is smarter and ahead of me by a bit but during quarantine and online tests i am beating him which i am proud of. My mum calls me dumb a lot even though i go to a grammar school.If you beat your brother in tuition tests my parents will always make an excuse for him so i never feel proud of myself.No calling or texting any friends EVER. Only to ask for hw is permitted and even then my mum will scream at me for not paying attention in class.No parties or sleepovers till 18. I am in yr9 and have never had or gone to a sleepover and the last time i was allowed to go to a party was yr6.No hanging out with friends till 18 as they will”make you worse than you already are “No TV from mondays to fridays. In the weekends, you get a couple hours a day.No shorts,crop tops,ripped jeans,leggings,skinny jeans till 18.No fake nails or nail polish till 18.NO makeup till 18.NOT ALLOWED TO SPEND MY OWN MONEY FROM FAMILY MEMBERS FOR CHRISTMAS/BIRTHDAYS. I must give to my parents however this year i hid it and wont let them have it.No piercings apart from one in each ear.No friends of opposite gender.Try not to associate with LGBT community however i DONT LISTEN TO THIS bc thats horrible and some of my closest friends are LGBT and so i support them unconditionally.No netflixNo computer gamesNo swearingCant go anywhere alone apart from tuition and shops to buy groceries.No youtube apart from exercise videos.Your phone will be gone through every day and if you spend too long EVEN THOUGH I CAN ONLY USE ONE MINUTE ON EACH APP, YOUR PASSCODE WILL BE CHANGED. This has happened TOO many times now.Your parents must know your passcode.You will be told to do all chores cos your a girl. They think i dont know this when i do.Ok so this is quite hard to say. So throughout the end of yr8 and most of yr9 i felt suicidal and didn’t want to be here due to my family and i just hated them. I dont wanna get into detail why. I felt suicidal every day . I did two depression tests, one from the NHS and both said i was extremely likely to be suffering from depression. I told my parents and they made fun of me, saying i was stupid, should go die,laughed at me,told me off and then said they should abandon me at an asylum. To them mental health doesn’t exist. If it wasn’t for my best friend, i dont think i would still be here.Whenever you are annoying, you will be told that you should’ve been aborted and killed all the time. Thinking back, my brother’s attitude and violence is so bad but he has never been ttold this.Your brother is the favourite child. That is known to everyone.They are racist which i HATE bc they’re brown skinned an have the audacity to be racist and think that the colour of your skin affects your mentality. This leads me to not telling them anythign abt my friends and thsi has also made me hate my parents for this and other reasons. (mostly my mum, my dad doesn’t do much emotionally,physically is a differenty matter)I am asian so punishments i think u guys already know. Btw my mum is in crutches bc of her illness, and that is the worst weapon as metal hurts and weakens your bones a lot. She doesnt hit me with them any more bc i scream and dodge which she thinks is fighting back so they use wooden spoons which don’t really hurt that bad but obviously when sudden, hurt.Thankyou guys for reading this and taking your time. It took me ages to write this so thank you so much. I wouldn’t normally tell strangers this but it’s nice to get everything of my chest.

Children who are raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses enjoy gift giving and receiving of gifts, close family association, and an abundance of fun gatherings all year long. December 25th is really no different for them than December 28th or January 28th. Of course, just as other children are not in school during the holiday breaks, Witness children aren’t either. Their parents and other family members may be off work —perfect time for a family gathering! While other children are opening presents and eating a holiday meal, Witness children could possibly be enjoying time with their families, out in the ministry, or doing what almost all kids love to do, SLEEP LATE.

I’m not in the LDS church, and have never been, but I have friends and family in it currently. Even some who have left it. I do have 30+ years as a Scientologist however. So for what it’s worth, here’s my answer:From what I hear, It’s not the same.The LDS Church views former members as having “lost their way” and the viewpoint is that former members can be contacted about their decision to leave. Nobody stops you or disapproves of you reaching out to a former LDS member on your own. Efforts are made by friends and family to bring the person back into the fold, and there is about as much shunning as if you switched political parties away from what your parents and siblings believe.Leaving is disapproved of heavily and this can really weigh on a person leaving the LDS Church. People leaving find it difficult to decide between letting friends and family down or sticking with it.What happens in Scientology:Harassment happens to those who expose what Scientology is really about.Some really terrible things have happened to members in Scientology that it’s Office of Special Affairs works hard to keep under wraps. Scientology cannot admit any wrong doing. It never goes on the defensive. The Office of Special Affairs in Scientology has clear orders from the founder to “discredit and destroy” any naysayers.Former members or not, if you are not singing Scientology’s praises, you will get harassed. If you are very outspoken you will get harassed more. Attempts will be made to discredit you so you are not listened to. Your livelihood will be attacked. Getting you fired from your job would be a victory for Scientology.But if you are a member and try to openly leave Scientology, harassment isn’t really what happens.It’s more insidious and personal than that.They make a real effort to turn everyone they can against you.So really, it’s all the people you know that are heavily shunning you or just blatantly ignoring you all of the sudden. No chance to tell your side of the story. They wouldn’t believe you over what Scientology said about you anyway.Scientology exerts undue influence on it’s members to stay away from you if you are a former member. Scientologist will not be able to find a former member of Scientology that they are allowed to talk to.For any Scientologists reading this:Most Scientologists won’t read this far. They are compelled to not read anything negative about Scientology. Doing so will get them into trouble. But in case you are a Scientologist who has some free will left, try this:Go out and try to find a former member and talk to them. Ask them why they left.Your “church” doesn’t allow this.It’s against “policy” they will tell you. It’s also against policy for you to tell other members you are leaving. The policy is called “HCOPL Leaving and Leaves” go ahead and Google that while you’r at it.If you really want to rock the boat, go and tell them you are going to talk to a former member and see what their reaction is.The basic right to talk to whoever you want to doesn’t exist in Scientology.Scientology paints former members as evil people.It’s a very black and white “either you’re with us or against us” environment.If you ever decide to leave it, they will contact everyone you know in Scientology and paint a bad picture of you. All your friends and family within Scientology so they will “decide for themselves” to stop talking to you. This is backed up by policies in Scientology labeling you as a “Suppressive Person” with the hard enforced rule that any contact with an “SP” is immediate grounds for being labeled an SP yourselves.They even sell members a course on “how to confront and shatter suppression”. I finished this course 9 times over 30 years.But ironically, after all this training on how to deal with an SP, they prohibit you from ever talking to a suppressive person. If you do, you “become” an SP yourself.SPs are the worst people in the universe to a Scientologist.Scientologists are taught that the very worst SPs areIt’s easy to be officially labeled one too. There was a clean cut list of things you need to do to be officially labeled. Saying anything negative about Scientology or “publicly leaving” Scientology just a couple of them.This is used as a way to keep Scientologists in a bubble of lies.A prison of belief backed by fear of what will happen to your connections with friends and family if you leave.They use your friends and family to control your actions like a marionette.Want to stay married to your Scientology wife and see your Scientology kids? Shut up.Want to keep speaking to your parents? Shut up.Your 16 year old sister was raped by a staff member in a auditing session? She was made out to be the bad guy? Shut up about it.You were pressured to get an abortion in the Sea Org? Shut up about it or else.You have a son or daughter who joined the Sea Org years ago and you never hear from them? Calm down. they’re busy saving the planet. Why would you interrupt their work? You don’t have a problem with what they are doing do you? Who‘s side are you on? Only an enemy of Scientology would disagree with the dedicated sacrifices a Sea Org member makes to save the planet.Your Mother is in hospice because she has cancer that has metastasized from her lungs to her liver and brain. She never went to the doctor for the early symptoms she had because Scientology taught her that being sick is an indicator of bad associations and Doctors just want to put you on needless drugs and make money. While she is in hospice, Scientology identifies you and the CAUSE of her sickness and contacts your mother to try and convince her to STOP TALKING TO YOU.I’m not making these things up. They are real things that have happened to me.But they happen all the time in Scientology.It doesn’t matter that every Scientologist knows of someone who has committed suicide in it.They still won’t blame Scientology or the undue influence it exerts on its members to tow the line about how amazing it is.In Summary:From what I’ve seen and heard from former LDS members, they don’t experience anything near what a Former Scientologist experiences.Any harassment they get is circumstantial and isn’t organized as policy or enforced like it is in Scientology.
