Why are many engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu being closed?

Thanks for the A2A.It is time they are closed. They have outlived their usefulness. Look at the latest employability report and engineers from TN are ranked last once again.[Source - National Employability Report, 2019, Aspiring Minds]Ding dong bell when it comes to employability. For a simple reason, engineering is and should remain a specialized field. Not every one is meant to be an engineer. I can at least understand IT. I seriously do not understand why we should be producing so many engineers in other branches. Like I said, it had its heyday in 90s when it was required for the low end IT work. That is no longer valid. When I was in school, the guys who became engineers mostly were the guys who WANTED to become engineers. I knew some top class engineers even from private colleges those days in early 90s. I even have one in the family :) My brother wanted to study ONLY electrical engineering, he studied it, refused to take up any IT jobs. Core, he said, only core. And he is a successful HVAC engineer now. He took up electrical because he worked a lot with my father, who was an electrician. So he understood things even before he went to engineering college. I of course took the easy way out, lazed around with my mother and read books and went on to study literature :)The reform we need to do in our educational system:Rationalize the whole technical education, close down 50% of engineering colleges at least.Give more emphasis to arts and humanities at school level. Open up more high-quality Arts & Science colleges.Set up Anna University equivalent of Arts & Science colleges in EVERY district with practical curriculum.Set up a top notch university for humanities in the state but only subjects like economics, sociology, psychology, development studies, linguistics and few foreign languages.Eliminate higher secondary level. Replace it part higher secondary, part trade school system.Freaking study one or two subjects only at school and study them DAMN well. The current system is like a dog eating the marriage feast.Eventually eliminate Tamil medium but only after strengthening at primary and secondary level.Simple jail sentence of six months to anyone who insists on Tamil medium instruction. I studied in Tamil medium, I know how that works. I was one of the very few lucky guys who escaped it. Not everyone were that fortunate.

Am I eligible for the Make Work Pay $400 tax credit if all of my income came from 1099-Misc as an independent contractor and not W-2?

Net income from self-employment, reported on Line 31 of Schedule C or Line 3 of Schedule C-EZ, can be used for the Making Work Pay credit (it goes on line 2b of the worksheet in the instructions). If your 1099-MISC is required to be reported on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ, then that income, less any deductions that you take related to the generation of that income, would be used. You must take all appropriate deductions against that income, however. Schedule C returns with no deductions taken against income are audit candidates.

My employer reported paying me much more than she actually did. What does this mean?

You should ask your former employer why the W-2 is different than what you believe it should be.If you do not accept your former employer's response and your former employer will not amend the W-2, contact the IRS. Call the IRS at (800) 829-1040, and ask them to initiate a "Form W-2 complaint."The IRS will mail your former employer a letter requesting that they correct your W-2 within ten days. The letter will inform your former employer of the penalties of not correcting an incorrect W-2.The IRS will also mail you a letter with instructions and a Form 4852. When you file your tax return, you would write on the Form 4852 the figures that should have been on your W-2, and you use those figures when preparing your tax return.

SAM/ JULZ WAS WONDERFUL! SUCH A GREAT SUPPORT! After spending hours trying to fix the problem earlier and having no luck with the calling from billing dept. One agent hung up on me! He came to the rescue, worked to TEACH ME how to walk through the issue and solve the problem. I am so grateful! I will always ask for him in the future! perfect 10 for his effort and going out of his way to help really solve the issue and teach me how to handle it in the future!
