(I will continue expanding this)Claim 1: Gujarat's GDP growth under Modi is exceptional.True Gujarat GDP Growth under Modi has been phenomenal!The chart below shows Gujarat's GDP growth for last 1.5 decades. Every year (except one) under Modi, Gujarat's GDP growth has beaten India's. Compare that to the period right before to get an idea of the condition of the state when Modi started. But Gujarat's growth is phenomenal! Starting near Karnataka (whose share stayed flat) at 5.7%, Gujarat now contributes an impressive 7.7% of Indian GDP! (Jump of 32.5% in share). If this is not exceptional, then what is!?Claim 2: 2003-2013 is the only 10 straight years ever in Gujarat history which are complete Riot-freeFalse, but debatable depending on what you consider as the definition of riot. Thankfully, there have been no large scale riots like Gujarat 2002, Delhi 1984 or even Assam 2012. But ideally, there should be no communal clashes at all, and hence, I consider this claim untrue.However, interestingly, in this case, Modi detractors don't bring up records of other comparable states, which they always bring in for other claims. Fair point! Let's take data at constant prices and see which state comes out at the top!Here is an analysis from official government numbers, which suggests that if we calculate CAGR since 2001, Gujarat comes out at the top by a big margin among the progressive states, and second only to Bihar overall.
