Seriously the Quora Bot needs to stop trolling!There is no consensus possible here as the US Military is not a singular body in a singular place with a singular opinion.The US Military is made up of 5 branches if you count the Coast Guard.Those 5 branches are spread all over the world.Those 5 branches consist of several million persons.Of the millions of personalities there are 1000s of opinions among them.I would say better than 3 quarters of those opinions have never even operated/worked with the British Military.It would be a safe bet to say the converse about the British Military on every bullet point.While some of the answers here are very interesting and have very valid points, I find that summarizing a situation where a body like the Pentagon has a unified opinion, is a mistake.I also want to make this point: Finding faults with Geopolitics often is not separated from the military entities that are entwined in them. ROE is a great example. ROE is a modern extension of politics, that is forced upon military forces for purely political and cosmetic reasons. Im not saying that ROE aren't necessary or legitimate. You just have to read between the lines. You cannot judge the effectiveness and/or outcome of an operation solely on the military force involved. Geopolitics rule military operations and can doom a force no matter how elite and effective they are.My own personal opinion is this. I did an exchange tour split between HMS Ocean at sea and RM Poole ashore. My feeling is that the British in general are more apt to form an opinion than Americans when it comes to the other. I have heard many stereotyping judgements from my counterpart. Fill in the blanks: “Oh dear, Americans and their __________” This applies not just to the military but, is pretty common across the board. Americans are far less likely to stereotype in this way. Some of it is ‘groupthink’ and some of it is personal chips on shoulders. Me myself, I never prejudge, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and let that individual show me their true colors.
