How do I bring seriousness regarding the JEE?

It is the same situation which you are facing now ,I had faced this type of problem during my preparation daysWhen I was preparing for jee ,there were some days when I was not serious regarding jee and I was movie and talking with my friends .This type of problems I was facing those days .Atlast I thought a solution how to overcome it so first I changed my friend circle,I spent more time with serious aspirant and asked how they are preparing for it .The most important thing I did was I give 10–15mins time to think about my family condition and from where I belong and what is my goal and my future. Also you should set small daily basis goal like how much topic you have to complete today and rewards.Watch one or two motivational videos and generate your own motivation. Don't spend much time on YouTube Facebook whatsapp and other social media flat form. These are things which make you serious regarding jee .

Why do the names of many cities in China end off with -zhou(州)?

Everybody has already explained zhou (州). This is indeed the most common "suffix" in Chinese place names if you're looking at a national map. But if you're traveling with a topographic map instead, you see lots of other suffixes too, many of which are only common in certain regions...岙 ao, said to mean “an area of flat land in a mountainous region”, in village names along the coast of Zhejiang. E.g. Yu'ao 渔岙村.凹 (sometimes 垇 ) ao, “hollow” (As in Washington Irving’s Sleepy Hollow). Fairly rare, but seen e.g. in the name of Xujia’ao Tunnel 徐家垇隧道 in Yunnan.堡 bao or (in place names) po - "fort". E.g. Sanbao城 cheng, "[walled] city". E.g. Yancheng(= "Salt city")港 gang - usually, "harbor", but I also see it often used in inland regions... does it refer to something like a wider section of a river? landing? So besides Longgang Town, Zhejiang (龙港镇), which indeed is a sea port, one finds Honggang Town (洪港镇) in Tongshan County, Hubei, which only has a fairly shallow river.沟 gou, "ditch". Especially popular in the northwest (Gansu). E.g. Jiuzhaigou County (= "Nine farms' creek")河 he, "river", in place names like Heihe. (= "Black River", referring to the Manchu name of the Heilongjiang / Amur River)坪 ping - lots of towns in the upper Yangtze basin (around and west of the Three Gorges - western part of Hubei, Chongqing, maybe Sichuan). E.g. Sandouping. The word means something like "a piece of flat ground [in a mountainous region]", so it's a bit like "Flats" in the US West (e.g. Grizzly Flats, California ).湾 wan, "bay" or "river bend" (also 弯 in the latter meaning). Seems to be common in the southeast (Fujian).庄 zhuang, "hamlet". E.g. ShijiazhuangLots of villages (and some towns) have three-character names on the pattern of "family_name" + 家 ("family") + "geographic_feature"E.g. Shijiazhuang - Shi (=Stone) family's village (now a big city). Also 汪家镇 Wangjiazhen - Wang family's town, but see note 1 below.Note 1: When Chinese place names are reported in foreign press, they are sometimes suffixed with "xian" or "zhen" or "xiang" or "cun". I personally dislike this practice, as these are separate words usually referring to legal administrative entities (县 xian "county", 镇 zhen "town", 乡 xiang "township", 村 cun "village" ; see Subdivisions of China for reference), and should be properly translated rather than transcribed. (E.g. I feel that it's better to write "Maoping Town", rather than "Maopingzhen" when writing in English). Although, of course, it's just a convention.Note 2: Whatever the name originally referred to may not exist in the same form anymore, even as the name remain. Shijiazhuang is a big city, even if it has zhuang ("hamlet") in its name. Wucheng Village (雾城村) on Zhejiang's coast is just a village, even though there was a small walled city (cheng) there 600 years ago...Photo: Wucheng Village today.I am sure I have missed some common suffixes... Additions and corrections are welcome!

What is meant by HMOs?

HMO in the UK is an acronym for Home for Multiple Occupation. This is essentially where a landlord or developer converts a house or flat into smaller rooms or bedsits. So a four bed [family] flat can be turned into a five room house and charge around £500 per room per month =£2500pcm, where they might have got only <£1750> from a single family.
