How do you deal with it when someone finds a bug in your code?

Get them to raise a ticket outlining minimum, exact steps to reproduce the bug, what they expected to see and what they actually saw.Triage it: Reject it if it is meant to work that way, or we plan to not fix itPrioritise a fix: Maybe immediate, maybe put on the backlogDecide if we should make an urgent ‘get the systems back up’ patch/rollback and schedule a real fix later, or schedule the fixInvestigate the root cause: logs, debuggingIdeally write a failing test to catch regressionsFix the root cause of the problem wherever possible, not just symptoms. This may require extensive changes to systems.Get the fix ready to deploy and deploy itComplex fixes involving stored data, interconnected micro services or third party systems sometimes require a sequenced approach where you must identify an order of change.A common example is a database refactor where youAdd new column to database and deployRead from the old column with old code, but store to the newTransform and load all old data into the new formDeploy new code to use the new columnRemove the old column and dataThe goal is to get the system working and keep the system working all the way through the transitions. This is one of the concepts that make software an engineering discipline rather than anything else. Just doing a simple one-shot fix would be great, but it would break the system for many users. Engineering seeks to do more planned work to avoid that.

What is meant by bill of landing?

I think you are referring to Bill of Lading(not Bill of Landing).Bill of Lading (BOL) is one of the most important documents in the shipping process. A completed BOL legally shows that the carrier has received the freight as described and is obligated to deliver that freight in good condition to the consignee. Please also see the following details on Bill of Lading:Bill of lading is a document issued by a carrier to acknowledge receipt of cargo for shipment. Although the term historically related only to carriage by sea, a bill of lading may today be used for any type of carriage of goods.Bill of Lading is a detailed list of a ship's cargo in the form of a receipt given by the master of the ship to the person consigning the goods. Also:What is a bill of lading and what is its purpose?A bill of lading, often abbreviated as B/L, is the ticket outlining the journey of your cargo from origin to its destination. Much like an airline issuing a ticket to a passenger, a B/L is issued by a carrier to a shipper detailing the method and path of a shipment, be it by any combination of air, sea, road, or rail.

Have you ever taken a traffic ticket to court and did you win?

I got a ticket in the mail for parking in a handicapped spot. Usually parking tickets are tucked under a windshield wiper and easily noticed when you get to your car. I never had one on my windshield and obviously did not know about my violation. Until the ticket arrived in the mail six months later and the court date for me to contest the ticket had long since passed.I don't park in a handicap spot ever! I am not disabled and the big sign in front of each stall states that a $500 fine will be given if you park there without a handicapped placard hanging from your rearview mirror. I am not willing to take a space away from a person that needs it. Nor am I willing to pay $500 to park closer to the doors to any type of establishment!Handicapped parking stalls are identified by blue paint outlined on the ground and a handicapped sign in the front of the stall. They are easily identifiable. I also had no clue what I had been doing on the day this infraction took place. I did have the location though. So began my detective work. I kept thinking how/why would I ever park in a handicapped stall. That's just not me!I drove to parking lot, parked my car in the regular person parking spots, smartphone in hand and walked to where the police officer who cited me said I parked. However there were NO handicapped parking stalls in the parking lot! Zero handicapped parking stalls! So what the fuck? Why and how could I have gotten a ticket with a $500 fine, $60 in late fees, $75 in court fees, and a restriction put on my drivers license so that I could not renew it if it needed renewing? I was at a loss! Then I observed a barely noticeable, faded blue line that possibly could have indicated many years ago a designated handicapped parking stall but not one sign in front of it. There was no indication other than the remnants of one faded blue line on the cement.I double checked my ticket to make sure that this is where I parked and indeed it was. I then noticed the time of the infraction. It was at 0111 or 1:11am at night. It was dark! There was no way I or anyone would have noticed traces of blue paint, at nighttime to signify that this was a handicapped stall, especially with no sign indicating such!I had been parked in a handicapped parking space, that long ago may have been clearly and properly marked, but no longer was.I took several pictures then decided to return at 1 o'clock in the morning while it was dark to show the court that it is impossible to see the faded blue paint on the concrete.I printed out my pictures from both daytime and nighttime, wrote a letter to the court and stated that if a ticket would have remained on my windshield when the officer had placed it there, I would have shown up to court with my pictures and explained myself. I did not want to pay a total of $635 in fines!A month later I got a letter from the traffic court stating I was in the clear. The judge said that obviously there are no clear markings anywhere to signify that the stall I parked in was a handicapped one.So why was I ticketed in the first place? The only thing I can think of is my truck that I had driven that night and the issuing officer.I have two trucks, but that night drove my 1971, one ton Chevrolet with a 454 big block engine and is a beauty. I love that truck and we stick out like a sore thumb. Especially when you see me, a petite blonde hopping down out of this massive truck. The issuing officer has pulled me over twice before, really just to inquire about me selling my truck to him and not for any infraction. He wants to buy my truck and had been nice to me when pulling me over. Now it seems he is plain ole harassing me. I did not put that in my letter to the court, because it really didn't occur to me until he pulled me over a third time.As he walked back to his car, he yelled back that he noticed I got out of my parking illegally in a handicapped stall.Welcome to my world living in paradise.Much Aloha to you…
