PDF Editor FAQ

Where is the best place to live in San Francisco for families?

It's difficult with the random lottery school system process in SF to find a place that will guarantee attendance to a good public school. However, attendance area is one of the factors in the lottery. So that being said, there are good elementary schools in the West Portal and Miraloma Park area. Both neighborhoods are close to Muni stops for the L, K, M lines, which go downtown. Or you can try Glen Park, which is great for families and is close to a Bart stop. Glen Park also has an up and coming public elementary school.

What are the best cities to raise kids in the Bay Area?

This is really a lifestyle questions. I think the answer depends on what you want and what you want for your children. All 4 areas have places that are kid-friendly.We've raised our daughter in San Francisco, which has some really good public and private schools, but you have to do your homework. I like Glen Park, Sunnyside, Miraloma Heights, St. Francis Woods, Bernal Heights and Noe Valley for very kid-friendly hoods. I could list others, but that's where I live and it's all been good so far. Our daughter went to Miraloma Elementary, which has a really good teaching staff and very involved parents, plus it's up on Mt. Davidson, so nature walks happen regularly. As far as kid-friendly activities, there are tons of beaches, parks and museums in SF. One that is usually forgotten about is the Randall Museum, which I highly recommend for the model train layout and the views and the animals. Oh, and the Presidio Bowl is not to be missed.I could go on and on, but, if you like an urban environment, then SF can work very well for raising kids. If you prefer the suburbs, there are also many options.

I make 130K/year in San Francisco, CA, which seems to be more than a lot of people. I have a pretty frugal lifestyle and yet I am barely making ends meet. What am I missing?

As someone who grew up in San Francisco and attended SFUSD public school, it is my firm belief that you should send your children to public school. Not only will you save money, but your children will receive the valuable lessons that exposure to a diversity of socio-economic backgrounds teaches.Saving money: if you’re spending $1500 per month on tuition (just estimating based on the figure you gave), you’ll save around $200,000 over the whole of your children’s K through 12 schooling if you send them to public school instead. In my opinion, this money would be better saved for their university years when there is no public option.Public schools provide the best education: this is only my opinion, but as I mentioned, I went through the public school system myself (Miraloma Elementary, Aptos Middle School, Lowell High School), so I do have some experience on the matter. I think that one of the most important things to learn in one’s youth is how to be a responsible member of society so that each individual can try to help advance the human race. If you send your children to private school, you restrict their experience largely to upper and middle class students, hindering their opportunities to be faced with the many problems facing our society, including income inequality, de facto racial segregation, etcetera. Do you want your children to grow up having only had meaningful relationships with other privileged children?

Comments from Our Customers

This program does not fully uninstall. And in my opion should be flagged as malware. It leaves behind an active service running in the background on your computer after uninstalling. It also leaves behind over 30+ entries in the Windows registry that point to that service. It also leaves behind a startup entry that loads when the computer is restarted. There is absolutely NO NEED to have a service running for this type of program (installed or uninstalled). Be warned that this service connects to their servers and could in the future (or currently) transmit data without your knowledge. Took me close to an hour just to uninstall the trial version by manually removing registry settings, files and folders. Avoid any product from this company.
