How are active duty, enlisted Medal of Honor awardees treated by officers?

How are active duty, enlisted Medal of Honor awardees treated by officers? With extreme respect. Remember, this is the nation’s highest military award for service rendered in valor on the battlefield. There is no statute or military regulation about it, but tradition holds that all members of the military services are strongly encouraged to salute Congressional Medal of Honor (MOH) receipients, no matter their rank, and no matter if they are in uniform or not (as seen below). You therefore could see a general or admiral saluting a sergeant, as what happened in 2011 when Admiral Eric T. Olsen saluted SFC Leroy Petry at a ceremony at the Pentagon during Petry’s induction to the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes. In addition to the respect of the salute, MOH holders also receive a special pension of $1,329.58 per month above and beyond any other military benefits and pensions. Here are the other benefits that MOH holders receive:Special entitlements to Space “A” air transportation. Most military members can travel for free on military aircraft on a “space available” basis. MOH holders get to fly by skipping any lines or waits.Special parking at on-base facilities such as commissaries, gyms and recreational facilities.Enlisted recipients are entitled to a supplemental uniform allowance.Commissary and exchange privileges (includes eligible dependents).Admission to the United States military academies for qualified children of recipients – without nomination and quota requirements. Normally this is limited to each state’s Senator nominating up to 10 prospects each for admission.10 percent increase in retired pay.Medal of Honor Flag.Allowed to wear the uniform at anytime as long as the standard restrictions are observed. Many states offer Medal of Honor automobile license plates.Guaranteed interment at Arlington National Cemetery, which is normally reserved for retirees or active duty service members. The internment is with full military honors with a nine member team including 6 pallbearers, a chaplain, an officer or NCO in charge and a bugler to play taps. Their headstone also receives special gold lettering. The Medal of Honor flag flies during burial services for Capt. Thomas J. HudnerFinally, one personal note here. Please keep in mind that the Congressional Medal of Honor is not awarded, it is earned. As a veteran myself, if there is any reader out there that happens to be a Medal of Honor recepient, thank you for your service and your sacrifice to our country. You are truly American heroes, and for that you have earned my respect and gratitude. I salute you.Edit: There have been several comments to my post that I feel need to be included in this answer so readers may fully know the importance and magnitude of the MOH. There are currently 74 living MOH recipients: 4 were earned from WW2, 5 from the Korean War, 52 from the Vietnam War and 13 from the Afghan/Iraq Wars. Of all the 3,522 Medals bestowed to date, more than 60% were awarded posthumously. Obviously it’s not a requirement to be killed in action to be considered for a MOH, but when you consider the millions of men and women that have served in our nation’s military since the MOH was created in 1863, this is an incredibly small number of people to receive it, and it is just another reason why it it so special.Sources:What Do Medal of Honor Recipients Get?6 special benefits that Medal of Honor recipients are entitled toList of living Medal of Honor recipients - Wikipedia

What short letter would you like to write to Obama?

Dear President Obama,I am a 62-year-old retiree, having been disabled seven years ago by HIV cognitive disorder. I survive on SSDI and a small private long-term-disability insurance payment from my last employer, which is the largest not-for-profit health insurance carrier in the Northwest. So I know a lot about health insurance from both the delivery and receiving points of view. I’m writing to tell you what a terrific job you did in transforming the healthcare system through Meaningful Use alone, let alone the broad impact of ACA. Thank you.I became your fan when you spoke at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and my admiration for you has grown ever since. I think Michelle is a great lady, and the fact that I know so little about your daughters speaks volumes about you as a parent. You cannot have striven against more stubbornly and mindlessly imposed barriers, yet you were able to guide us back from recession and potential catastrophe and with ACA passed a great program that has improved the lives of tens of millions of people and all of our descendants. So, again, thanks. I wish you and your beautiful family all the very best in the years to come. I look forward to reading anything you care to share about your experience, and if I get a chance to hear you speak or even to meet you, I’ll jump at it. In the meantime, will you please have your assistant send me an autographed pic? Also, please be assured that many, many of us regular slobs are duking it out against the misused power of your successor. Your legacy will stand if we have anything to say about it, and we just might still have a say.Sincerely,Jim Davis

How is the life of an RRB PO? What are the important things to know before joining in a bank as an RRB PO?

Since the question asks about “things to know before joining”, I understand you like to know about risks , perks and status of this job.Let me start with perks. You're salary equivalent with that of commercial bank PO whereas in terms of contribution to PF, you and your bank contribute less than a commercial bank PO contribution. Whenever there is a revision of pay scale for bankers. Your choices are not automatic but you have to fight in Court for equal pay for equal work. Better late than never. Youre also eligible for DA and TA whenever you go on bank's work but the condition for DA is you must spend more than 4 hours at time. You're eligible for meagre HRA as you work semi urban or rural area. Annually you get a medical allowance of Rs. 8000 and monthly news paper allowance. Now coming to risks. The job of banker in rural areas is risky. You may feel leaving at 5 in the evening for home, nothing better than this but you're leaving a lot of work behind. Unlike commercial banks which use computer printed document, in rural banks you have to write documents with your hand. On a kharif day, you do some 40–50 documents and you can't write all of them alone on the same day. If there is a mistake in document, liability is completely upon you. To make document legally enforceable, you have to obtain revival letter for every three years from borrower who is mostly an NPA. That's the catch. Many retirees lose their retirement benefits owing to this non legal enforceable documents. So saving the skin is more important than doing business in RRBs.Now coming to status, you are working with thousands of farmers, women SHG members so you will be quite popular among them. If you pursue public relation it's the best job. They even bring for you their homegrown vegetables. They respect you immensely and you have the joy helping poor. In my case, I had opened Basic Savings Bank account for a an old lady, I know I have not done any big thing but whenever she comes to bank to withdraw pension she meets me and thanks me. I know the purpose of my job then. Their needs are simple. Escape from high cost debt. Many youngsters choose this job since they prepare to some other jobs like UPSC or SSC and Some other choose this to spend Quality time with family and to pursue their passion in areas like music, writing sice this job offers some time. And time is money right.
