PDF Editor FAQ

How is India changing under Modi government?

Disclaimer: I am former AAP (in 2012, in Ahmedabad, I joined AAP because initially I thought that they are against corruption but soon I found the agenda of party, they are just against a person and his name is Modi) member but when I went to their office so that they can give some informative work that can be beneficial to public but I don't get it, instead they asked me to do research on something which is annoying me and that to for their rival of politics, I asked to do research how Modi is doing good thing and yes, propaganda was to publish the loopholes in media to defame the initiative took by him in an adverse manner that can grab the votes to AAP. While doing research I found some good things which are the initiatives led by our Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Modi. I resigned from AAP in 2013, and never joined either BJP or any other political party.I have witnessed some changes and below are some summarised examples I have of change that I have witnessed:Change of mindset: People of India moreover on Quora asked about change after he became Prime Minister. Yes, I have seen people throwing garbages here and there but I can easily see people now a days want cleanliness around them. This mentality was gifted by Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. Suddenly, I can see vendors also support his good initiatives and had Benner like this in front of their shops, “If you can read this, we assume are enough educated, we are not charging any amount for throwing garbage in dustbin. Please keep clean.” Yes, it happened when I visited Vadodara when I saw some volunteer informing passengers for not spitting and keeping the Newly Opened Bus Depot clean. Some of the people are there who were found spitting and they got punished for Rs. 500 on public place by the authority. It is necessary to keep our surroundings clean, Modi just started this from root level and also he broke the stereotype mentality that a PM cannot handed a broom to motivate people to keep the surrounding clean. Yes, he did in Varanasi. He started this initiative just after he took over the change of being a Prime Minister. Since then I can see this awareness.Fear in Government official to ask bribe: In 2014, in winter of December I went to Delhi for my official visit to DGS&D department for getting a certificate of the same, I went there without any appointments or any prior information to their director. I just met their PRO, co-incidently his name was also Narinder which resembles Modi's first name. I asked him to get an appointment and I was stunned when he just went to the director and said the person of Gujarat coming straight to meet you, the director granted me an appointment. Soon, the meeting was started and he asked me how was Modi in Gujarat being a Chief Minister, I said yes he was very good CM while he served as CM. I was stunned when he said that he was doing job still it was on Sunday to complete his work, I said why on Sunday, he answered you send the man to Delhi just to monitor what their departments are doing on duty, so I also need to complete my work before deadlines and issue certificates on time to our applicants. Soon, after completing our meeting he said something which left me with my goosebumps and he said, you send a man who also not eat and don't let other to eat (he was talking about bribe). This fear should be there in government official's mind and they better should understand they are there to help is not to torture us. I was in Delhi after Kejriwal became CM for second time after he resigned from 49 days government.Routine habits: If I talk about recent developments, he rashes the high denomination currency notes and demonatisation took place where people cannot withdraw more than ₹2500 from their ATMs, we saw queues also, but also we observed that he change the habit of overspending and teach us how we can survive in limited span of money and can control our unnecessary expense. Small companies are also now giving cheques to pay the salary of their lower level staffs like servents and watchmen after opening their bank accounts in the same way that they have opened accounts of their higher level staff in banks. It's something good. I paid by PayTM for purchasing cigarette at a Parlour where Pan and Cigarettes were sold, on petrol pump I paid by my debit card and also my mother who used to carry cash is now carrying debit card for her routine puechsses, though my mother was not well-educated but I teach her how to use it for the sake of her benefits. Moreover, my mother is also spreading the same thing to her circle friends and those ladies are also using debit cards now for their purchases, for your information my mother is used to provide tiffin service and she also running a primary education classes to those children who are coming from backward background since last 20 years.Political scenario: Now a days people of the nation and media kept their eyes on WHAT MODI IS DOING AND WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO? It's great thing where a government is continuously monitored and criticized also for what they have done and what they are doing. Before that people used to see news and just updating the status on their social media platforms. But now a days, people are wise, they are using Quora and asking some change that Modi has brought.Schemes for which that actually have impact in your and others life: Yes, lower cost schemes lead his governance to a benchmark. In simple terms, if I want to explain this, just have an example of his earlier schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana, where government given target to private sector banks as well as Public sector banks to reach as many people as they can and I can say with proof the data of opening of accounts is continuously monitored by the concerned authorities and sent to government on regular basis. So, his focus was on banking sector to strengthen the financial system through banking and the lazy lame bankers we saw in early 90s are now proactive like never before. He further connect the earlier government schemes to Aadhar and linked it with the bank accounts, it is also nice step towards the change, because if Rajiv Gandhi himself said Government sent 1 rupee and people is getting only few paisas for benefits it is very shameful. Subsidies are now directly coming to accounts without any cutting of commission or corruption.Doing something for people who actually need: Ujjwala Yojana is an example, where a housewife can have gas connection easily if she don't have. Moreover many schemes he introduced in favour of the people who actually need it, Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Insurance Scheme is also an example he set by providing lacs or cover at negligible amount of Rs. 12 or Rs. 360. I was worked with an organisation where they have provided this insurance schemes to their staffs like watchmen and servents and paying premium for them and same in case of Atal Pension Scheme. It's a change.Decision he took in favour of national interest: Either his decision of demonatisation or his decision of surgical strikes, left vast impact on people which increases their trust on government. Many things but few sentences are enough to understand this because I am not getting paid by BJP to promote this.Change is a continuous process and if you observe your surroundings as well as your own self you will definitely agree with whatever I have written over here directly or indirectly.I need to mention here the schemes he has announces and little bit about those schemes and initiatives he took during this 2.5 year tenure of his government:Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)Launched: ‎28 August 2014Main Objective: Financial inclusion and access to financial services for all households in the country.Official Website: Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan YojanaPradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (PMSSY)Launched: 22 January 2015Main Objective: Secure the future of girl childSukanya Samriddhi Yojana is an ambitious small deposit savings scheme for a girl child. How can I help students understand Python programming? As a teacher in Python, I gave an assignment to my students but realized that some of them felt helpless and didn't know where to start despite all the step-by-step explanations & demos.

Is the problem learning programming, or the Python programming language? If the language, I’d recommend “Python, The Hard Way” (available free PDF download) and have them follow all chapters of the book, in order, and no copy/paste.If programming, start by solving everyday problems with hand-written flow charts. Explain sequence, decision, loop. Perhaps model cooking recipes, washing a car (are windows rolled up, are doors closed), making a bed, getting dressed (socks before shoes).Next implement these solutions in code. Learn variables, flow control, loops. Learn Dictionaries, Tuples, Arrays, Numbers (int, float), Strings.Next, learn functions and refactor solutions to make it DRY. Later cover objects and OOAD, classes/inheritance, interfaces. See if you can model things like a bicycle, a guitar, a person… Functional programming, closures and iterations. Annotations. Then learn modules, package manager (i.e. pip) and virtual env. Learn Datetime, Requests, Flask. Design an API.Teach about how apps talk to other apps over a network. Teach HTTP, DNS, TCP/UDP, FTP, SSH, SFTP, SCP, ping, traceroute, dig, telnet, curl/wget… Explain RPC, SOAP/WSDL, REST. XML, JSON, Protobuf. I’ve had CS grads on my team who still didn’t know how HTTP requests worked, so take nothing for granted.Use the requests module and fetch a weather or stock quote. Then, assign the book above, and once they complete most of it, then proceed.Teach exception handling and throwing exceptions up to controller. No wrapping entire function in try/except, just specific code that can raise exception.Teach importance of standardizing time zones, email and phone formatting, naming conventions, code commenting, documentation.Teach test-driven development. Unit test vs integration tests. (organize each as arrange, act, assert).Learn regex.Learn open api (formerly Swagger) for RESTful api design and documentation. Document your API. Know about GraphQL.Refactor programs above if applicable.Good luck!

How do I achieve a perfect score on the SAT?

I've scored perfectly on the 2005-2015 version SAT (2400/2400) and the 2014 ACT (36/36 + 12 essay) test. I've also coached students perfect scores on individual sections of the SAT test (math, writing, and reading), and have coached a student to a perfect composite 36 on the ACT (as well as several other students to perfect scores on individual sections). In high school, I scored in the 99th percentile on the pre-2005 SAT and perfectly on the math section of the SAT/PSAT. I self studied for about 2 days in high school. If I knew then strategy wise what I know now, I think it would have been possible to score perfectly even then with the right effort. In terms of advice, let's break it down by section. Specifically, my advice below is geared toward the NEW SAT in 2016 (1600 test)— , and I’ll focus on the multiple choice as the essay is now “optional."MATH1) Join the math team.If your school has a math competition team, or has any sort of math Olympiad team, join it. The exposure to challenging problems and problem solving situations is definitely what helped me score perfectly on about every (non "math competition") standardized math test I took from age 16 onward. Granted, my high school’s math team (freshman year at least) was the best in our state— we had award winning teachers. I certainly benefitted from a few great educators in the math field.Look up AMC 10 / 12 and the AIME-- these are great stomping grounds to expand your math abilities. While on the math team, you will likely work on your problem solving ability-- learning not one approach to each question but two or three ways to do any given problem. I always like to have more than one "out" or option with any math problem I approach. That helps my speed, but also my accuracy— as well as my ability to solve the toughest problems. As part of this journey, you'll also likely program your calculator and stop wasting time running the quadratic equation or factor trees on paper. If you want to know how to program your calculator, here is a video:TI-84 Calculator: Downloading Programs2) Practice.I have coached several students to a perfect score on the math section of the SAT, and for all of them, practice was key. You need to see as many real tests as possible. Some person from somewhere in the world (I'm guessing China), has in a spam-tastic manner uploaded a plethora of real SAT's to a site called Free SAT practice tests and new SAT exam study guide_CrackSAT.net -- I can't vouch for the safety of the site or guarantee it won’t eat away at the insides of your computer-- but it has more real tests available than any other resource on the web, and no one *yet* has told me they got hacked by downloading these files.I only took 4 or so real SAT's before taking the real thing in high school (I did 2 tests a day for about a weekend) and still scored an 800. I got an 800 on at least two or three of those tests. Without my math team background, though, I would have needed more practice. If you don’t get an 800 consistently (over 50% of the time) on this section, you can’t walk in and expect to do so the day of the test.If you’re already scoring 750+ consistently, then see what you’re getting wrong— if it’s the last few questions or hard questions only, then just focus on doing those hard questions on the tests you practice with. If it’s careless errors, practice doing whole sections timed in “real” testing conditions or the closest you can get.3) Avoid careless mistakesYou must find a way to build safety nets for yourself to avoid careless errors. That may mean finishing the test with 10-15 minutes to spare and then redoing 1/2 the test (I found one mistake doing this when I took the test last) from scratch. It may mean estimating answers to double check before or after doing the problem— thinking logically about whether what you came up with makes sense. It may mean writing out occasional problems by hand like a 5th grader rather than using a formula, because you know you're less likely to make a mistake when you do the problem the seemingly long way. It may mean underlining key words such as ALWAYS, MUST, or EXCEPT.Don’t just brush off careless mistakes when you practice— you must take them seriously and set up systems to avoid them. Also, reread the final question being asked after you finish your computations but before you ever put an answer choice-- you must build this habit. Don’t put the number of boys in the class when the question asks for the number of girls— or the volume when you need a surface area. This step will help you avoid that mistake.4) Learn the contentIf you're really serious about a perfect score, you likely started with a decent score (700?) to begin with. As such you likely know most of the math content tested on the exam. If not, you need to learn how to do each type of problem. Sometimes even advanced students never learned permutations-- or they forget how to find the number of diagonals in an octagon. Content wise, you have to know every item the test holds you responsible for. Usually, though, content is the difference between a 500 and a 700— not necessarily a 700 and an 800.READING1) Learn to be an effective reader — build your skills and speed. You need to know how to read a passage and distill it into its main idea, find its voice, and map its contents. To become a seasoned reader requires both skill and experience. Some people say you should read the New York Times everyday. I guess that’s helpful, but you could also read SAT passages or Charles Dickens. For the newer SAT, those older passages have suddenly become more important. Reading literature from the 1800’s is going to help you more now than it used to — in the same way that modern intellectual writing used to help students gunning for a perfect SAT score. Above all, practice with actual tests is faster and more efficient than reading other materials, but it doesn’t hurt to constantly be reading challenging works. In terms of skill, you need to be able to pay attention and make reading task oriented.I have a lesson on reading faster that gets into the details of what that means— you can view it here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWqAzubQcNoI would ignore the subvocalization business for the most part—as that is really tough to pull off and keep the precise comprehension that you need-- but everything else is definitely applicable.2) Develop your vocabulary. Most certainly my odd penchant for vocabulary as a teenager led me to doing well on the SAT in high school— even if my first try wasn’t a perfect score. When I was in high school, one of my favorite assigned reads freshman year was a little paperback entitled “30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary.” It explained the etymology of words in each chapter, gave interactive quizzes, and showed me how to use the words in context. I was so enthused I went out and bought "6 Weeks to Words of Power,” by one of the co-authors shortly thereafter. This book started the journey of building my vocabulary— and for some finding books like this, or like Verbal Advantage, or Word Power Made Easy, can be a great step. Generally I find such books more entertaining than the “SAT” vocab books that come out from Princeton and Kaplan. I also despise pre-printed flashcards.I am a fan, though, of hand written flash cards. In high school, I had a shoe box in my closet where I put every flash card I made for each word I didn’t know in English class— and I would go back and review these cards whenever I had time. The other big tip with vocabulary is to make sure you’re avidly using mnemonics or memory tricks— if you don’t know what those are, check out my video on them here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SRxhl2CLRwIn any case, even on the new SAT, to get a perfect score you must be able to universally understand any passage in the English language the test may hurl at you— and that passage could likely have challenging vocabulary in it.3) Learn the personality of the testThis can be had through experience, but also through reading what other perfect scorers have to say about how questions work and what trends emerge. This is where books or blogs or other resources, particularly from independent, perfect scoring or seasoned SAT tutors, can help you with. Generally these experts have better advice than the sort you find at Kaplan or the Princeton Review, which more often teaches to the middle of the pack.I don’t have enough space in a Quora post to detail what all these elements and preferences are— that would take a book (I’m still working on it)— but they can be found by reviewing wrong answers and figuring out why one is right when the other is wrong. As you understand the test, make rules for yourself in terms of what type of answer trumps another.Realize that the test is not black and white— what is right for one question may not be right if another answer choice exists. The BEST answer always wins, not the perfect answer. Sometimes no perfect answer exists. You have to learn the tests’ distinct values system. Most certainly this expertise is why people pay me to help their kids excel on these tests. At the same time I learned these elements through my own analysis, not with the aid of any specific tutor. I was never tutored— and I think that’s important to state for those of you out there self prepping. That being said, I have helped tutor kids to perfect or near perfect scores on standardized tests. You can figure these things out without a tutor, but it may take a bit longer and take some research on your end.4) Practice.Again you must practice. If you run out of multiple choice from actual “new” exams, the question a day app and Khan Academy, try a few “old” SAT’s as well as the AP Language & Composition or AP Literature & Composition (skip the poetry and plays— but about 70% of the questions are similar to SAT style questions, and the “old” fashioned nature of the AP exam is closer to the new SAT than the old SAT is to the new SAT.). Use as much printed material as possible— you’ll read faster than from a screen.WRITING & LANGUAGE (Multiple Choice)Ok, so the grammar style questions are now subsumed within the reading score as part of the “writing and language” test. What is somewhat challenging about this new test is that it not only expects you to know all the points of grammar previously tested, but also expects you to understand paragraph development, transitions, structure, and consistency in writing. To become an expert on this section is twofold:1) Learn every grammar rule. You must learn every “SAT” grammar rule. For the most part of what I’ve seen moving from the old SAT to the new is that every rule the old test played by the new test does as well— meaning that the “rules” haven’t changed, only the questions have. Subject Verb Agreement, Pronoun Agreement, Faulty Comparisons, everything that was in every “old” SAT prep book is still ripe for testing on this exam as well, and familiarizing yourself with those rules, learning idioms and all the like can help you get a perfect score. Studying all these rules is not going to help the average test taker as much as it used to, as the test now has much more emphasis on writing, composition and style, but for perfection it’s a necessary element. In this sense, old SAT’s may be beneficial for you to try a few times if you are gunning for perfection on the new exam and have run out of practice material. You can find a good handful of official old style SAT’s in pdf form online with a little bit of googling, or from the site mentioned earlier (CrackSAT.net.)NEW SAT grammar books may also help with this, as hopefully the authors have figured out that the rules haven’t changed.2) Understand preferences in style and rhetorical strategyYou need to know what a great sentence sounds like. I recommend reading the Elements of Style by Strunk & White if you haven’t. It’s a quick read and still a standard— plus it’s free on the Kindle! In terms of the other questions, context is your biggest clue— you need to learn to use the context to find evidence for which answer choice is best. Ultimately, you must not “guess” or give up when you’re between two choices— you must get to the point that you can narrow the answer down to a single possibility. You have to be disciplined enough to not allow yourself to “quit.” Obviously, that means you’ll need to work quickly on the easy problems, and for that reason you need to be a grammar expert. For the questions that deal with omission or keeping of information, you can try your hand at ACT passages, which deal with similar structures. The ACT however is not as picky about some circumstances as the SAT is.3) Don’t forget about CONTEXTSo many students make errors because they fail to fully look at the context of where a sentence is placed or how it functions in the paragraph as a whole. Don’t misread a context question as a grammar question.4) Understand what the question is asking. Not every question in this section is about grammar or even style— sometimes questions are about comprehension (chart reading) or content. Focus on what you are being asked and pay attention to each word and detail. Finally, regardless of the section on the test— you CANNOT GUESS if you want a perfect score— you must hold yourself to the idea that you can and will figure out the best answer for every question. If it’s impossible for you to do so in the time allotted for the test, you have not achieved the mastery necessary yet to get a perfect score.
