It usually is a good idea to make that request right when you start, so that the HR/or the person you report to makes sure that they note down your achievements and can give you an appropriate letter/certificate when you leave. But, its never too late - so if you are in the middle of your volunteering assignment, make that request - either to the person who you report to/are working with, or the HR (if there is one) - they will keep the points ready. You will get the letter/certificate when you are done with your assignment and are ready to leave. Please do not hesitate to ask, nor worry about appropriate time - it is very much expected and accepted.Many NGOs have a ready template/format for such letters or certificates. In case the organization you are volunteering at, doesn’t, then you can help them create one, which can be used by others who volunteer in the future.A letter/certificate from an organization where you have volunteered is a great thing, especially if you are starting/or are in early stages of your career. It not only represents your ability to “volunteer”, but also shows that you are wiling to make time for what you believe in.So, go ahead and just ask.Good luck.

1) If you do not have extra certificates(the online ones count) get some :) it is relatively easy.2) If you do not have relevant work experience, speak about you volunteer experience(if you do not have, get some).3) Mention school projects (but describe them as you actually managed to achive something, how they helped other people or any other intresting details).4) Have a good summary and job title(Junior ######| ##### Student).
