How do most people find a music teacher around their area? Do they first search online or ask their friends? What's the process they go through?

My youngest daughter had a life-altering epiphany while on our family vacation at Southern Cross Ranch in Madison, GA (southcross.com) an amazing horse ranch/mansion w/amazing 24-hour eats & a prodigy guitarist named Nathan Beaver who performed there. She KNEW somehow that learning to play guitar well, and with passion, was what she HAD to do. We bought her a $99 Walmart guitar (decent, believe it or not), and we began looking for a teacher of excellence. We went to music stores (places that musical instruments are sold, rented to school band students, along with sheet music & supplies), we looked at bulletin boards for business cards & handwritten notes advertising lessons. We asked guitar players at our church how they learned to play & got their recommendations. We searched on Google (search engine) for local guitar shops & teachers & got plenty of feedback to make a decision. The teacher we chose taught out of his home, with a professional, separate “office” area for his array of guitars & pics & strings, etc. for sale, sheet music, waiting area, and separate entry. He charged $20 for 30 minutes, once weekly my daughter was taught, as I waited comfortably. We had found Lou’s yellow business card tacked up at the music lessons location my other daughter took saxophone lessons at nearby. (recommended by school band teacher). We called, went weekly, she excelled - because she LOVED it so much - and didn’t need any more lessons after about 16–18 months. She was about 14 I think. At age 17, she was hired at my church (now 1,200 members/3 Sunday Services) as the full-time Music/Worship Coordinator, also coordinating conferences, weddings & funerals. She’s 22 now & has made a career of her guitar & voice. She is also majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Bible Theology. Her goal is for her & her husband to pastor their own church someday. (He’s a guitar player, drummer, singer, teacher & middle school pastor at my church). I’m very proud of her/their accomplishments together & separately. Music is powerful and a worthwhile pursuit! Good luck!

Why is building a border wall a bad idea? It works in Israel and many other places.

A DHS report recently released indicates that around 8000 people are apprehended trying to cross the southern border illegally through Mexico. About 40,000 people fly from Mexico and overstay their visas. Meanwhile, 90,000 Canadians illegally overstay their visa, but we don't complain about them, it is believed, because they are white. There is an argument that the wall is nothing more than a monument to racism. The President has made it that by constantly criticizing Mexico, dark skinned immigrants etc. and stating a preference for more “Norwegian-like” immigrants. The border will cross mostly private land east of El Paso and that will generate great expenses in eminent domain acquisition as the wall crosses ranches.
