How are students, who have joined RSS, able to devote time to study and RSS?

My friend Pankaj Singh Gariya has been an active part of RSS since he passed class 12th examination from Vivekanand Vidya Mandir, Bageshwar in 2016.After passing class 12th, he took admission in DAV PG College Dehradun to pursue his higher education and moved to Dehradun. He lives there in the RSS office with other volunteers, which is almost at the distance of 500 meters from his college. Every volunteer has to willingly submit 1000₹ per month, so that there could be proper management of their accommodation, three time meal and functioning of other social activities.[Taken from one of his Facebook posts.]When I ask him as to how he manages to study as well as devote the time to RSS. He tells me that many activities which are carried out under the aegis of RSS are in itself a great source of knowledge and inspiration which help us develop a versatile personality and strong character dedicated to promote the larger interest of nation in general and hindu religion in particular. He regularly takes part in the morning and evening shakas.[Shakha is a kind of meeting of the volunteers of RSS belonging to a particular area/region in an open ground under the sky. This includes sports, Geets, Subhashit, Amrutvachan, Yogasanas and Prayer along with patriotic teachings]On being asked, he tells me that he goes to college 3 or 4 days in week and has also joined an English Speaking Course nearby the college. He sometimes manages to study in the city's library, but can't regularly visit due to paucity of time and busy schedule of RSS. Else, he has to study in the room which has been allotted to them in Sang Karyalay [Office of RSS].Recently he had gone to another city for 1 month O. T. C [a kind of camp organized by RSS to train their volunteers]. He told me about many things that he learnt from there by being in the company of hundreds of volunteers. To him, joining RSS is like learning by experiences.

Why is the USMC considered ‘elite’ by the US when the boot camp is only 12 weeks long? SOI is only 9 weeks and their fitness tests are extremely easy to pass.

It has nothing all to do with the length of time recruits spend in boot camp. It has nothing to do with amount of time Marines spend in any sort of training, It has a little to do with physical training, but only as an added source of pride in accomplishment. It begins with the people who volunteer. You join the Navy or the Air Force to learn a trade and have pleasant conditions of service. You join the Army to have a variety of specialties available to you which may, but not necessarily, include combat. I had a friend who had joined the Army as an officer specifically to be an entomologist developing ways to combat insect predation on combat troops. You join the Marine Corps to challenge yourself as a member of an elite service that fights. Not every Marine fights, but only an idiot would join an organization which is almost exclusively designed for ground combat unless he planned on doing it. When you walk into the Marine recruiter’s office, somewhere in the depths of your soul, you see yourself as a combat Marine. If you don’t, you should never go there.Boot Camp is very important because of the isolation from society and dedication to changing a recruit’s basic outlook on life. No other service does this. When my cousin went to Parris Island, my uncle soon called me and asked why his son didn’t call or visit home on liberty. I had to explain to him that it was because, aside from the weekly letter to his mother, he had no opportunity to call or visit because his every waking moment was spent under close supervision while becoming a Marine. No phones, no liberty, none of the things my uncle had experienced in the Army.Drill Instructors are not there as chaperones. They are chosen and trained to educate, motivate and mold young snowflakes into professional warriors with pride in their accomplishments. They have all the time, support and isolation from the world that they need to accomplish this. Finally there is Tradition, capital “T” to be noted. I have never been in the Army, Navy or Air Force, but I suspect that after chow, they don’t go outside the mess hall, stand in formation at parade rest and study a notebook which details Marine Corps history. From the moment you enter boot camp, you are imbued with this history. All your waking hours are filled with it.My wife and I were driving north on Route five out of San Diego one day and we passed several buses full of Marine Recruits going to Edson Range for rifle training. She asked me why they were all sitting quietly with their heads down and not talking to each other. I had to explain to her that for the 45 minute drive to Camp Pendleton, they were required to remain quiet and study their Marine Corps notebooks. This was enforced by the Drill Instructors she saw walking up and down the aisle. This was alien to her. And mind you, my wife went to school in Germany where the nuns did the exact same thing.I’ve seen it often. People I have known in other services go to boot camp and come back pretty much the same as when they left, except with shorter hair. The ones that go to Parris Island or MCRD San Diego come back as Marines, a demonstrable difference both physically and mentally.

How do I remove "Canadian experience" barrier, to land a job offer from Canadian software firms, without working slave jobs?

Removing the “Canadian Experience” barrier is a three step process. The fact that you referred to a job in Canada as a “slave job” tells me you definitely need to read this answer.Step 1: Understand what hiring managers mean when they ask for Canadian experience (No, it’s not what you think it is)Step 2: Learn about Canadian workplace cultureStep 3: Gain Canadian experience as part of your job search strategy.Step 1Most people think Canadian Experience is about your technical ability. As you mentioned you wanted to work in a software firm, presumably as a software developer, this must be really frustrating for you because the nuts and bolts of software development is generally a global standard. When a hiring manager plays the “Canadian Experience” card at you, it’s got nothing to do with your technical abilities, and everything to do with your awareness of how business is conducted in the Canadian workplace. It doesn’t matter if you have 20 years of experience as a developer. You’re not a machine. You’re a human being that makes decisions and has values and morals and workplace ethics. If you have come from another country, the hiring manager is concerned that your morals and ethics and values may not be aligned to Canada’s culture - yet.Step 2Normally, I tell people that clear communication skills or presentation skills is the first skill they need to develop in order to integrate into Canadian workplace culture. But in your case, the first cultural lesson you need to learn is R-E-S-P-E-C-T. If you ever refer to a person or their job as a “slave” in Canada, you put yourself and your job at a great risk. The company I work for is a reputed telecommunications company that takes pride in being a strong Canadian growth company. It reflects true Canadian values and workplace culture.Respect to one another is not just a courtesy, it’s a mandated policy. One of my colleagues once declared to our team “If you make a mistake, your next job will be at McDonald’s”. Someone over the phone overheard that statement and reported it to HR and there was a formal investigation with his senior management. You may agree or disagree with this culture. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but opinions are irrelevant when it comes to job searching. If you want to get a job and keep it, respecting everyone in the organization, whether they are the CEOs or cleaners, is the culture of Canada, and we’re damn proud of it!Other areas of Canadian experience that you should be considering is:Clear communication skills in English / FrenchPresentation skillsTeamworkConflict ManagementGiving and receiving feedbackStep 3While most people feel that endlessly machine gunning their resumes to online job boards will get them a job, the smart job searcher is taking an active approach. To conquer the Canadian Experience problem, you should:Volunteer. While companies may refuse to hire you due to lack of Canadian experience, volunteer organizations would be happy to utilize your skills as a developer. You can look for volunteering opportunities in your field with your local community centers, or Google for opportunities online. You may feel this is pointless as there is no money for your effort. Well, if you’re sure that Canadian experience is preventing you from getting a job, think of it as removing a barrier to a paying job in the future, rather than “free work”.If you treat your job search like a full time job, then dedicating X hours per day to do actual volunteer work shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. If you have taken this course of action, display this experience proudly on your resume. Why? Because the recruiter will now see that you’ve interacted professionally with other Canadians and have gained some knowledge of how Canadians work through volunteering - THAT’S Canadian experience.Internships. My cousin had a Canadian experience problem. She is in finance. After unsuccessfully spraying and praying her resume all over the job boards, she finally decided to join COSTI, an organization that teaches newcomers about Canadian workplace culture and any technical skills gaps she had in finance. At the end of the course, she was placed on an internship program with a reputable logistics company.2 months later, they asked her to join full time.3 months learning about Canadian culture. Check.2 months work experience. Check.Canadian experience accomplished! There are several educational institutes at every city. Select one that’s close to where you live and start a newcomers course as soon as you can.Local Education. Not exactly the cheapest option, but if you can afford it, local education is also seen as Canadian experience in the eyes of the recruiter to some degree. You are formally in an environment where you are interacting with other Canadians, professors, students, working on projects together, meeting deadlines etc.All this counts as Canadian experience in the eyes of the recruiters. And, at the end of the course, most educational institutes in Canada have an internship offering as well.Google for bridging programs or local education courses in your industry in your area and a couple of universities will come up.Learn More….A lot of newcomers are rightfully frustrated with the whole “Canadian experience” requirement. But instead of finding solutions, many throw their hands up in the air and proclaim “racism”.There is way too much multiculturalism in the work place for racism to be a blanket reason. They also state “I don’t have Canadian experience, but I have international experience.” They assume “International experience” is somehow better that Canadian experience. It’s not about better or worse. It’s about relevance. What’s the point of international experience if the employer only does business in North America? You have 20 years of “international experience”, while your competition has 20 years of North American experience. Whom do you think the employer will choose if the job is targeted to the North American market only?On paper, don’t think your resumé will do your skills justice. You want to beat Canadian experience, get in front of hiring managers directly. Win the hiring manager over with your personality in-person, and that will make up for the lack of Canadian experience, which you can easily acquire in 6 months - that’s how you get the hiring manager to see the ROI in employing you.I never faced the Canadian experience problem because I figured out a 10-step process o apply for every job application, that allowed me to 4X my response rate for my job applications.I got a response for 1 out of 3 applications on average and got an interview for almost all of them because I figured out how to chase after the job rather than wait for it to come for me.And it’s much easier than you think if you know how. So I created a short video explaining how I did it.Click here to watch the videoTo your success in Canada!
