Make your class interesting.I don’t mean make the content you teach interesting, I mean make the class itself - spending time in your classroom and learning - interesting. There are several classes I have taken that had interesting content, but were absolute torture to sit through.I would avoid long powerpoints and lectures whenever possible. A better tactic (depending on the subject) is to make worksheets or other types of in class assignments that students can work through with their peers, with you around to help.Do not make people feel bad for asking questions.Even if they’re really stupid questions. If any of your students are reluctant or afraid to ask you a question, something is wrong.Take everything in stride.Your class won’t be perfect. Not all of your students will be perfect. Some of them will act out more than others, and some will put in more effort than others. Trying to micromanage everyone and force them into acting out a role in your dream classroom will not earn you anything but unpopularity.Do not take out disappointments on your students. I had a teacher who got angry that we were not putting in as much effort as he felt we should be, and decided that the solution was to give us several, uselessly detailed reading quizzes. No one got a good grade, whether they read or not. (And if this sounds like resentful speculation on my part, know that this teacher sat down with us after a few months of this and admitted to what he was doing with these quizzes, although his reasoning was more along the lines of clearly, none of you are doing the readings, so this is the best solution.)Be ready to admit you are wrong.The same teacher once took off several points from every project in my class period, because every group had failed to annotate our citations the way he wanted us to. He got angry with us for not listening when he’d told us how he wanted it.No one in our class had any recollection of hearing this, and it wasn’t written on the assignment sheet we’d been given. My friends in the other period remembered being told this and hadn’t lost the points.When I stayed after class to talk to the teacher and ask politely if there was any chance he might have only told the other class and not ours, he admitted there might be a possibility. I got half of the points back.Don’t design the grading system so that your students will find themselves unable to focus on anything but the stress of their grades.A system where everyone feels relatively secure with a good grade will make people more likely to genuinely enjoy your class and focus more on learning the content than getting the grade.If you enjoy what you do, your students will be able to tell and are more likely to share your enthusiasm.

I failed in SSC CGL CPT of 2013, i underestimated this part of the exam and missed ASO in CSS and landed myself in Divisional accountant post. But this failure taught me something in life, “ Dont stop until you reach the finish line” and complacency is harmful.I appeared again in cpt of CGL 2014 and cleared it without any hassle. Then i relied on my instincts and some cpt modules available on ssc tube. You tube was not so popular then.Typing test: It was easy for me as i was so much into gaming and all that i was aware of keyboard. Still i practiced it by typing long passages from newspaper articles. The more you type, the more you practice and the more you learn.Relevance: You will be doing all your work in Microsoft word once you join any CGL job. You will be required to make Reports in Microsoft word. Therefore, typing is essential.2. Microsoft excel: You must learn this judiciously as you will be doing alot of your work when you join as Inspector in CBIC/CBDT. All the tax calculations are done in Microsoft excel sheets only. Simple addition, multiplication, subtraction and division are asked keeping in mind the alignments and other requirements. Calculation of percentage, profit and other such formulaes can be very helpful in this test.3. Microsoft powerpoint You must have been familiar with this during your college days. Practising one or two projects will give you a fair idea of this part also. They usually ask same set of questions. Don’t expect much change in this too.Relevance: Microsoft power point will help you in giving a presentation of project assigned to you. Sometimes your Commissioner(in cbic) asks you to make a powerful powerpoint presentation on a particular topic.Don’t be complacent but don’t get scared too. Its easy but it would still require practice.Keep learning and keep sharing.

Writers hate Excel.When I say “writers” I’m not referring to Scotch-swigging novelists. I’m talking about real writers, the kind who work 9-to-5 jobs as writers writing stuff for other people.Wanna piss off a writer? Put your creative brief in Excel. Across several worksheets. Or worse, make them write or edit the copy directly into the sheets themselves.Excel is universally hated by the writing class, partially because writerly types aren’t usually numberly, and because it’s a terrible text editor. TextEdit is even better than Excel. Unfortunately, much of the world works primarily in Excel and doesn’t see the problem. Words are words, right?Writers are also said to hate PowerPoint but I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. A lot of shitty business writing finds its way onto PowerPoint presentations, but it’s not the application’s fault. I actually think it’s pretty cool. You can make videos in PowerPoint, or quickly lay something out without having to muddle through InDesign. It’s not a great text editor either, but it helps us think visually, because a lot of writerly types are also visual thinkers.I use Excel once a year — at tax time. Maybe more often if I have to fill out an expense report or, shudder, create an invoice because that’s how the client wants it. (I use Word to create my own invoices because they usually don’t need to look super-fancy.)So if you ever find yourself working with a writer, or are assigned a writer to write your case study or whatever, do them a solid and put your information in a Word doc or PDF. No PowerPoint, and definitely no Excel.
