Field Day Permission Slip: Fill & Download for Free

Sort of.I once had a student who was absent the day I gave out field trip permission slips, so I gave him his the next day. About ten seconds later, I collected the parent-signed forms from all of the students who got their permission slips the day before. As I checked them in later that day, his was in the pile, “signed” by his mother.He was so used to signing things for her that when he saw everyone else turning their slip in, he forged her signature and put his in the pile, forgetting that I literally just gave it to him.

I’ve got a couple little ones.Freshman year of high school, I was taking a creative writing class. The teacher was unbelievably quirky and probably the best teacher I’ve ever had. He was handing out permission slips for a field trip this day, and ran out of copies before he got to me. He asked for my seventh period and promised to bring the permission slip before the end of the day.It’s worth noting that that day was F. Scott Fitzgerald’s birthday. To celebrate, my CW teacher—Mr. S—was dressed as Gatsby, in the pink suit.He walked into my English class seventh period, and the entire class stopped to stare. Teachers walking in aren’t uncommon but usually they aren’t wearing pink suits, and we were taking a test so they wanted an excuse to not take the test anyway.So Mr. S finds me, I wave vaguely at my English teacher like “yeah I’m just getting papers,” but while walking across the room, Mr. S starts talking.And see, when I had him earlier that day for CW, he started out the class by quoting passages from The Great Gatsby. Walking across my English class—most of whom had no idea who he was—he repeated the passages in a weird not-quite-of-any-nationality accent. Even my English teacher was horribly confused and I didn’t know whether or not I should laugh or hide.Mr. S actually stopped by the back of the room to finish his soliloquy. He finally handed me my permission slip, but I couldn’t even says thanks, I was laughing so hard. He turned back to the rest of the class, apologized to the English teacher, and asked if anyone had read The Great Gatsby.He was a great teacher.

With a lot of anger. But it would be a lot like what Russia did in Ukraine — a whole lot of nothing, at least for a while. Canada, at least, has close friends in Europe and around the world. Ukraine was written off years ago by the West even before Russia did what Russia did. So, if the US annexed Canada, the effects would be severe but mostly because what remains of American cachet would be utterly gone and the world would thereafter actively look for a new global partner as they abandon the US one by one.That last part is important. There wouldn’t be a nuclear war. Russia would probably rejoice because Putin would thus be handed a certified permission slip to dissect the western third of Ukraine (if not all of it), finally assimilate Belarus and probably reclaim most (if not all) of Kazakhstan. It would also have a free hand in the Caucuses. This would further the feedback loop of global realignment.Because the US would’ve betrayed its most important friend (yes Canada is), that would mean that the US has zero respect for any of its allies. This means that all of the American alliances would be dead. Because Canada is a part of the Commonwealth, with the Queen as its head, the US would also put her and all other Commonwealth nations in a tough spot. They’d have to bail. The entire world order would have to realign and that would mean that —in all likelihood— the UK would have to re-enter the EU and the EU would have to quickly gel into something far more unified to withstand a revanchist Russia.Expect France and the UK to expand their nuclear stockpiles. Expect South Korea and Japan to do nothing immediately (they need the US as a counterweight to China), but they’d have no choice to re-arm. Expect Australia push for an emergent European superpower and a new alliance including them. Military suppliers would have a field day.
