Basically, the idea is that a $200 offer is enough to get you to go to the payroll department at your work and fill in a new direct deposit authorization form. Once you’ve done that you have a commitment to actually using the account and becoming a good customer. They also have some assurance that in order to leave, you would need to go back to the payroll office and fill out a change. That friction might be enough to keep you as a customer even if service isn’t everything they promised.
