Why calling someone "negru" in Romanian is racism, since Romania does not share the same historical background as the English-speaking countries? This is referred to as the PSG - Istanbul Basaksehir match.

Why calling someone "negru" in Romanian is racism, since Romania does not share the same historical background as the English-speaking countries? This is referred to as the PSG - Istanbul Basaksehir match.BLM Power, brother !Some people live on the back anti-racism, the very concept has a popularity which goes beyond the scope of rationality. So, when a clumsy Romanian referee commit the sacrilege of calling a black man black (OH MY GOD !!! :O :O :O), that’s an opportunity not to miss. Especially in a soccer match where most of the PSG players are colored, as well as many of its supporters. To Erdogan Basaksehir & Erdogan, a good PR op : “See, Turkey is not racist, and the tipping edge of antiracism”. Tell that to the Armenians. To the PSG, a good PR op : “See, the PSG is on top of antiracism, and we followed the Turks even if we could have get victory on another green carpet”.To the UEFA, a PR disaster out of its inability to handle the situation in due timeAnd hence, to the news-agencies, a lot to dissert about, with related advertising money on their websites. Delight zone !As for myself, I’d had expelled the black guy for verbal aggression against a referee, and inflicted 3–0 to the Turks as a lesson to not disturb UEFA business (football is a business, nothing else) nor take the public for idiots (wasting 2 evenings in a row to watch the same match because some overpaid fools want to make a PR op? what a joke!), while not granting the victory points to Paris as a sanction for having followed the Turkish move. Discipline is the mother of many virtues.Basaksehir got mopped up 5–1 by Paris the day after anyway. Antiracism can’t beat big money. To avoid such drama in the future, I suggest the creation of BLM sports-league in all black-populated European countries, reserved for sole black players, black staff, black referees, and black supporters, playing in black stadium with a black ball on burned grass, the best black teams earning a black ticket for a black Champions League. Only black framed devices (TV/tablets/phones) belonging to black subscribers would be allowed to display the matches, in Black & Black colorization. Anything white would be deemed haram, and called by its evilish name : “white”. Justice, at last.As for the Romanian referee, only his candor is to be blamed : black ain’t black anymore, brother !

Although not a Christian himself at that time (he was only baptized on his deathbed in 337 AD), he allowed Christians (through the Edict of Milan in 313 AD) to practice their faith without being oppressed. As the ruler of the Roman Empire, Constantine hoped that Christianity could be used to unify his subjects. Divisions within the faith, however, meant that this would be difficult to achieve. What is your unpopular opinion about K-pop?

Disclaimer:I will not talk about visuals, as when people downgrade visuals, it means: “I think I am a better judge of Korean beauty standards than actual Koreans themselves” because most Koreans agree with the visuals in each group. Criticising a visual would also be extremely degrading and superficial.I will not criticise any group using harsh words and will try my best to answer objectively (I am also an army, so this means most opinions will be centred around bts)I am an Asian (albeit not Korean), and some of my opinions are related to thisI have quite a few unpopular opinions:People should not say that kpop idols should learn English because they have many western fansI see many people saying it is irresponsible of bts (or other kpop groups, but mainly bts) as they are not learning English as fast as they should as they have already been in the western scene for so long, butThey are extremely busy with their schedules. They need to train, produce and record music, perform, hold fan meets, and you still want them to learn English?? Many idols practise 12–20 hours for comeback season, so to pressure them into learning another language, which, mind you, is extremely different from Korean and hence is hard to learn, is very inconsiderate. This gives me vibes of looking at kpop idols through western lenses. Not everything revolves around the western world. If the idols are already learning English, good for them! Praise them, appreciate this fact. However, never pressure them into doing something they do not want to do. They can always rely on translators, who might be able to do a much better and more accurate job at translating.Bts is not overrated. Yes, at times they might be overhyped by the fandom, but in fact, I think they are underrated and underappreciated by the general public or non-armys.Wow, you might think, the biggest group in the world, underrated and underappreciated????But yes. Sure, armys might overhype them at times, but kpop stans saying bts are untalented, do not deserve their fame etc etc. I don’t understand how people think they are untalented??? They have one of the best (if not the best) raplines, one of the best dance lines (with arguably the best main dancers and one of the best lead dancers right now) and one of the most diverse vocal lines who complement each other. Imagine saying a group which is up there among the best in two of the aspects is not talented????And let us talk about the western industry and general public (gp) being xenophobic and racist towards them. (I am Asian so I think I can recognise racism, casual or not, directed against people of my kind.) The gp, whenever hearing about bts, they would say something along the lines of “how overrated”, “that bunch of gay <insert homophobic slur>”, “<insert Asian racial slur>” etc etc, without even listening to their discography in the first place. I would like to know why homophobia and racism are so easily excused when it comes to bts? This is disgusting behaviour. The Western industry views armys as “12 year old screaming fangirls”. So many articles written by big names like Forbes state this. However, armys are one of the most diverse fandoms ever, in fact, with many more poc than white armys. The most number of armys lie within the age range of 19–29 and have careers, families and lives outside of kpop.Bts are one of the biggest artists in the world, easily outselling some of the biggest and most iconic artists like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, etc etc. Yet, the western industry cannot get it inside their heads that there is a huge amount of demand for bts and barely give bts radio spins. A radio dj (picture below) told armys to encourage radio stations to add their songs, but we HAVE been doing this since 2016, we have been voting on polls when radio stations ask which artist to play next but we ALWAYS get ignored, we send gifts to radio stations whenever they play bts’ songs (once a dj accused armys of trying to poison him when they sent him cookies,,), we BEG stations to play bts’ music. WE. ARE. TIRED. And what do radio stations do? Nothing. It is very hard to understand this casual racism from outside an army’s (and an Asian one at that) pov, but if you are in the fandom, you know. Have you seen any other big artist, like Drake, Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift, being ignored like this, with their fans needing to beg the western industry to play their music? These are just two instances of the xenophobia they have to face, not to mention the grammys being racist against them, interviewers treating them like children or some exotic creatures just because they do not speak English or do not fit the rugged image of men for westerners. The grammys gave bts TOYS to play with. Toys. I am at a loss for words. There was this one video of Jimin quietly telling the members, “They do not view us as men”, and it broke my heart. If BP were trained and managed well, they would have been the most well-rounded gg of the big 3.It is sad, because I probably still won’t be able to stan them, but it is unbelievable how much of their potential is currently wasted.I feel very sorry for the girls, because they seem so sweet and tired of putting up with YG.However, BP is not mistreated, but mismanaged.Mistreated: overly sexualised, not being paid etc etcMismanaged: not given frequent comebacks, songs don’t do their potential justice = BPAnother unpopular opinion: YG is not THAT bad.Look, YG may be a jerk, and an a*hole, but he is a smart one, extremely genius at marketing. Starving blinks of content = whatever songs they put out, yall will lap up = minimal effort for comeback, but maximum amount of profit. It is objectively blinks’ fault for lapping their content up, no matter how bad or mediocre their songs are, but I feel sorry for them too, because it must really hurt to see the girls they love being mismanaged like thisHowever, be grateful that YG provides BP with great housing and relatively fair payment. SM on the other hand…I remember seeing one of SM’s profit distribution and it was 95% to company, 5% to artist,,Everything I-fans bring up racism in kpop, it is always Koreans being racist against I-fans (like black people).Agreed, some Koreans can be racist against I-fans. However, this is such a big issue that more often than not, the racism Koreans and kpop idols experience goes unnoticed.Like in point 2, many people don’t realise kpop idols face racism and homophobia by the gp. Racism against Asians is as serious as racism against black people or people of any other race. Do not excuse racism directed against Asians.Racism against Asians should also be acknowledged more. Enough said.By the way…”rat” is an Asian slur,, so maybe decide against using “ratmys” as a slur for armys? I dunno, just food for thoughtThis goes back to my point about racism against Asians not being acknowledged enoughStop cancelling idols for cultural appropriation or saying a racial slur.Yes, this is bad, I agree wholeheartedly. But please realise, I am writing from an Asian’s pov, while most of you are looking through a western one.Korea is extremely, extremely homogenous. And Asian societies are rather conservative, families are quite private and we have a habit of keeping our opinions to ourselves. Politics is a sensitive topic, and so is race.I come from a multiracial, first world, slightly-less-conservative-than-other-Asian-countries country in Asia and we are rather accepting of other cultures and races. My country’s history is rooted in racial tensions, but we have managed to overcome these issues and now, we are extremely accepting of different races and cultures. Yes, there is closeted racism at times, however, we are developed to the point where racism is extremely looked down upon, school admissions are race-blind, so on and so forth. But Korea is not multiracial nor multicultural, hence they would have had even less experience than us on racial tensions. Here’s the catch: the main races in my country do not include blacks and Latinos. This means I have barely seen any blacks and Latinos before. Barely. In fact, the number of times? Blacks: around 2 (and they were probably tourists and did not live here), Latinos: 0.What does this mean? We are educated on matters that mostly only, for lack of a better word, directly affect us or is something we have experienced, like the Japanese Occupation, our own country’s history and independence of Asian countries. Due to our country’s geographical nature, we are far away from countries where blacks and Latinos mostly live in.The schools here are rather liberated for an Asian society, and we learn about topics that are usually stigmatised. We discussed BLM recently, as the government wanted us to be more educated on racism in the world and in our country. Guess what? Most of my class (mind you, I come from a top, very open-minded school) did not know the n-word was a racial slur, wearing dreads and cornrows were considered ca and that blackface was a very controversial thing with a traumatising history linked to it. Admittedly, although I am extremely liberal too, I did not know blackface existed until this year, did not know what aave was until a month ago and had always thought the n-word (although I never said it) was an affectionate term like “homie” or “bro”.But you can’t say we have google and hence can research on these things. Firstly, how can we research on things we never knew even existed? Secondly, Asian societies such as my country and Korea are extremely fast-moving and busy, and we do not (really!) have time to do so. Korea’s students study for around 16–18 hours a day. My country also has a rather stressful academic curriculum which is full of rigour of a much higher level than most Western counterparts.Thirdly, it is unfair to pin western expectations onto an Asian society with a very, very different culture. Do you know about the Japanese Occupation during WW2, in which the massacre was as deadly as the Holocaust? How about the Rising Sun flag? Do you know about it and why it is such a sensitive topic? How about comfort women? My point is, different countries have different cultures. You cannot expect people to know all about your country’s culture. Believe me, black face, BLM and ca are things Asian societies are barely in tune with, because we have no experience with them. We are okay with “ca” with our own cultures (tand we barely (and I mean BARELY,) have experiences with black people (I have never talked to one before, ever). So please, the next time an idol does ca or uses a racial slur, do not cancel them, but instead, educate them! Chances are, they had no idea what they had just said, what the implications were or no idea it was even ca. Also, NEVER use these issues for fanwars. That would just be extremely low.I also doubt most kpop stans know what ca is, and most of these people use ca for fanwars and aren’t actually the group of people who are affected. I am usually not affected, so it is not my right to forgive idols.Bts paved the way. When we say this, we mean “making an impact on the Western world”. After all, “making an impact” is the definition of “paving the way”.Now before you come at me, I am not putting down any other 1st, 2nd or 3rd gen groups. However, you cannot deny Bts is responsible for putting kpop onto the map. That would be utterly delusional.Bts allowed kpop to be known to the Western industry. Many people think kpop is manufactured, superficial and second rate. Although that might be true in some cases, bts is the exception. Yes, they do write and produce their music, have MUCH MORE artistic freedom than many of their western counterparts, they focus heavily on music production (they have a whole bts universe which they are not recognised enough for), their lyrics are top tier, not only touching on stigmatised topics but also having wordplay (with references, allusions and puns made between both the English and Korean language). Bts, having so much artistic freedom, allows kpop to have a new reinvention, new outlook and new impression on the gp. Granted, bts may be one of the few groups producing their own music, but the gp will give kpop another chance, thinking many groups are like this.Hence, Bts is a GREAT band to be the face of kpop.Bts also wanted to disband in 2018 because they admitted they were feeling so stressed of the need to continually break records and push limits. Yoongi once said once breaking into the western scene, they had no groups who had come before them to mentor them, that this was new waters they had to navigate. If this doesn’t scream “paved the way” to you, I don’t know what does.If you still need one more point to persuade you…Twice, Ailee, among other legends, said Bts paved the way.Bts is so overhated it’s disgusting.Literally 7 sweet guys wanting to make the best music they can, to please their fans, having a bond with armys like no other artist has, and all they do is get hate. They’re so unproblematic and humble, and yet accusations and defamation are thrown their wayArmys are not as toxic as you guys want to make us out to beArmys are annoying, overly protective and defensive, overly suspicious, yes. However, you wanna know why? When they were not as big yet, circa 2015–2016, bigger fandoms attempted to sabotage their comebacks, gave them death threats, trended hate hashtags, falsely accused them of plagiarism (to the extent that bighit had to go to court to fight this case), almost ruining their careers and made Namjoon suicidal. When they got bigger and won the BBMAs, kpop fandoms trashed them, saying they did not want the paper award. However, this year’s top social artist award looks like an inkigayo lineup. So who really had the last laugh?New armys don't know what happened in 2015-2019 on kpop Twitter with BT$ because the discussion is resurfacing here's a thread:— Soum⁷💫 21st august BTS (@2kinassbichss) June 23, 2020These are just some of the instances (^picture directly above is a link, copy and paste it and read the thread on how bts has been treated over the years). Nevermind the members receiving such serious death threats that they had to cancel concerts, a hate hashtag for Jimin trending to #1 on his birthday just last year and the maknae line being stan twitter’s favourite punching bag. Nevermind antis making fun of Tae’s grandmother when she died and hoping he would die soon too, knowing how heartbreaking it was to him and taking advantage of it, making fun of Hobi’s looks (he is a VISUAL, all of the members are) and trending a hashtag falsely accusing Jungkook of sexual assault to #1, so bad that Bh had to sue the perpetrator. Nevermind antis constantly making fun of Joon’s looks (he’s so handsome), calling Yoongi a JJ stan (know how rap works first before you make that accusation) and hoping for bts’ downfall in the worst waysTell me, when have armys ever trended a hate hashtag (not even to #1, just trending) for any kpop idol? Please, you really want to compare armys calling groups “flops” for not charting (although yes, indeed extremely disrespectful), being excited when they see other armys in non-related bts video comment sections, defending bts from clout chasers and racists to what antis have done to bts…then you are blinded by bias.Bts is that special. They might not be the best of the best in every aspect, but they are the full package. Not one member seems out of place, all of them fit together perfectly well like a puzzle. The vocal line: so beautifully diverse, with Jungkook’s versatile and honey smooth, Jin’s silvery and clear, Jimin’s airy and sensual, Tae’s deep and seductive vocals, they fit perfectly. All so distinctive and no two sounding similar. This allows them to do a very wide variety of songs. The dance line: their personalities are reflected so well, with Hobi’s groovy, fun style, Jimin’s graceful, beautiful lines, Jungkook’s strong, technical moves and Tae’s laidback, charismatic nature…especially with the two contrasting styles of the main dancers, Hobi with his hip hop and Jimin with his contemporary (known more for contemporary even though he studied hip hop longer), it’s a beautiful mashup and they complement each other. The rap line: all have different specialities and this way they form the best rap line (imo) in kpop. Joon has the intricate, top tier wordplay full of rhyme, references and puns, Yoongi with the hard-hitting emotions and roughness of his voice and Hobi with his flow and stability, the ability to be so versatile. They take their art seriously. In many kpop groups, we only see them as coworkers, because there does not seem to be much form of interaction outside of work. But in bts, they teach each other. The vocal line teaches the rap line to sing, the dance line teaches the weaker members moves and the rap line teaches the vocal line to rap when needed. They know each other’s boundaries. From here, we can and feel see their out-of-this-world chemistry. They’re truly brothers and more than family in this way.It feels genuine, not like “I need to be vulnerable because it’s what fans like so I can be more popular”, but “I want to spread my message through my art, because music is such an integral part of me that I want it to transcend boundaries. How do we know they’re genuine? Their debut title track, although they knew would not receive much attention coming from a broke company, touched on not having a dream. We can truly see how much their art means to them, from Black Swan where they talk about their fear of losing their passion for music, to Outro: Tear, a bop but a heartbreaking one, where Yoongi later admits he wrote it to his members when they were deeply contemplating disbandment. They are open and intimate with armys. We see some parts of their insecurities, like Sea, a hidden track, a gem where they open up about their doubts in whether they would ever be able to succeed, to Young Forever, a track meaning a lot to armys and bts. They cover stigmatised topics, from mocking Korean high-ranking officials in an already extremely rocky political climate circa 2016, in “Am I wrong”, risking blacklisting from the government, to Bapsae where they criticise Korea’s culture.Their authenticity and controversy in their music, not wanting to play safe, is a breath of fresh air in the world of kpop, known for rigid rules.Bts’s new music is not worse than their old music.Bts is super underappreciated for being so versatile. Going from No more dream to Boy with Luv in the span of 7 years with an actual story behind their gradual change??You have no excuse for saying they have changed. They only have become more versatile. If you liked the Cyphers, what makes you think you won’t like Ugh or Persona?Admittedly, I prefer their old music, but only because I love hip hop. However, their new music is extremely personal to them, and it’s something only armys can really share with them, and I appreciate the fact that they are so open with us.However, to say they are more westernised??? How?? Where??Ironically, they started off more western than they are now, because the western world loves hip hop. They started off as a hip hop group, with their speciality being in rap. However, since their vocals are more developed and stable, they want to show their vocals off more, hence the more vocally focused songs currently. In fact, the western world hates bubblegum pink songs (look Twice who appeals more to the Korean and Japanese markets), so Bwl was more for Koreans, who loved it.To say that ggs have it worse than bgs is problematic.Yes, ggs do face much more scrutinity on a general level than bgs. However, this means that the problems bgs go through are mostly being swept under the rug, doesn't it? And so does that not mean bgs face an extra problem - issues they face are either being normalised or ignored?Agreed, there is a higher chance female idols have eating disorders. However, when male idols had eating disorders, the reaction from netizens was more “you’re a guy, you can deal with it” and not taken seriously, rather than “please get help, this is serious”. Take Jimin for example, his body dysphoria and weight struggles are not acknowledged as much as most female idols.Furthermore, yes, female idols are forced to wear shorter and more revealing outfits, however, think about when male idols have to flash their abs (which is common too)??I see so many comments stating male idols should not lift their abs especially when they look uncomfortable because it makes the viewer feel awkward. Then they proceed to say that it’s unfair for female idols because they cannot wear skimpier-than-usual outfits while male idols can flash their abs and all is well. This is problematic on so many different levels. They automatically make the assumption that male idols are allowed to make their decisions most of the time. Do they not realise ab flashing is a part of fan service? Does Kai seem like he is comfortable wearing crop tops all the time?Of course they would look uncomfortable if they were forced to sexualise themselves in front of thirsting screaming fangirls! Tzuyu was sexualised when she was a minor, yes, jyp is extremely suspicious and his company overrated (why should they be celebrated for putting Mina on hiatus when they were most likely the cause of her anxiety? Why should they be praised for doing the bare minimum but the fact that Twice being overworked and his bgs being mismanaged is ignored?), and yes, that was absolutely disgusting, but when male idols are sexualised, it is ignored? How many people know that when Jimin and Jungkook, both minors, were forced to lift their abs in the past? There is this clip of Jimin begging his manager not to make him do so, because he was uncomfortable and hated doing that, but he still had to do so anyway. But because they are men, it is excused? (I will never trust BH because they did this to both members, and also due to the probably mistreatment of other members, but I do trust bts because they trust bh. I am also thankful bh gives them artistic freedom.)Additionally, most of the time female idols want to wear skimpier outfits, it is their choice (as in, Hwasa and the like). For male idols? Not so much.To use the word “oppa” in contexts like “Stop pulling down ggs to thirst over your oppars!1!1” is so disrespectful. Many Koreans admit that they cannot use “oppa” without feeling uncomfortable. Who are you, an I-fan, to sexualise and misuse a word so important in Korean culture?Honorifics are extremely integral in Korean culture, and to misuse them for fanwars is so disgusting. Also, pulling down bgs and mocking bg stans does not make you the feminist you think you are. Also, bg stans are not stans if they only thirst over their idols. Like an idol for their personality, music etc, not for their looks.I do not like cute concepts, but does this mean I am being “biased” or “ignorant”? No. It is a preference.I am a reveluv, but I like their velvet concepts more. It all boils down to preference.Skinny shaming is disgusting.Stop saying Lisa and Rosé are anorexic, then praise Hwasa in the same sentence. Anorexia is a legitimate mental illness, stop diagnosing idols like this when they have said they are healthy. Stop saying Lisa and Rosé are unhealthy when they clearly eat well and just have high metabolism rates. This is disrespectful.Bringing an idol down while praising another isn’t something you should be praised for.At the same time, bringing Hwasa down by saying she shouldn’t be praised for wearing revealing outfits and breaking Korean beauty standard stereotypes and then praising Moonbyul for having the courage to wear less revealing outfits is hypocritical. It takes as much courage to wear more revealing outfits and face criticism for your body as it is to cover up because you aren’t comfortable. Just stop criticising idols or selectively praising them, how hard is it to understand? This was really long and I kind of got carried away! Stream Dynamite on 21 August, everyone!
