PDF Editor FAQ

Why didn't Donald Trump invite the local chief of police or county sheriff to his event in Dallas today?

Let’s see. Here’s the Dallas Chief of Police, Renee Hall:And here’s the Dallas County Sheriff, Marian Brown.Anyone care to hazard a guess at why they would be excluded from such an event?Funny thing is, if Trump had invited them, he could have very easily scored a few points. Can always trust Trump to never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Particularly when it comes to appearing presidential!

As someone who isn't a conservative, what do you wish all conservatives would start doing?

I’m going to start at a very basic level. Can we please ask you to remember that we are fellow human beings, fellow Americans, and we are not evil, and not your enemy? Can we please just stop with the raging vitriolic hatred?About a third of the nation hates—hates about half of us if not more. Let me repeat—hates us. All because we don’t share their political affiliation. A good half of us are (gasp) liberals. And they fucking hate us.We are the enemy."If You're a Democrat, You're My Enemy"They hate us and fear us so much, if a plane is a metaphor for the state, they would rather crash the plane that allow us to govern even if we are the majority. The Flight 93 Election and they would countenance collusion with America’s greatest long-term geopolitical antagonist—an act which they would have declared treason before the age of Putin and Trump. Now the Republican party has become downright reactionary. Before Trump’s election, before he even made The Wall the centerpiece of his campaign, I would ask Trump supporters what they wanted from him, and they couldn’t even articulate anything clearly except for things like “owning the libs” or “making liberals heads explode”. Now it’s whatever liberals are for, they are against—and no reconciliation or compromise is possible under such a scenario. So I’m not even going to ask anything else at this point. It would be pointless. There is not hope of any kind of reconciliation, any kind of improvement, or any saving of the Republic, as long as 30–40% of the population—that is far too many for a healthy nation, and this segment of our population currently holds the balance of power in our capital—has as their primary motivation an intense animus for at least half the country, and whose only primary goals are to “make liberals cry again” or to stick it to us.Until this is somehow cured—we are fucked. All of us.Edit: Okay, it’s time to address a recurring comment that comes up over and over again. “Both sides”. The OP asked as a non-conservative, what do I wish conservatives would stop doing. I made a plea to stop the vitriolic hatred. Apparently this answer is controversial. I begged for the flaming vitriolic hatred to stop, for conservatives to remember that we are human beings too, and Americans. And bear in mind I never said “all conservatives.” I never said liberals were all innocent. But it is not equal. Things are not the “same on both sides”. One side has gotten way worse. I have yet to see a single liberal wearing t-shirts that say “fuck your feelings” or “I’d rather be Mexican than Republican” or “Hillary—Make conservatives cry again”.I see some conservatives trying to use Antifa as a sign of liberals being “just as bad.” But the Antifa movement is not as bad as the White Supremacists. They have not killed anyone—not a single person. And our politicians disavow them and kick them to the curb. This is what Republicans used to do to White Supremacists, until Trump came along. ttps://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/08/30/pelosi-condemns-violent-actions-of-antifa-protesters/One conservative commented about me only having a few pictures. Okay—how many do you need? I can post more.Shall I keep going? There is a hatred—an anger, an animus that goes far deeper on the right than on the left. Sure—I admit it. We hate Trump, and I’m sure you can find a lot of pictures of liberals carrying anti-Trump signs and such—but that’s not the same thing as hating YOU. And I don’t see posts from liberals saying that they voted for Hillary to “make conservatives heads explode”. I don’t see liberals embracing policy positions just to “own the cons.” There is something profoundly wrong with people who embrace candidates and policies out of spite.I can’t find any liberal equivalent to books like this: 69 Ways To Own The Libs: A guide to destroying liberals online and in real life - Kindle edition by C.D. Carter. Politics & Social Sciences Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.Here’s part of the summary: “’69 Ways To Own The Libs’ offers a smorgasbord of ways in which true American patriots can humiliate whiny libs on -- and off -- the internet. Lovers of the U.S. Constitution must never be complacent in humiliating, chastising, and crushing the armies of libs who may still have some sliver of hope for a progressive future.”For years now, up until just about the time Trump was elected, when I pretty much gave up—I’ve tried to tell myself it was “both sides” and I tried to be polite, and time and time again—I run into “snow flake” and “lib t a r d”—always in the most sneering and condescending way imaginable—and when I saw fellow liberals get nasty, I would urge them to try to be nice. I too, have been upbraided by other liberals that I should be nice and “both sides are guilty”. I have never once seen any conservatives do that with each other. I’ve never seen conservatives tell each other to chill, and try to be more nice. Not once.Perusing through the comments thus far, not one conservative has taken me up on this. Not one has said “You know Dallas, things have gotten a little out of hand. I still think liberals are terribly wrong about policy, I still hate Hillary, I still think you guys need to clean up your own hate, but we shouldn’t be saying we would rather be Russian than Democrat, or ‘fuck your feelings.’ And our president should have kicked the White Supremacists to the curb.” Not one olive branch. Not one peace offering. Please don’t tell me “both sides are the same”.My appeal from the very beginning of this post still stands. Can we please ask you to remember that we are fellow human beings, fellow Americans, and we are not evil, and not your enemy? Can we please just stop with the raging vitriolic hatred?NEW EDIT: Since this answer is starting to get a lot of views again, I thought I should update for the sake of fairness and accuracy. My last edit I said “not one peace offering”. this is no longer the case. A number of conservatives have repudiated Trumpism, and a group of Never-Trumpers were willing to basically abandon their party and take a stand against Trump—The Lincoln Project. And I’ve seen some decent and conciliatory answers and comments on this thread and elsewhere. It’s still not the majority, but it’s a very positive development and a good start. There is hope after all. For my team—it’s easy to be angry. I myself have become sick of the vitriol and alternative reality. But we need to remember that the potential for this is inside all of us. Anger is human and understandable—but let us not sink to making it our mission in life to “own the cons”. Conservatives make up a big part of our population, and we are all human, all Americans and we have to learn to live with each other. Thanks for all your positive comments.

Why are most minorities socially conservative but vote Democratic?

Because those minorities/Democrats who are socially conservative—we are socially conservative for ourselves. We are not out to push our own lifestyle choices and personal values onto other people.I happen to live a life that most Republican social conservatives would laud. I am a white, straight, middle-aged, married guy. I’ve been faithfully married to the same woman for decades now, never divorced. I don’t drink, except a little bit of wine on rare occasions, I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs, or MaryJ, I don’t sleep around on my wife—but I don’t expect everyone else to do the same. It’s none of my business.I swear, Republican social conservatives are the biggest busybodies on the planet. They are very worried about who every else is having sex with, who they marry—or not, what substances they put in their bodies, what religion they practice, and so on. But all too often, they don’t seem to worry too much about themselves. Their social conservatism is more oriented toward other people.See this person? That’s Democrat turned Republican Kim Davis, the County Clerk for Rowan County, Kentucky. She was unable to function in her official capacity for fear a gay person might marry—against her religion. She was worried about other people. But for herself, she has been married four times to three different men—and, even bore two children out of wedlock. This is also against her religion, yet she expected and received marriage licenses each time. Her social conservatism is for other people. How about this guy? Republican Newt Gingrich. A great and very public social conservative, who was highly critical of Bill Clinton. He abandoned one wife when she was sick with cancer to marry his mistress, and wanted an open marriage. Here’s pro-life Republican Tim Murphy, who wanted his mistress to get an abortion. Here’s conservative senator David Vitter, R-LA, who had a habit of utilizing the services of sex workers, and was a frequent customer for the DC Madam. Another social conservative—at least for other people. Here’s Republican Roy Moore, who nearly won the senate race in Alabama in 2016. A very staunch, hardcore social conservative—at least when it comes to other people. But his thing is pedophilia, which even some Alabama voters couldn’t stomach. Here’s Republican former senator Larry “Wide Stance” Craig, another staunch, and anti-gay, social conservative who was busted for soliciting sex with other men in public restrooms. And don’t even get me started on the current resident of the Oval Office (which will need to be fumigated once he has cleared out). And I can keep going on and on and on.The Republican brand of social conservatism is for Other People. And all the people who continue to vote for them—some of them might be socially conservative for themselves, but most of them? I doubt it, and in any case, their political focus is on other people. They very much want to force their social conservatism on other people. Now it’s true that liberals/Democrats have had their share of sex scandals, but a) there are more likely to be consequences—compare Eliot Spitzer to Dave Vitter. Both had the exact same kind of scandal—prostitution, yet Spitzer had to resign and Vitter continued on in the US Senate, with the support of his party. And b) liberals and Democrats are not in the business of trying to force our social conservatism on other people. Our social conservatism is a personal matter only.Hope this helps.
