Great question.I was not able to locate a requirement to display the registrant's name and I do not believe that all other registrars follow that pattern. I've also seen this being done on Network Solution's registrations before the new requirements came into play.My guess is that this could be in order to limit legal exposure of the registrar, as lawyers often sue everyone they can find in a domain's whois registration.
