So when they’re being quoted in context saying they’re about to cut medicare or social security programs, you can plug your ears and scream that it is “fake news” because reality has a liberal bias, or you can realize you just voted in people who will shaft you.When republicans cut spending for millions of people, and I’m not just talking about government research, putting scientists out of work, and I’m not just talking about infrastructure projects and renewal, putting engineers and construction workers out of work, and I’m not just talking about cuts to education spending, putting teachers out of work and cutting off students who rely on low-interest government subsidized loans, or partially paid tuition programs, when they cut funding to social security and medicare, millions of people will be unable to afford medication or insurance, so many of those people will die quickly or slowly, but the outcome is human suffering and human deaths, and this is all coming about because republicans have been spending like drunken sailors without paying for it with taxes, they always deficit spend, ever since ronnie reagan, they’ve not paid for a single thing they’ve wanted to do. All they ever do is cut funding to other programs, or put it on the tab our kids will have to pay off when republicans skip out on the check.Especially worrisome is that if you vote republican and are conservative, any bad news on this issue you are likely to plug your ears and shut your eyes on, so we won’t be able to address this issue until after it affects you personally, after thousands of people have literally died, because reality is different for certain partisans.This is what the problem is. If you believe in the right wing economic claptrap about tax cuts boosting the economy*, then you do not want to hear any fact that is contrary to your religious belief.(* they might work in the short term when you’re giving the rich money we don’t have in the form of tax cuts while our budget is already not balanced, and deficit spending at the same time, borrowing money from the future and spending it frivolously on rich people… until someone realizes hey, this spending spree on a credit card cannot continue forever, and we can never address budget problems by reversing tax cuts, so let’s cut vital spending that keeps people alive and keeps teachers, engineers, and scientists employed. Tax cuts take existing money… that is already being spent in a manner which immensely stimulates the economy, in the form of educators, scientists, engineers, construction workers, court clerks, etc having well-paying jobs, and sick, elderly, or disabled people having money to spend at the store, or paying the rent, or paying doctor’s bills, and it puts it into the hands of billionaires who absolutely cannot spend that money in a more efficient manner or a way that stimulates the economy more.Why?Because the sick, the elderly, the disabled, the teacher, the scientist, and the engineer do not benefit from having that money taken away and given to the Waltons, who may* (???) decide to hire more people.(*Why would they do this? They have money now, and if they would make more money by meeting demand by hiring more people, then they’ve already done so. But even if you pretend they’re magically going to create a million jobs to replace those lost by teachers, scientists, engineers, and government officials, those jobs are going to be minimum wage SHIT jobs).Those people who already benefit from government spending will not be part of the economy anymore, because they don’t benefit from Wal-mart having more sales clerks. They benefit from having medicine that keeps them alive, and if you think otherwise, there is something wrong with your critical thinking ability.Why are you willing to sacrifice millions of lives and jobs just so the rich can have a trillion dollars?You don’t actually think this will help the economy, do you? Meanwhile, teachers, scientists, engineers, pensioners, social security recipients, medicare recipients, all suffer, lose money, and stop spending, and many of the government employees have their jobs cut, and government contract workers have their jobs cut.We ignore all those numbers, which is dangerous and ill-advised and intellectually cowardly, but even worse is the absolute incontrovertible FACT that this will negatively impact way, way more people than the “benefits” of tax and spending cuts will positively impact.But, if you deliberately ignore the negatives and don’t include them in your math, then sure, “aggregate demand” goes up. For some unemployed people who now work at Wal-Mart, if Wal-Mart decides to hire more people for absolutely no reason whatsoever, since they’re already flush with cash, and giving billionaires more money doesn’t increase the demand at Wal-Mart.It’s like saying, I spent 1 trillion dollars to get 10 billion dollars in increased demand, while costing myself 990 billion dollars in demand elsewhere. I just increased demand by 10 billion dollars!That’s. Not. Math.That’s pure fantasy. Stop this nonsense!People are going to die because other people refuse to understand economics.
