PDF Editor FAQ
What is the rudest experience you had while going to a movie theater?
On a personal level, I have been sworn at for being in my booked seat. A young woman, with 5 young children in tow in a film rated 15 wanted to sit in the row I was in. She told me to “Get out of the fucking row you cunt, I want to sit there”.There were, of course no ushers, and I did not want to sit through the trauma of watching a film while her offspring screamed, so I left and got a refund[1].Most cinema experiences are unpleasant these days. So much so that the BBC’s flagship film programme[2] has produced a code of practice:http://www.bbc.co.uk/5live/films/code_of_conduct.pdf[1] The manager was actually apologetic that there were no ushers to see order, he said it was “head office policy”[2] Kermode and Mayo's Film Review - BBC Radio 5 live
What is the most disrespectful thing someone did to you while you were coding?
The most disrespectful thing someone did to me while I was coding? That’s easy:My office door is shut, closed, and, I’ve got my headphones on. In my peripheral vision, I can see the window next to the door, and, I can see the door (closed). Nothing and no one is bothering me.A co-worker walks-in and starts talking … all of this in my peripheral vision. The micro-blinds on the window next to the door were not closed. It was obvious my door was closed, and, I was concentrating on something.Did I mention the “Do Not Disturb” sign — yeah, we had those, too.In any case, co-worker barges in. Starts talking. I try to finish what I’m concentrating on, and, my co-worker yells at me: “Hey, pay attention!”Now, I’m kinda-touchy about being interrupted. I think that people should be more observant than obtuse in their interactions with each other. But, the whole combination of first barging-in, and then saying “Hey, pay attention!” — This has got to take the cake. (I had an office with a door for a reason; and we have an office policy about these things; and some numb-nuts idiot comes barging in — what else can you say or do you think about such situations/circumstances?)
Have you ever had to deal with a ridiculous policy at a doctor's office?
Yes and I changed doctors very quickly. I had a doctor that I have been going to for years. When I usually look for doctors, I try to find a male one so I can have someone I’m comfortable speaking to about “male related” issues. This doctor always had a nurse (female) sit in on my visits. I always found this strange but never said anything because at that point there was no need to. Well I started having an issue and needed to speak to him. When the nurse came in to do my vitals, she ask me what my appointment was for. I advised it was private and only wanted to speak to the doctor alone. She advised me per office policy a nurse ALWAYS needs to be in during office visits. She walked about and I was like WHAT? Thank god that all these years getting my physicals, it never involved me having to disrobe or have my privates checked. The doctor walks in (her right behind him), shakes my hand and asks what gong on. I told him I was not comfortable speaking about it in front of a female. He advised that “per their insurance” they must have a chaperone sitting in on all visits and not to be embarrassed, she has “heard it all before”. I advised that I was not comfortable with this policy and walked out. Found a doctor that has one-on-one visits and understands why.
