Did Gibson guitar quality go down at some point in the 1970's?

Gibson had ownership changes starting in 1969, but most people feel the most serious decline started in 1974 when Norlin took the company over. There were specific changes made to the guitars to cut costs and the actual factory was moved from Kalamazoo where it had been to Nashville meaning many long time craftsman were replaced. So in general people look down upon Gibson’s made in the 70’s and 80’s (the company was sold by Norlin in 1986 and the consensus is that improvement started almost immediately). So when people go in a shop they tend to automatically look down on Gibson’s made in particular from 74 through 86. But there are still decent Gibson’s from that era and of course they are much cheaper than 1950’s and 1960’s Gibson’s (some late 50’s Les Paul’s can fetch well over $100k, I’ve seen asking prices over $200k). You can get 60’s and early 70’s instruments a lot cheaper than some of the vintage 50’s of course, but it can still cost quite a bit to get one in good shape. So I’ve always felt that trying out those late 70’s and early 80’s Gibson’s was worthwhile. There are some pretty good ones that you can find for a reasonable price (although to be honest some of the Gibson knock offs made during that period were just as good and they of course come real cheap). But I never put down (or praise) any guitar just based on its heritage. To me trying it out and playing it is the only real test. So give it a try if you see one for a good price in a shop.

Is the Villanova school of business better than Georgetown McDonough undergrad since Villanova is higher ranking?

I love Faraz’s answer! And I can’t agree more that rankings are silly. I’ve been out of school for years so to me rankings seem so petty and insignificant. Of my classmates at Villanova I can think of only three or four that are still involved in their actual major subject. Life will take you on paths you can’t even imagine yet.So one important question is: Do you want to live in Washington, D.C. ?D.C., Baltimore City among top murder capitals in U.S.Or do you want to live in the most prestigious area of the country’s ONLY world heritage city?Philadelphia is the Nation's First World Heritage CityAmerica's Most Prestigious Suburbshttps://pabook.libraries.psu.edu/literary-cultural-heritage-map-pa/feature-articles/philadelphias-main-line-its-not-just-place-its

Is spiritual awakening a myth?

“Myth: 1a. A traditional story dealing with supernatural beings, ancestors, or heroes that informs or shapes the worldview of a people, as by explaining aspects of the natural world or delineating the customs or ideals of society. 3. A fiction or half-truth…” (Source: American Heritage College Dictionary)In short, yes and no. While this definition describes it as a traditional story, it is also a currently available experience to everyone. And, no, it is not fictitious. To a person who has had the experience, like myself, it was rapid and emotionally overwhelming. Prior to the onset, I was an atheist, gun-owning, beer-drinking, paleo-eating, left of center individual growing a start-up business. Since then, I have sold my firearms and most of my possessions, vastly stopped drinking, stopped eating meat, started praying, meditating, and reading about every spiritual concept within reach, and camped in my van drown by the river ;)A spiritual awakening is a whole mind, body, heart, and consciousness experience. It happens as the consequence of very deep (you could say subconscious) desire to understand the nature of the Universe and reality itself on a much deeper level, as well as where you fit into the big picture. Many or most people who have had this type of experience come to many very similar conclusions about the nature of our collective reality. But, really, the most important thing is to realize “the heroes journey” as explained by Joseph Campbell. This is the age of individual evolution. I am responsible only for my own growth and development as you are for yours. Take responsibility. Face your fears. Open your mind and your heart. Become your own scientist.“Buckle your seatbelt, Dorothy. 'Cause Kansas is goin' bye-bye.”
