Now that you are done with NEET, another battle of counsellings is knocking the doors 😂So in simple terms counselling is the process by which everyone is alotted a college. Considering COVID scares it will be entirely online hopefully. The forms will be released by respective states and the central committees (you will need to actively check their websites for notifications), you are required to fill them CORRECTLY and within time. You might also be asked to attatch your documents so make sure you have everything handy.In the counsellings you would be asked to select your choice of colleges in a list format. My suggestion- fill relevant colleges only. If you have a rank of 6k, don’t waste your time filling up MAMC or VMMC. Research properly about previous year cutoffs and then fill. The colleges are alotted on the basis of your rank and quota (if any).I do suggest getting in touch with some seniors if your rank is enough to get a college in the first round. Get a review of the college from them and then decide. I have seen a lot of people changing colleges in subsequent rounds and it involves a lot of stress and paperwork.Once the results of the counselling come, you will get a college where you’ll have to report in a given time to pay your fees and complete the paperwork formalities. If you aren’t alotted in first round you take part in the subsequent ones.Lastly a word of caution- please do not make mistakes in the form or in the paperwork. Read everything twice and be very sure of what you are writing. Don’t complicate situations for yourself.Goodluck! ^_^

You’re not the first one to notice this. I think about it a lot when the subject of sex education comes up. Particularly when people complain about schools teaching abstinence-only sex education, as if parents are incapable of covering everything else if they don’t like the school’s curriculum.Welp, our child’s school didn’t show them how to use a condom. I guess they’ll never know how to use one. If only someone would teach them that…It’s the same when teens complain about schools not teaching them how to fill out their taxes.Mom, dad… I’m just calling you to let you know that I don’t know how to do my taxes, because the school failed the teach me how to do this. I can’t think of any other way for me to learn this life skill. If only there were a way for you to pass on your knowledge about this to me…It’s not just teaching them everything, but also feeding students breakfast and lunch, filling out college applications, providing basic healthcare and mental care for them, and, in some high schools, providing daycare for their children.Anyway, your question was about why so many people expect schools to do all of these things. The answer is good intentions that push bad policies that replace parental responsibility with government responsibility, and their predictable, unintended consequences.It goes something like this:A small percentage of parents drop the parenting ball in a specific area, which leads to problems for their children in that area.I got pregnant at sixteen because my parents never taught me about safe sex…The government steps in to pick up that ball, for the sake of those children.The public school should teach about safe sex techniques, since some parents aren’t doing it…More parents, knowing that the government will pick up that ball, start dropping the ball.Thank God I don’t have to have that uncomfortable conversation with my child. The school will handle it…Eventually, everyone expects the government to handle that ball for everyone.There are still schools that teach abstinence-only sex ed? In this day and age?!?! We must change that!If people point out that the government should pass that ball right back to the parents, they’re called “cold-hearted” or “unsympathetic.”So you’d rather more teens get pregnant than have the government teach safe sex? You’re so old-fashioned and unsympathetic.Thus, another responsibility is shifted from the individual level to the government level.

At age 25 I learned how to enjoy hard work. I was back in college at Cal Poly in engineering school. My wife was working and I had a part time job or a contractor who built custom homes. When they stared a new home the lot had to be cleaned and brought to grade.for the position of the house. Then a mechanical digger would come in and dig the foundation. I had access to a tractor to prepare the site but cleaning out the foundation and make it ready for the forms, my tools were a shovel and a wheel barrow. I was by myself, usually on a Saturday with piles of dirt that had to be moved leaving the foundation clean for the carpenters to build the forms. I could not use the tractor because it would cave in the dirt trenches that would contain the footing. If I wanted Sunday off I had to get it done on Saturday. I just had to get the dirt out of the foundation area and dump it where I could use the tractor. I tried different methods of shoveling and counted how many shovels to fill the wheel barrow. I put down boards to make it easier for the wheel borrow. Often, I was running with the wheel borrow to cut down on my transport time. After about 3 months I figured out a plan. If I was there with the digger I could keep the ditch clean of loose dirt and if John the foreman would pull out the dirt piles with the tractor as we went, we could complete a foundation in less than a half day. And, I was stronger than I have ever been. My previous three years were at a desk job in tool engineering. The secret is; when you can enjoy digging ditches then everything else is downhill.Iguana
