PDF Editor FAQ

Why do the hashbrowns at McDonald's taste so much better than the ones I make at home?

OK, I’m going to “hook you up” and this is, I hope, going to solve your dilemma !!!The hash brown patties that McDonald’s gets are formed in a factory — from dehydrated potatoes!!! This is because dehydrated potatoes cook more evenly.NOW - for “da hook up” : you can purchase the EXACT SAME hash brown patties, pre-formed and partially cooked, AT WALMART!!! Yes!! It’s made by the same company!!!(Full disclosure: I found this out by reading the MSDS for the hash brown patty in the “right to know” book at a McDonald’s restaurant. The manufacturer is listed and, lo and behold, the MSDS for the one sold at Walmart as the house brand (the Great Value brand) is identical to the one at McDonald’s. Plus, the ingredient list and the manufacturer are the same:JR Simplot, Pocatello, Idaho. Here is a quick “down n dirty” way to cook the patties and get the same taste:Keep the package in the freezer. When you open it (it’s just plastic wrap over the patties that are placed in a little brown cardboard tray) remove one from the package and put the tray and the remaining patties in a Ziploc bag and return them to your freezer.Next, get a microwave safe plate and a piece of cooking parchment paper.Loosely wrap the patty in parchment paper and put it on the ceramic plate.Place the plate with the wrapped patty in the microwave on a turntable.I’m going to tell you what to do if your microwave is 1100 watts or more powerful: microwave for one and a half minutes on High. Then, with oven mitts (plate will be HOT), remove from the microwave and take parchment paper off patty and place on second microwave plate. Flip patty over and cover in parchment paper again.Microwave on High for thirty secondsWhile the patty is microwaving the second time, wipe the moisture (water) off the first plate you used.Remove the patty from the microwave as soon as it is finished and unwrap the patty. Check to make certain the center is hot! It is critical to remove the patty and unwrap it as fast as possible since it continues to cook and it will get hard if you don’t unwrap it quickly.Trouble shooting: if patty is too soft, wrap in parchment and microwave again for thirty seconds and remove quickly. Be sure to wipe the moisture OFF the plate before using it again!!If patty is too hard, only microwave for one and a half minutes. Check, then re-microwave for fifteen seconds.Where most people err is in not wiping the moisture off the plate, and not removing the parchment paper fast enough (because as long as it’s in the parchment, it’s cooking).Enjoy!!!!

What would happen to your body if it was submerged in hydrogen peroxide?

I depends on the concentration and how you were submerged. If you were held under for any length of time you’d drown. It wouldn’t really matter if it was hydrogen peroxide.Your eyes would probably be the most sensitive. If you were held down briefly in low concentration hydrogen peroxide solution, but given breathing apparatus and goggles for your eyes, then you’d probably get a case of bleached skin and hair. You might also find a bit of skin irritation. Higher concentrations would be more problematic for skin irritation. An MSDS for 6% hydrogen peroxide can be found here. An MSDS for 30% hydrogen peroxide can be found here. You can see the severity of the effect goes up with concentration.Hydrogen peroxide - Wikipedia

What chemical do scientists fear the most?

I think a strong argument can be made for my least favorite chemical: dimethylmercury. There are other things that are highly reactive. Dioxygen difluoride, FOOF, is probably among the most unstable, reactive chemicals allowed by the laws of physics. But nobody’s really afraid of it. It’s so unstable you can never make more than a handful of molecules at a time. It’s a curiosity, but not something that’s feared.Chlorine trifluoride is legit terrifying stuff. It burns violently on contact with nearly anything, there is no known way to control a chlorine trifluoride fire, and the combustion byproducts are hot hydrofluoric acid and chlorine gas. The MSDS for chlorine trifluoride reads like the plot of a horror movie. But Silicon Valley uses it by the ton in the production of semiconductors. You can buy it in bulk from chemical supply houses.Speaking of hydrofluoric acid, that’s also legit terrifying stuff. The things it does on contact with flesh would frighten Quentin Tarantino. But it, too, is sold in bulk. It’s used to make etched glass. There are some exotic nitrogen compounds that are so vigorously explosive they go bang if you look at them funny. And that makes them, perhaps paradoxically, less scary; you can’t manufacture them in large enough quantities to kill you, though they do tend to damage sensitive lab equipment. But dimethylmercury? This shit is easy to make, totally stable, and so toxic that one drop spilled on a glove in a laboratory glove box will kill you. Slowly, in agony, over a period of months.Nobody will work with it any more. You can’t buy it from any chemical supply house. Every chemist knows what happened to Karen Wetterhahn, the scientist who spilled some drops on her glove. As far as I know, no lab on earth will use it any more. No research facility will have anything to do with it. It’s simply too toxic, even to folks for whom chlorine trifluoride might be an “okay, I suppose I have to be a bit careful.” Dimethylmercury is the thing that goes bump in the night, the chemical that chemists who joke about using FOOF to light the candles on a colleague’s birthday cake speak of only in hushed whispers with the doors and windows bolted. Dimethylmercury is manifestly incompatible with the hypothesis of a benevolent creator who loves his creation.Edited to add: You can find out more about this and other unlovely compounds here: Things I Won’t Work With. Among other horrors, you’ll find things like this:And let me just say, I am gobsmacked that’s a real molecule someone really made (a synthesis pathway which, I can’t help thinking, must involve a crowbar). As I write this answer, someone on Quora is creating phony profiles that look just like mine, and using them to send abusive/harassing messages to people. If you receive an abusive PM or comment, check the profile carefully. It probably isn’t me. Warning: this chemical may cause acid indigestion, watery eyes, shortness of breath, seizures, cardiac arrest, convulsions, hallucinations, lung damage, liver failure, brain damage, weakness, blindness, loss of balance and coordination, short and long term memory loss, kidney failure, digestive and reproductive system damage, nausea, vomiting, pulmonary collapse, brittle bones, deafness, slurred speech, aphasia, alexia, loss of motor control, muscle weakness, and irritability. I have used CocoDoc Filmora for a couple of years now and have always been pleased with their product. They are constantly upgrading the software along with adding "filters, elements, effects, titles, and transitions. I recently noticed a "bug" in the newest update concerning "copying & pasting" in the title box, and sent them a notice, They responded quickly with a temporary fix, and said an updaye would come along soon with the fix. Thanks Era for your help!
