Have you ever found something in your child's backpack that enraged you?

Yes, my youngest son’s backpack. This happened earlier this year on February 22nd. He was just 3 1/2 yrs old at the time and attended a Pre-K program that was approved by the Committee on Preschool Special Education for him to receive a school bus to go to attend for him to go to Pre-K to receive IEP Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Special Education services as he was born a late-term preemie and has some developmental delays (I immediately had him evaluated when I noticed he began to regress in his developmental milestones and skills). When I filled out the paperwork at our school district building, as well as all of the paperwork for the Pre-K school he would attend I made sure to make more than noticeable written notes that my son is allergic to Apples. Then when he began his 1st day of school, I let his bus drivers also know this verbally and they made note of this their selves as well. Then when my son came home from school I found that the teacher put a Communication Book in his bookbag so I made sure to write a note in there for my son’s teacher and therapists and school nurse to all read (because everyone the kids at the school come into contact with during the school day is trained to read each child’s Communication Book first and foremost before anything is done) letting ALL of them know in written form that my son has an Apple allergy. When my son’s teacher, therapists, and school nurse would call me to discuss treats or anything pertaining to the children at school to eat, I made sure to verbally remind them that my son is Allergic to Apples so he cannot have Applesauce, Apples, Apple Juice, any fruit juices they have at the school most likely has Apple Juice as one of the ingredients…I told them that the ONLY food my son was the eat at school is ALL of the food I packed into my son’s lunchbox each and every day (And I ALWAYS stuffed his lunchbox FULL of food…sandwich, fruit, veggies, Honest Kids Goodness Grapeness Juice because it does not have any Apple in it at all so its safe for him, cookies, graham crackers, crackers or chips…And with my being Allergy conscious and familiar with the Nut Free School policies at schools because I am a Mother of 5 children and because of my Kiwi Fruit allergy, my oldest son who has a dairy allergy, my 2nd youngest son who is allergic to Avocado and my youngest who is allergic to Apples…I always ensured that nothing containing Nuts of any kind and Nut butters and Nut Oils has ever been sent to school with my kids). So, I made sure to be extremely proactive in informing my son’s school, teacher, therapists, nurse, bus driver, and bus aide…etc regarding my youngest son’s Apple Allergy…Written in our school district records, written in the special Pre-K school’s records, written in my son’s Communication Book that went back and forth with my son between school and home, Verbally to my son’s teacher and therapists and school nurse and bus driver and bus aide…So I covered every single angle to protect my son…THEN on February 22nd, 2019 my then 3 1/2 yrs old son arrived home on his school bus. As soon as he came down the stairs on his bus he said: “Tummy Hurts.” I smelled a diarrhea mess in his pull up so I got him inside quickly to clean him up and change his pull up.Then I went to open his bookbag to go through it and found a plastic bag of APPLES with 1 Apple having had a bite taken out of it in which the bite mark is the same size at my little 3 1/2-year-old son’s bite-size!!!!The bus aide and bus driver have a no eating and drinking policy on their school bus so I knew it did not occur on my son’s school bus…PLUS when ALL of the children board the school bus, the bus aide and bus driver put ALL of the children’s backpacks up in the front of the bus so when the children are getting off of the bus when they get home then the parents can easily reach for and grab their child’s backpack while getting their child off of the bus…This would have ONLY occurred at my son’s school!! SOMEONE gave my son an Apple (when my son doesn’t understand his Apple allergy yet and depends on the adults around him to protect him!!)…And my son would have begun having his Allergic reaction at school and NO ONE did anything to help him and NO ONE called me and NO ONE called my son’s pediatrician NOR his pediatric allergy specialist!!!! My son was left to suffer from stomach pain, stomach cramping, developing hives and rash, severe diarrhea and of course, he didn’t want to eat the food I packed for him in his lunch bag (YET the stupid people who were supposedly watching over and supposed to protect my son did not realize what was wrong!!!!)I quickly gave my son his Benadryl for the allergic reaction and Pepto Bismol chewable to treat the diarrhea, ginger ale with real ginger oil and saltine crackers to treat the nausea that progressed to vomiting, and then rash cream to ease the itchy painful rash too. That night I gave him an oatmeal bath too to ease the discomfort before bedtime and put more cream on the rash and hives.I contacted my son’s school but found no one was there, as by the time my son arrived home from school it was about 4pm. So I went above and beyond usual means to get in contact with someone to file a complaint by going onto Facebook and contacting the organization in charge of the school via Facebook messenger in order to fight to get a hold of someone after school hours…I received a call back first from the Quality Control Specialist and then the Principal of the school who both promised me that they would open an investigation, they both profusely apologized and said they had no idea how this had happened when they had been informed by me in every possible way (as I am very careful to cover my bases as I am my children’s greatest protector and Momma Bear) but they both promised me that they would find out who gave my son the Apples and make sure that this never occurred again…The Quality Control Specialist asked me if she could pick up the bag of Apples…As I worried that this may be a tactic to try to cover up this incident to try to save face…I made sure to take pictures of the bag of Apples and including the Apple with the bite taken out of it in the bag as well…BEFORE I agreed to hand the bag of Apples over to anyone from this school…I attempted to send my son to school for the first 3 days while the investigation was ongoing, but on the 3rd day when my son’s bus driver and bus aide brought him home, the bus aide and bus driver both told me that my son’s behavior drastically changed…They both told me that during those 3 days that my son began to scream, cry, panic and fight as they pulled the school bus up to the school and he fought to not be taken into…This is not a behavior that my son had exhibited before…and this was during the investigation…I began to get a strong gut feeling that the person who gave my son the Apples was angry at being investigated or caught and disciplined and took their anger in some way out on my son…I immediately pulled my son out of the school and contacted the Committee on Preschool Education to file to have my son’s IEP services changed to In-Home.So my son receives his Speech Therapy at 30 minutes twice a week, Occupational Therapy at 30 minutes twice a week and Special Education Therapy Services at 60 minutes once a week In-home every week, even during the summer. He’s safe, he’s happy, he receives his therapy services…and we are waiting to find out if he will be chosen to attend 4 yrs old Pre-K at his big brother’s elementary school (that I know is VERY good and careful with food allergies) OR if we will continue In-Home therapy services throughout this coming school year and then start Kindergarten next year in September…At least I know he will be safe at his big brother’s school when he does start to go there…Safety and Education must go hand in hand…***************************************************************************************WOW! 1,000 Upvotes!! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!!I am happy to update that my son began to attend a new school a few weeks ago that is approximately 3 blocks away from our home. He’s doing great. His teacher loves him. His teacher’s aide loves him. The kids in his class love him. My son’s IEP therapists go over to his school and work with him. AND we’re gradually working through his sensory processing disorder so he’s gradually with great success finally getting potty trained!! :)

How do you find a lost iPhone?

The best (and only) way to get your iPhone back is through Apple’s native feature, Find My iPhone. The app comes pre-installed on every iOS device and can display your missing device on a map to help you easily locate and manage it. You’ll need a computer or another iOS device with the “Find My iPhone” app to deploy this feature, however. Sadly, these features are only available when your phone is powered on and connected to the internet. To use the feature, simply log into iCloud and open the Find my iPhone feature. The Apple service will locate your phone on a map and give you the option to play a sound on your device, send a message to your phone with “lost mode,” or erase its contents. All of this can be done without any additional configurations.Find my iPhone is also able to locate your Mac, iPod, and iPad. It’s an incredibly effective tool for tracking down just about any iOS device.Apple also utilizes another form of security, known as Activation Lock, to keep your iPhone safe from theft. Like the reactivation lock for Samsung smartphones, Activation Lock requires you to enter your Apple ID and password before you can disable Find My iPhone, wipe your device, or reactivate it.

What are the first-mover, long-term advantages for the banks that initially joined Apple in launching Apple Pay?

Behaviors Get Changed And Hopefully CementedThere are a number of obvious and non obvious reasons for all in the payments ecosystem to be a first mover in adopting and promoting Apple Pay.First Mover: The BanksFor banks that issue payment cards, their very existence is predicated on motiving use and causing a preference for their product, service and brand. To the casual observer, most payment cards may appear to be relatively the same and more or less generic. Yet billions of dollars are spent every year to move just .01 more transactions from one bank to another. The marketing is sometimes very subtle and sometimes very obvious but all designed for you and I to shift our payment choices because of the perception of higher rewards, greater utility or higher savings. One foundational reason these large banks are supporting Apple Pay is to be the first preference in Passbook. This forms the default payment card for Apple Pay when you are at a retail location or are using Apple Pay in a supported app.The early marketing efforts from these banks will pay off in the long term simply by shunting more transactions to the preferred and default payment choice. The end result just from this aspect can mean significant increase in market share, where even .005 shifts represent notable profit increases.Another foundational reason for banks to move so fast to support Apple Pay is the perceptions that comes from aligning with the most successful consumer and technology companies in history. This perception allows the bank to have a halo effect that shows they are forward thinking and moving in the direction that many of their customers are.Another foundational reason is the lowered rate of fraud. The fact is, Apple Pay transactions will have nearly 0% chance of fraud. It is the card issuing bank that ultimately faces the burden of fraudulent charges. Apple Pay assures the tokenized transaction can only be used one time at one merchant.Banks have shown an unprecedented support for Apple Pay and thus far have been aggressively promoting the service with no cost to Apple. This is win-win for both parties and is one of the reasons Apple Pay is the most important change in payments since Dorothea Perry accidentally invented the credit card by ironing IBM magnetic tape to a card.First Mover: The MerchantThere has never been such a massive demand for equipment upgrades from small to large merchants in the history of payments. These merchants are not waiting, they are demanding upgrades today and a vast majority pay $0 for the upgrade. Just like the banks, the astute merchants know that behavior changes establish early will likely become cemented. They are leaving any payment service that does not have an Apple Pay solution today. Tomorrow is too long. My research shows that not only are merchants attracting new customers because of Apple Pay, these customers spend more money, more often. The small merchant is driving the huge expansion of Apple Pay acceptance, and rightly so, they are the darwinian example of success if they last a few years competing with large, well financed national companies. They have finely tuned awareness, perhaps an instinct on what is important. A vast majority just knew Apple Pay was important and took action to be a first mover, even if the company supporting their payment processing was still “thinking about it”. They said time and time again to these companies, “show don’t say” and they resist the political posturing of some larger merchants with other agendas.First Mover: The Merchant Processors / Payment CompaniesNot supporting Apple Pay at this very moment is a guarantee that you will lose merchants. There is no other way to see this. This situation is true for legacy payment companies as well as startup payment companies. However it is far, far more pronounced with merchants that were attracted to the tech savvy payment startups. If you attract a merchant because of your adoption of technology, you will surely lose them if you are slow to adopt technology. This profound reversal is already a verified and noted phenomena and will only get worse as we move through 2015. The astute payment companies already knew Apple Pay was coming and pre-notified 1000s of merchants to be Apple Pay ready- day one.It will be the oddity of history that the most trumpeted technology based payment startups in the world did not rally around Apple Pay, promote it and have a solution for loyal merchants day one. To them, these payment startups have done a profound disservice by waiting.First Mover: The ConsumerThe Apple customer is no ordinary customer, they by far are the most vocal and loyal customers to be found. They wait in lines. They used smaller phone screens all out of the love of Apple products. Well these same people have fell in love with Apple Pay. Use it one time and you simply want to world to change. They have no desire to hear the debates some larger merchants are having about other products. They simply don’t care. They see Apple Pay as a fast, safe and secure extension of the payment card they have already used for years and will take their business elsewhere if it is not supported, today. This shift is profound and can be detected at large and small merchants. From Grocery Stores to small coffee cafes, people want to use Apple Pay now.The Customer Is Always RightThus it is practical and pragmatic for every aspect of the payments ecosystem to support Apple Pay. The dividends are already paying off for all involved with cardholder behavior shifting to preferred cards used at preferred merchants. And all of this comes about at no additional true costs to all involved. For the consumer, the customer is right, they want to use Apple Pay, today. For the merchant, the customer is right, they want Apple Pay acceptance solutions, today. There is simply no reason not to support Apple Pay if you are part of the payments ecosystem and if you were astute enough, listened to the correct advice, you are today already getting huge returns on being a first mover bank or merchant and you are attracting the first mover customers.Everyone wins.
