We call this life.However, we are not bothered with this ingenious function of our own body and have an altogether different agenda for this body as a whole. It means there is a disconnect between the cellular mechanism and external action of our body. The disconnect is becoming more and more apparent as we pursue external objects more vehemently. In the process, we become stressed.What is stress?Stress is a condition where the physical body and mind are prepared for the extreme situation of survival, ‘either fight or run away’. Modern life is preparing us for this kind of war like situation without any respite. The situation is created by the desires, the wants of our mind and these thoughts of the mind are interconnected with the physical body function through the Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA)axis. This constantly releases adrenaline and cortisol which keeps our body in overdrive. This condition disturbs the immune system and it becomes less capable.Mutation constantly occurs in our genes. Whenever mutated genes are circulating, the immune system identifies those genes and quarantines and destroys them, When immunity becomes less, mutated genes start expressing their own proteins which do not come under normal regulations. They start dividing abnormally. This abnormal purposeless division is cancer.We are indeed swimming in the ocean of carcinogens everyday. To make matters worse, traders are hell bent on producing carcinogens in the form of the use of chemicals in the food industry. Carbon monoxide emitted by vehicles, smoking and drinking alcohol are all reasons that result in the mutation of genes. If we do not have enough immunity to fight this mutation, it results in cancer.Once cancer develops, we go to the hospital, spend a lot of money, experience duress, pain, insult in an effort to postpone death. However, the life what we live with cancer is not worth the effort because it is devoid of quality.Instead of thinking of cure for cancer which is not possible (only particular types of cancers may be cured, which are very few. Beware, extension of life for five years with cancer is taken as cure!), why don’t we try to prevent cancer?Cancer is preventable.If you become spiritual, and shift your identification from the body/mind to consciousness through meditation and right living, it is completely possible to be free of stress. Becoming free of stress is the best antidote of cancer. Even after contracting cancer, if you adapt this method of detachment from the body/mind and attachment to consciousness, it is possible to say ‘good bye’ to the cancer. Many cases of cancer are cured like this. However, we attribute such cures to some religious beliefs or the magic touch of a spiritual person. This is wrong.When you identify with your consciousness, the body rectifies its defects by itself as there is no external pressure on it. It gets synchronized. If we do not rub the wound, the wound heals. The answers given so far have touched upon central and northern east Europe. I’ll try to add a little info on the southern part.Much like the western counterpart, the east tried to coagulate it’s efforts in different pre statal forms of existence, like unions of tribes, provinces, voivods and after that duchies, principalities and kingdoms. The lands that have been reached by the carolingian influence or authority, had some pre-urban settlements and the same can be said about the southern parts influenced by the orthodox empire.The most important authority of the south-east was the Byzantine Empire, whose influence was deeply felt by most European neighbors. This is part of the fallout from the “opioid crisis”. Big Brother is watching us, the physicians, and you, the patients! All opioids are schedule II and as such will be forever embedded in the national CURES database which is intended to inform physicians and pharmacists if a patient is receiving prescriptions from multiple prescribers and whether the patient is increasing or decreasing requests. As Dr Krin indicated below, a contract is to be formed between the patient and a single prescriber. If I am to do surgery on a patient under contract for opioid dependence then it is my duty to inform the patient’s other physician and formulate a plan for post-operative management. Often they will require a bump up to get them through and usually I prescribe other non-opioid pain management drugs to assist. It's complicated and often very unfair, but there is pressure on the federal government to bring an end to the crisis so the pressure is then redirected at the physicians and the patients. It won't solve drug addiction, but it will end the physician supply line. Sadly, the most dependent are forced to purchase on the street or from the dark web and what is being passed as oxycodone is laced with incredibly potent versions of synthesized fentanyl. The more potent the drug, the smaller the package and the easier to deliver to our addicted communities. These are where the deaths occur—from unregulated, highly potent, synthetics. It is well recognized among physicians that opioid addiction is a social disease like alcoholism and requires community outreach and support. No job? No money? Nothing to look forward to in the future? It is not a wonderful life and opioids offer the hopeless a brief respite from their misery. As communities we must recognize the cries for help before the addiction occurs.
