Not just defined by buy it and use it, but loads of good software guaranteed to be virus free that can be integrated with iPads and iPhones.. very often, but there are a whole universe of business applications available.Check out AccountEdge for a serious platform independent accounting package that integrates with a Great 3rd Party POS solution as well as numerous other services such as payroll, Credit Card processing. This package is available in a simple and pro version and the pro version costs $400 but, I have installed accounting systems that cost $10,000+ that don't hold a candle.Small Business Accounting Software for Mac, Windows, and MobileYou can also get QuickBooks or Quicken Essentials.. but I have gotten frustrated with these.. though they are nice in some situations. ( 1 - 100 employees more or less)Microsoft Office is available in Office 365 for Mac and this is limited in that Access and Microsoft Project and Publisher are not available for the Mac. There are many good project management packages for the Mac, but the real exciting things are happening on the Web in project management.. so looking at the Mac as a project management platform is less interesting now a days.. though I just love a product called inShort by Shortki Lab. which is usable but not yet where I want it to be.. but first package in a decade that is threatening to rival MacProject by Claris of bygone days. Look at Trello and Wrike for Web based offerings.Nothing screams business like a server, and the MacOS equivalent to Microsoft Windows Server 2012 is Server 3 is trying to get ready for prime time.. sorry about that… if you are not faint of heart install Mountain Lion on the Server and use Version 2, which is pretty amazing. Version 3 is about one more revision away from being awesome.. though the cries of anguish have definitely been abated by this months update. The VPN issue is fixed.. and works great now.The upside is that this is a fully cross platform server that works with Windows and iDevices. You can have your own mail server which is getting to be desirable again as the price for mail boxes shoots up to $5 per user per month on average.. Godaddy increased the pricing on its unlimited email boxes this year by an order of magnitude, but you cannot even find this price as they are only providing links for new customers to Microsoft Office 365 mail. Which isn't bad, but if you have 20 people.. email is all of the sudden $100/mo. The server includes calendar, chat, wiki, web service, database, contacts, and backup services. It is an amazing product considering the price.. $20.00 Yep you are seeing straight.Adobe has created a subscription based system of buying their Adobe Creative Cloud Master Suite of products and it is a solid value.. at $50/mo this is less than the cost of upgrading the old student edition. And the Student Edition is much less. (But, College is much more.. so not that great a deal)And, welcome to the real world, AutoCAD 2014 for the Mac plain rocks.. and coupled with the iPad version of AutoCAD 360 for $5/mo it is an unbeatable tool for engineering and design.These aren't the days of writing off Apple as an ornament or status symbol to sit on your desk.
