Jason Kenney is almost as stupid as his mentor, former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who gave an interview in New York and openly antagonized President Obama by none to subtly ridiculing him for delaying his decision on KXL by saying it was “a complete no brainer.”Edit.Correction.Jason Kenney proved he’s an even thicker brick and much dumber than his fence post mentor Stephen Harper.Last November Jason Kenney publicly insulted Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer of being “brain dead” because she was launching legal measures to shut down Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline.He didn’t insult just some random Democrat Governor but a close and powerful ally of President Joe Biden. She was co-chair of his national election campaign.Takes some special kind of being really stupid to insult a person who has the ear of the very guy you want to woo over to your way of thinking about KXL.And, in typical Kenney fashion, with the rescinding the of KXL permit, he has accused the American President of not showing respect to Canada and Alberta because he didn’t sit down and consult with the Alberta and Canadian government in the days leading up to his well stated plan to kill it on his first day in office.Excuse me?Where was Kenney’s respect when he was throwing around juvenile insults?Anyhow… end of editNothing like pissing off the very people you need to win over to your side.The controversial Keystone XL would be carrying low quality bitumen from the Alberta oil sands to the few Gulf coast refineries that are capable of handling it.This pipeline has nothing to do with the transportation of any American fossil fuels.There is huge environmental risks to American lands and water, with very little economic benefit beyond a relatively small (in the big picture) number of construction jobs and as little as 35 permanent jobs for Americans once completed.Of course there would be a measure of economic benefit to the refineries, but nothing astronomical.The driving force behind Keystone XL has always been the political need of the Alberta provincial government.That need revolves around keeping employed the huge numbers of people required directly, and indirectly, by the oil sands.This is where a large percentage of Jason Kenney’s United Conservative Party’s voters are found.The mining of bitumen is very labour intensive (much, much more than conventional oil drilling), which means large numbers of people employed throughout all phases of bringing a bitumen mine into production.There is huge capital costs of manufacturing the needed infrastructure and the large scale, specialized machinery needed for an oil sands operation.Then there are the massive work camps to support and house the thousands of workers, and the related services needed in communities such as Fort McMurray.The jobs created by the oil sands are pretty much more important politically to the Alberta government (and to a lesser degree the Canadian federal government), than the resource revenue generated by royalties from the oil derived from the bitumen.The oil sands of Alberta are marginally economically feasible even when oil is well above $100/barrel.With oil having bounced between $30 and $60 per barrel for quite some time now, and with no return to the heady $100+ days likely to occur anytime soon, if this was any other type of business it would have been allowed to whither and die because of its unprofitably and bleak future.Baring the unlikely event that Trump won a second term, Jason Kenney gambled big time (and has most certainly lost) on a Hail Mary attempt at trying to ensure that KXL would be allowed under a Biden administration.His ramping up and financing construction on the Canadian portion of the pipeline was, in a way, a type of blackmail to get his way.Kenney’s move was designed to force the Canadian federal government to push Biden hard on KXL.And I would imagine Kenney was also hoping to kind of guilt trip Biden too, playing up the bit about Canada being America’s closest ally and supplier of secure energy.His gambit was that Biden would simply shrug his shoulders and meekly submit to Jason Kenney’s wishes.EditKeystone XL was to have gone from Hardisty, Alberta to Steel City, Nebraska. A length of 1,947 km (1210 miles).Only 150 km (93 miles) of the Keystone XL pipeline was completed in Canada upon President Biden rescinding the presidential permit on Jan. 20/21.What is more interesting is that a very small 2.2 km (1.4 miles) section was completed across the border between Canada and the United States way back near the end of May last year.Alberta Premier Jason Kenney staged a photo op and press conference around it.The only reason TC Energy and their political backer, the Alberta government, would built a wee small section going across the border would be to use it as another prop to push their agenda.End edit.The pipeline capacity that KXL would provide help preventing, or at least minimizing, Alberta bitumen being sold at a discounted rate. This is due to the squeeze of capacity pressures in getting it to market, but also because of its poorer quality and need for intensive refining procedures.However, the elephant in the room is that the Alberta oil sands have become an international pariah.With their high levels of CO2 emissions, their toxic tailing ponds leaching into the earth and water supply, the nearly incomprehensible amount of boreal forest and wetlands destroyed and moonscaped, the oil sands are an environmental nightmare.President elect Biden has telegraphed for months before the election that he would cancel the permit for KXL. Just as it was cancelled when he was VP under President Obama.The fact that President Trump reversed President Obama’s decision wasn’t done on a sudden new discovery of the benefits of KXL, rather it was Trump’s love of money and, as another commentator on Quora wrote, his childish need to attack and undo any policy of his predecessor.That Alberta Premier Jason Kenney would gamble $1.5 billion (mostly raided from the Alberta teachers pension fund) and guaranteed another $6 billion in loans was simply another example of his utter stupidity.Everybody with half an ounce of brains in their head knew that KXL would be cancelled.Everybody it seems other than a delusional Alberta Premier who now seems to think he knows better how to run American affairs than does President Biden.

I don’t know if it is considered a knock-off but I owned and used a Power Pressure Cooker XL before owning and using an Instant Pot. In my opinion the short answer to your question is NO.Two things that I found inferior with the PPCXL were the interior pot and the steam release knob.The pot in the Instant Pot is solid with a shiny surface and easy to clean. The PPCXL pot had some sort of coating which I assume was meant to be non-stick but it quickly got scratched and I worried that this was leaching into the food. The bottom of the PPCXL pot also had a waffley textured surface instead of smooth. It was (like all non-stick in general) actually harder to clean and the design here was just not well thought out for cooking or cleaning i.e. real world use. The knob on the PPCXL was also not set well and while they are both meant to “float” the PPCXL seemed uncomfortably loose and unreliable.
