One mistake, of wrongly copying a function from a GPL'ed component would put the whole company at risk by rendering its Intellectual Property under threat.If any developer used any open source GPL component in a release version of Windows, he/she would mostly likely be fired & that version would be rolled back. And in the foreseeable many years, that is likely to stay that way - Microsoft would not use a line of code from Linux.What happens if you use a wrong open source component?If Microsoft wrongly used GPL code in Windows, it will be sued and the damage would be worth billions of dollars.
