Well, when has Op India ever spoken anything related to the truth or reality on ground? They were formed for the sake of propagating lies for their masters and creating social polarization, through which their party and its leaders can claim their typical “They vs Us” narrative and win elections. They peddle half-truths And remember this quote about half truths:Well, specific to this question, well its indeed half-truth solely meant to mislead and create a communal narrative.What's the half-truth in it? The half-truth is that Kerala indeed has a reservation category called Scheduled Caste Converts to Christianity (SCCC) and also a special body called Kerala State Development Corporation for Christian Converts from Scheduled Castes and Recommended Minorities - KSDC-CC&RC which is a govt company to provide social and financial assistance to members of this community.Nothing of this is hidden from the public and infact it has existed for a very long time, to be specific since 1957 (formation of Kerala state), and has operated legally. So what’s wrong now?The half-truth is spread as if it's some sort of special promotion done by the Kerala government to sponsor conversions from Hinduism to Christianity. The news portal projects it as something exclusively done by the Kerala govt.But the complete picture is that it's something seen at the pan India level, not just in Kerala. This law exists for Central Govt service and a bunch of states like Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra etc at varying degrees. In all these states, the govt allows reservations to SCCC communities. States like Maharashtra, Goa etc have more categories of Christian Convert reservations from other Hindu communities apart from SCCC. And states like Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, MP were ruled by BJP for a very long time and they never thought to remove it. If Narendra Modi allowed the same in Gujarat throughout his chief ministerial regime in that state, what's wrong with Kerala? If Central Govt can uproot Art 370 overnight, is it that difficult to remove this reservation from the central service OBC list? But Govt of India never thought of it.So why pin-pointing Kerala alone? It's where the political game plans come into play. It's just meant to create a feeling among Kerala Hindus that the govt is helping conversion and create polarization; not for any other purpose.In Kerala, the issue of Dalit Christian is more serious than other states. This is because Kerala had a Native Christian community long before it was introduced by Europeans into India. Christianity came to Kerala in 52 AD and Christianity grew rapidly in Kerala attracting mostly upper castes into its belief system. This means, most of the original Christians of Kerala, even after becoming Christians, retained all tradition Hindu concepts of casteism, pollution, superiority etc. And in Kerala’s caste order, Christians are ranked as higher castes equal to Nairs etc and have all social privilege meant for Hindu upper castes. So Nasrani community always looked Dalits and other lower castes as untouchables and maintained the same casteist concepts like pollution etc. They never allowed any lower castes to embrace Christian faith as they saw it as an insult to their community and social status.So it was European Evangelists who started converting lower castes into Christianity, especially after failing to bring upper-caste native Christians of Kerala into their European customs fold, ie Catholicism or Protestantism.So even after converting to new rites, these Christian converts still are seen as lower castes by Nasrani communities and never accepted them. They saw them as inferior and their churches never allowed them into their community, so these so-called Dalit Christians continued in their own churches and continued to suffer the same set of disadvantages they had while in Hindu faithI explained this in detail in another post of mine. As part of this, Govt set up a company to support them thro’ social and financial assistance like Agricultural loans, small scale business loans etc. In the 1980s, it wasn’t possible to set up a commission/authority to do so as govt cannot support OBCs then. That concept came only after the 1992 Supreme Court verdict on the same.The job of KSDC-CC&RC is much like a refinancer. They take loans from banks and other financial agencies and provide micro/short-term loans to SCCC communities as they are financially too weak to secure direct loans from banks then. The company also provides training programs, consultancy services, recruitment drives and other programs specifically meant to uplift these communities.Its thro’ this same concept, another corporate was formed by Kerala Govt- The Kerala State Welfare Corporation for Forward Communities which is too registered under Companies Act.HomeThe purpose of KSWCF is financially and socially support financially weaker Hindu upper caste communities like Nairs, Nampoothiris (Brahmins), Ambalavasis, Kshatriyas etc with the same set of activities what KSDC-CC&RC does.So is it wrong? Why should Kerala state support upper-caste Hindu communities? Definitely required for ensuring better social justice.The same job is done by Kerala State Backward Communities Commission- KSBCC which is not a company, but authority as there was a constitutional right for state to form authorities or special commission to support backward communities, not forward communities in Hinduism or other communities like SCCC etc then.Furthermore, as companies, they can get better loans and other financial products from banks, than societies.Its for this reason, both KSDC-CC&RC and KSWCF are formed as companies, not authorities/societies.So essentially there is no wrong in the reservation for SCCC asIt's part of a nationwide practise, not specific to Kerala and included in Central Govt list too.There is a real need for such reservations as they too suffer all social discriminations and issues as any SC would face naturally.The matter will be discussed by the Supreme court and let’s wait for it.And the company is formed as part of Kerala’s policy of social justice which exists for many other communities including upper-caste Hindus. Its not meant to encourage any community or patronize any activity, rather a matter of pure social justice.By singling out Kerala and launching a Half-truth based propaganda, the intention of OpIndia and its team is to create communal polarization in Kerala as they know there is no other way for BJP to grow in the state especially with the kind of leadership they have in Kerala… But unfortunately, that lentils won’t boil here… Try back in UP itself..
