However, these are expenses we cannot avoid and they tend to balloon which will be disastrous for your financial plans.2. Start saving. Saving before spending should be the mantra. You should never save whatever is left after spending. Do the reverse. Spend whatever is left after saving.3. Start investing your savings. The earlier you start, the higher is the probability of creating wealth.4. Keep an emergency fund with atleast 6 months of expenses.5. Invest according to your financial goals. The goals could be children’s education, retirement, etc.6. Do not get trapped in the web of debt until absolutely necessary.7. Keep and use credit cards only for emergencies. This will restrict your spending habits.

A painful memory among many during a terrible time.My wife had metastatic breast cancer. I was in the OR in the middle of a long case during what promised to be a long day. My wife was home alone, suffering terribly with the pain of bone metastases. She called me on my cell phone. While trying not to disrupt the surgery, I quietly took the call. “I can't get up off the sofa.”My wife had been experiencing some leg weakness. But this was an unexpected sudden deterioration. I asked if she was otherwise okay. Yes. But she had to go to the bathroom. So this is not a medical emergency. But there is my wife in terrible discomfort. And I cannot budge to help her. I strained to think of what I could do.Not a medical emergency, I cannot call an ambulance. I could not think of anyone to call who might be available and close enough. She needs a wheelchair. I called a medical supply place that might deliver a wheelchair. And hopefully maybe help her into it. They said yes. But they needed a credit card number. My wallet was in my locker.Suddenly from across the room one of the surgical techs comes over with his hand extended, holding out his credit card. I guess I wasn't speaking as quietly as I had thought.I have to confess that I do not recall exactly how that situation unfolded. Shortly thereafter we had hospice and visiting nurses at home.

My fatherMy father is 81 years old and a cancer survivor. He lost his voice to cancer. He now has a stoma in neck for breathing, now the challenge is to keep this stoma open.This is the breathing stoma in neck.His Surgeon adviced for a larybutton to be kept in his breathing stoma.Earlier his Surgeon adviced for tracheostomy tubeThis is tracheostomy tube which goes inside trachea. Now his trachea has ulcers because of radiation.This is larybutton. The difference between the two is latter has short length so ulcers inside trachea are not touched.Now because of this demonetization I could not buy it from Mumbai ( I live in Delhi) for a few days.The doctore prescribed it on 8th, on 9th banks were closed. My bank Yes Banks online IMPS service was not working. On 10th banks had huge rush and the IMPS was not going through again. The Relationship manager refused any help and Branch head did not talk.The other branch of Yes Bank made an NEFT on 11th and on 12th I got the required medical device.Points to be notedA credit card can not make this kind of payment ( directly to a bank account).Cash can not be deposited in vendors account without his written authorization (because of demonetization)My bank’s IMPS not working.NEFT through internet can’t be done before 24 hours of the creation of benefitiary in my profile.The home branch was totally non co-operative. They could have made an NEFT.The other branch of Yes Bank made this NEFT.I could not sleep for 3 days and kept of thinking of countless people having medical emergencies.Paid media won’t show reports of people getting harassed.
