W3C schools sample codes are running in a sandbox environment so you will see code repeated because each example is meant to be able to stand alone.If you are working locally on your computer, once you have your database created, you won't need to include that code in any interactions with that database.

The first college I attended had a DECsystem-20, which to this day remains one of my favorite machines.I loved that computer very much, so much that I spent all my time on it. I was one of the very few students who had his own computer (a TRS-80 Model 4P) and a dial-up modem. I could connect from my dorm room. In fact, I wrote a program, TERTEL/CMD, that emulated a Televideo 920 just for the purpose.So there I was one night, logged on from my dorm room. I connected my account to the test account and saw someone taking one of the sample tests. I watched him for a while. He kept getting the answers wrong…so I started answering the questions for him.He typed “Who is this? Where are you?” I typed “Sitting right behind you.” He logged off.I found out the next day there was an altercation in one of the terminal rooms—apparently a student stood up and started a fight with another student who was sitting behind him.

I did, being 17.I was struggling to learn X86 assembly and I set the bar quite high: write a virus that will spread as far as possible, to have its description included in the popular anti-virus software. These were years without good internet access. That meant I had to find the knowledge in books and spread the final product on floppy disks, so the task wasn’t easy.Guess what?I infected my high school lab. The computers there ran DOS + Windows 3.11 and were connected by NetWare with shared disks, so the virus spread across both labs like wildfire. Then, of course, students carried it away home on floppy disks.The software itself wasn’t malicious in any way, but included an Easter egg. Every X infections it locked up the computer displaying a message which included the name of our school. Also, it somehow conflicted with Windows 3.11, causing it to hang very often. Poor teachers couldn’t continue with the program (which included mostly mundane tasks like text formatting in Word, because they were totally incompetent).Of course the teachers knew already I was into coding, so at the first sign of problems I took samples of infected files back home and promised to have a look at them.Fortunately, DOOM 2 worked like a charm in the presence of the virus, and we spent a couple of weeks gaming through all CS classes. My friends were grateful!Finally, I brought my own anti-virus utility. (Didn’t even think about testing the virus on my own computer without having a vaccine ready; it’s like unit tests in modern software development.) And I cleaned up both school labs, making poor teachers happy as kids.Guess what? I received excellent final grade instantly and was free to skip CS classes until the end of my education there.About 2 months later I received a fresh version of a local anti-virus software. It could detect and remove my virus, and it included a description. Mission accomplished!
