And burmese pythons are extremely potent hunters.This matters because local animals don’t recognize them and/or are not equipped to escape or defend against them. Burmese pythons, which get up to 20 feet in length, have been tearing into the local animal populations.Scientists released a group of chipped rabbits into the marsh, and 77% of them had been eaten by the Burmese pythons. We will never be able to get rid of them completely.They are powerful, highly evolved species that are too good to be competing in these everglades—they risk causing the extinction of multiple, endangered animals.Also, Burmese Pythons teeth are scary AF:Don’t go swimming in the everglades, or any swamp in Florida.
