Order that this policy can only be adjusted or adapted with the support of leading scientific consensus.Re-institute the White House office of Ethics, with its appropriate resources and staff. If there is any actual justice in the wild claims about border insecurity, DHS must make sure the Border Patrol have the needed resources to step up their patrols.Likewise order assignment of, and funding for, more immigration judges to hear asylum claims with all possible speed, including proper legal representation for claimants, especially unaccompanied minors. Order the Justice Dept to begin immediate judicial review of any immigration judge reported to have been treating applicant minors as being legally adults for the purposes of their hearings (hint: if the child’s feet can’t reach the floor while they’re sitting in court, they can’t make informed decisions for themselves.)Order DHS to ban immediately any further “legalised” abduction of children, especially underaged, from their parents at the border.Ideally I would prohibit this outrage by federal law, but with only 24 hours I couldn’t possibly get Congress moving on this.Same for apologising to Canada and Mexico for how they’ve been treated and promising that sanity was going to return.Assuming there’s such a post as the Inspector General of DHS, order an immediate investigation into whether DHS personnel violated laws by removing those children.Order the creation of a commission to search one end of the US to the other if need be, to find all the remaining children who were stripped of their parents. The ending of psychological brutality to children must be a top priority: this kind of monstrosity can never be allowed in the US! (at least, allowed again).Order that the Congress is to be treated as an equal branch of the government, a peer to the Executive, in accordance with the Constitution; and that whether it’s distasteful or not, Congressional investigations must be respected and receive all possible cooperation.Blanket orders to all Executive branch personnel that all Congressional subpoenas must by law be obeyed, and therefore will be.Even apart from subpoenas, Exec branch personnel testifying before Congress must make every effort to be helpful and truthful, as has typically always been the case with past presidencies. No more of this crap with witnesses stating “I reclaim my time” or obfuscating or trying to tell a representative to “move on”.Order that all lawsuits and appeals filed by the Executive to attempt to defy this be dropped or conceded immediately.It’s really not so hard, every previous presidency in living memory has done it (even Nixon, after the Saturday Night Massacre failed in its ultimate purpose).Order the resumption of the regular intelligence briefings that the House Intelligence Committee needs to do its duty to the people of the US.Fire Stephen Miller. No replacement needed, that position shouldn’t be there anyway.
