It's not like Tom Hanks or Denzel Washington, but I went to middle school and played Little League with David Conrad, who played Jennifer Love Hewitt's husband in The Ghost Whisperer.This was in the Pittsburgh suburb of Edgewood -- school was Edgewood (K-12) at the time, which has since been glommed into the Woodland Hills School District. Nice guy from what I can recall, but can't say I know him that well since he was/is a few years older than me, and at that age, one didn't associate more than a year or two outside your grade.(P.S. - Answer #1000!)

Honestly that is very complicated question for any city.There are statistics you can find for climate including temperature ranges and rainfall.Traffic is bad, but not the worst in the country.There is good urban development in Atlanta proper, but metro Atlanta is huge and the metro often times does not want want the city wants.There is public transport, but the roads are not built for efficient buses. The suburbs are also designed in a way that outlying counties can have populations 1 million strong, but lack high population density in any one location- causing expansion of MARTA rail to be difficult.In my experience people are externally very kind and friendly, but can be totally fake and actually dislike you.The city proper is very LGBT and friendly with race relations, but in the metro LGBT is not actively supported and communities are split by race.There is a lot of good food. Buford highway and Duluth have amazing mexican, korean, and vietnamese food.There are places to hike, there are a TON of trees, lots of parks, and it is very outdoor friendly. It can get colder than seattle but average temperature is much higher. Summers are very hot and humid. Often called the “city of trees” (never actually heard someone say that though). Popular saying is “HEAT, HILLS, and HUMIDITY!”Its a blue city in a red state.You will need a car 100% to get anywhere efficiently. A 1 hour work commute by car is an hour and a half to three hours by public transport depending on where you are going.There are great universities. We have Kennesaw University, The Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, and Georgia State University.Public school is bad in Atlanta. The schools have many minorities who come from families in need and the schools do not get the funding or support they require to be successful. Most parents will raise children in the suburbs if they choose public school because they are significantly better than in the city.Downtown is dead after work hours end except on weekend nights in select locations. The bars are in Midtown, Edgewood St downtown, Edgewood neighborhood area 15 minutes out, and in Buckhead 15 minutes north (some consider this Atlanta still).Overall it’s a nice city of transplants. It is pretty average for a mid-sized city. I would move here for job, family, or climate. It is not geographically pretty and the size is nothing compared to LA or New York.There is a strong black community here in Atlanta. There is a large hip-hop and rap scene but also a growing art scene. GSU produces more college educated African Americans than any other college in the nation. We also have historical black colleges like Morehouse and Spellman.I think Atlanta is pretty nice. I have lived in metro Atlanta since I was four, and have been in the proper city of Atlanta while attending GSU and Georgia Tech.
