My guess is you are talking about the curricula required by majors; however, it could be you are really talking about researchers.The curriculum of a major is very dynamic over the years because the driving force for course content is research. Research results filter down from seminars and independent study to undergraduate courses. For example, in the 1970s, data structures (a way to organized data in a computer) was a computer science research topic, and today it is in the introduction to computer science course taken by freshmen and high school students. Moreover, some topics become less important and fade away.Professional societies where research results are reported also have curricula that are guidelines that the department curriculum committee uses, for computer science this would be Curricula Recommendations.
