How many charity entities has Meghan Markle founded?
Meghan has founded no charities that met the UK standard. This is a very easy check to perform in the UK with the records being public and online. Same as company directors.Currently the Prince and Meghan have been referred to the charity commission for the misuse of charitable donations.I have written many times for over a year on this, the structure of what the couple have wanted to do fall foul of UK charity regulations. The whole business plan of the couple does not lead itself to anything other than for profit vehicles and non-profits.The couple do not do charity - they never had. Their own website Sussex Royal outlines what it is they do;It has changed from not doing a charity or foundation (as I constantly point out is illegal in the UK, as it has limits on what they could earn) to the more recent;“Family with permission to earn their own income and the ability to pursue their own private charitable interests.”The key phrase that they are now using is “charitable interests.” this is not a legal definition and means absolutely nothing. There are lot’s of comedy bits that highlight this - my favourite is “I have charitable interests especially for porn stars with big …..”, it is well worth a look if you like blue humour. What the couple are doing; (from their Sussex Royal website)As shared in early January on this website, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not plan to start a ‘foundation’, but rather intend to develop a new way to effect change and complement the efforts made by so many excellent foundations globally. The creation of this non-profit entity will be in addition to their cause driven work that they remain deeply committed to. While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation,The couple have also refused requests for the proof of their charitable donations, the fees for Archie’s photo’s etc. So far their is no proof of the couple’s ever donating to charity as they claim. They have also only one acknowledged repayment for Frogmore, when you contact the Palace for confirmation they refer you to the couple’s website and management. So no charities and so far no charitable donations. The Disney work - Meghan was paid and the charity have received nothing. The “charity” work the couple do are shout outs and the odd photo shoot.Don’t be hating the couple for this, it is simply the standard rip off Hollywood standard - what Trump and celebrities constantly do. It was the norm also in the UK twenty years ago until the rules were updated.Kudos that the couple are finally starting to structure properly but are still very poorly advised. Remember you can’t ethically make money from Charity and the couple have moved to LA to be independent and make their own money.
What do you think of retirement?
Hi Perry,I am not really a fan of traditional retirement. I am more a fan of retiring from the day job and working on my own projects and business. Traditional retirements where people don’t work, but just hang out and travel is not ideal in my honest opinion. I have always said that I am afraid of stopping my strong work ethic because my body may think our work here on Earth is done and it is time to go.I believe we need a purpose in life. A reason to be productive. When we are no longer productive, we really don’t have a reason to get up in the morning. Without a purpose, what’s the point? I have heard the average life expectancy after retirement is 3–5 years. I believe people lacking a purpose limits their will to live, thus they pass away shortly after retirement. My plan for retirement is to decrease my work hours each week down to 10–20 hours to work on some projects and services to provide online. I plan to increase my activities in charitable events and spend time with family. I plan to have a good reason to get up every morning and give to others as much as I can. I believe this is a good recipe for a long, healthy, productive retirement.Best of luck with any plans you have.Chaz5and2Guy.com
Are financial lessons from Thirukkural relevant today?
The following Kurals are very relevant to people of this day and age. There are so many that it is hard for me to put here.(1) Kundru Eri Yaanai Por Kandrattral Than Kaithondru Undaaha Seyvan Vinai. (758)Kundru : Hillock, Hill, MoundEri : act of climbing, sitting at the topYaanai : Elephants.Por: Fight, warKandattraal: seeing, Like seeingThan : Ones ownKaithondru: having in the hand.Undaaha : having, possessingSevaan : the one who is doingVinai: act, buisness.“If one does a business with ones own capital without borrowing money, he/she will be having a clear focus; things will be very clear to him in the same manner in which a guy who is sitting on top of a mound / hillock and watching the elephant battalions fighting”.Anyone who does business must read this kural and understand the meaning. If you stay at ground level and watch the elephant battalions clashing, you would not see much because there will be a lot of dust and also, the action will be at the top! You would not know what is happening in a clear fashion! But if you climb up to a higher elevation, visibility is far better. If you borrow money (excessively), you would always be pressed by the lenders and undergo financial stress (and mental stress). You would have less chances of success. When we run a business, the debt to equity ratio should be as low as possible. The entire wall street focuses on this ratio all the time.(2) Aakkam Karudhi Mudhal Izhakkum Sey Vinai Ookkaar Arivu Udayaar. (463).Aaakkam : The profit.Karudhi: Thinking about, being thoughtful about.Mudhal: First one, Capital, Equity.Izhakkum: act of losing, losingSey Vinai : doing business, “conductance”, entrepreneurial actOokkaar : not to be encouraged, not encouraged by peopleArivu : knowledge, intelligenceUdayaar: those who possess (of knowledge)“If you place a great emphasis on the profit and fail to see the risks to your capital, it is not good. Such ways of doing business is not encouraged by knowledgeable people”.When we do business, we have to be very mindful of many risks and the poet is warning us all.(3) The entire chapter 47 is to be read by those who are serious about business,You have to think a lot about the processes as to how profit gets generated and always calculate how losses can creep in (461).Keep knowledgeable partners (462).Be mindful of dangers to your capital (as I put above)(463).Be very clear before you start your business; in other words, do feasibility study, If you are not clear, simply back of. (464)Do not attack others without plans (465).You can lose if you do not do the right things! And also, you would lose if you do the wrong things (466).You think ahead and then enter into the business. Do not think that you can make ideas on the fly (467).An erroneous or unethical or infeasible business, however hard you try and however many consultants (advisors) you engage, it would be a failure (468).When you complement employees, you complement after considering the true qualities. Do not give bonuses, appreciations etc just like that. (469).Keep the stresses on your businesses within limits. This is similar to loading a vehicle with so much feathers (even if an individual feather is light) that the axle breaks down!(4) The poet always urges people to be “just” when doing business. Anything which is unjust, will not last long. Chapter 70 extols this very much. Kural always emphasizes that “Porul” (wealth) is very important and the way it is made is also important and also extols the idea of how to dispose of the wealth in charitable ways. These are all important to all modern businesses. All evil empires and businesses will be short lived. Most ethical modern day businesses recognize these in their own ways. This was always in our culture. In Manimekalai, in one place the girl cries out loud saying “Vattiyil Midhappa Koori Nam Porul Padumo Enna” (not sure about the exact words) and emphasizes that hers (and her husband’s) wealth was not accumulated by charging excessive interest rates.
