Any tradition, if you want to run it good, needed a deep and long-time study, including Qigong.We all know that at 1990s, China was a very poor country, and it was just the beginning of Chinese economic reform. The economic grew very fast, but the requirement grew faster. People desired a quick solution for their living problems, such as health and wealth. That was a huge business ‘opportunity’. So there were loud of ‘masters’ with their supernatural abilities and methodologies turned out from you-do-not-know-where. Li Hongzhi, his Falun Gong and Falun Dafa was one of those. Many of those, in a very similar way, by the name of Qigong or some traditional religion such as Taoism and Buddhism. By the name of liberation, Chinese tradition and freedom of religion, they ran very well. The political correctness became their shell.When a thing that comes to one under political correctness, with familiar traditional culture skin, by close people one near by and for the needs one urgently desires, it’ll be very easy to get through one’s self-defense and gain trust. Especially between Chinese, such people with strong human relationship (guanxi, 关系) culture.I think people nowadays might easier to understand that when seeing how extremism spread under the cover of religion. So it just spread like cancer in China.But the situation was changed, when the government banned it. That’s what I’m going to talk about in the second part..Part II - After FLG left ChinaThe second part started from when the FLG and other evil cults was banned.I don’t want to call them cult, I prefer fraudsters. But religion and supernatural believing spread much faster than many other things else. The reason that the government decided to ban it was, as some other answers have mentioned, it had been out of control and caused huge damages.The cults even infiltrated into the government and the party. So in the end of 90s, Chinese government decided to stop the flow, and published “中华人民共和国公安部关于认定和取缔邪教组织若干问题的通知”, Ministry of Public Security of People's Republic of China on Several Issues of Identifying And Banning Heretic Cult Organizations Notified, at 2000.If the story ends here, it won’t be the story.Falun Gong was a special one, a ‘lucky’ one of all those cults.FLG was one of the biggest cult of all those, and what made it special was, the leader Li Hongzhi escaped to US and was successfully granted the identity by political asylum. At the same time, FLG became the ‘victims of human rights issues’. This is the exact start of the second part of the story.I’m not defending the human right problems of China, I’m just saying that FLG uses, amplificates and distorts this to make their own benefit.The background of that time was that China was under a big pressure and condemn for her human right problems, for both the real human right problems and the ideology struggles. Especially after Tiananmen Square Protest I mentioned above and the dissolution of the Soviet Union but China was still ran by Communism (even though actually only by the name of).In those places which don’t ban FLG, they could easily survive and keep growing. And because of they were banned by ‘religion’ reason BY CHINA, they could easily successfully get the identity by asylum. The political correctness became their shell, again.The survival from the abandon made FLG very anti-CCP stands and the identity of ‘victims of human right problems’ brought them green cards and money. So FLG suddenly changed to the fighters of anti-Chinese government. And they’re extremely good on it. They grows even much larger and richer than when they were in China.People think the propaganda is quite good of Chinese government, but I think FLG’s is much better in a world wide. FLG is the text book of a cult on it. They are the most proactive one of anti-Chinese government and almost become the representation of it.They own many publications and medias such as the biggest like Epoch Times, New Tang Dynasty Television, Youtube channels like China Uncensored and also Shen Yun Performing Arts the art company;They are the biggest free VPN provider for GFW to help people cross. And by the GFW which lock their biggest and only enemy the Chinese government in China, they occupies most of the information areas of China’s information, such as Google results and Wikipedia;They have a big advertise network, almost all Chinese have received their rubbish ads from SMS, e-mail, papers, etc.They are the most extensive and persistent anti-China group all over the world, you can see them and their propaganda everywhere. Or Chinese tourist can see them in any country.By the information gap between China and the world, they make a huge benefit on it. Anti-China groups sponsor them; People donate ‘through’ them to improve the China’s human right situation; People inside the GFW see their propaganda before visiting outside; For they are the ‘victim’, people help the extension of their cult; Their companies make good money; Members easy to gain ID by asylum.But the problem is, most of the oppression and the persecution their said that Chinese government do to them are forged and false. They try their best to become the victim of any human right problem of China. The close political limitations and the discrimination Chinese government facing buy FLG a wide space to decorate the truth of their version.For example, the organ harvesting problem shows how they work.Executed prisoners was the biggest source of organ donation.
