Has a medical professional ever refused to treat you? What reason did they give?

Not me, but my four-year-old daughter. I was a single mother of my little girl. I was a nursing student half way through my nursing program. I was still embarrassed (mortified, really), to be utilizing food stamps, Medicaid, AFDC (child support from the state of Florida), but it was a necessity to get through three and a half years of nursing school. I also worked on weekends with private duty for a diabetic patient with mild dementia.I had had the best of care growing up. I had always worked and had “private insurance “ through my jobs. That all went by the wayside after I became a single mom who gained the courage to better my life for my daughter’s sake, by becoming an RN. I worked so hard to get accepted to nursing school the first time! I was already 35 years old with no time to waste!!My daughter had been jumping on the couch. Just as I was coming to grab my fun-loving little girl, it happened. She stepped off the couch and her little chin slammed hard on the oak coffee table! Screams and blood! I put ice in a towel, wet it, and intermittently held it onto and off her chin as much as she could tolerate! I also called 911. I sat on a chair on my tiny front porch as I watched the first responders climb onto their truck just two doors down. Truly, by the time they got off their truck, I had stopped the bleeding! They were wonderful. They gave KS a little bear, and she was actually smiling. We left for the ER because stitches were needed. This is where the nightmare began. I had done just fine on Florida Medicaid. Unfortunately, I had been basically swindled into accepting an HMO in the early ’90s when it seems they answered to NO ONE! I did not know this as yet, but I soon learned! We arrived at the ER about 5:30 p.m. Not a lot of people were there, but we were NOT called back!! Time and time again others were called back and we were not!! I raised this fact multiple times!! No one would give me plausible explanations! I was raising hell and getting no lwhere! I was FINALLY told that no one could get in touch with the HMO to get stitches APPROVED!! This was about 10 p.m.! At about midnight, almost eight hours after we had arrived, one of the clerks told me the truth of what was going on!!ONE doctor had the say of ALL the approvals! He happened to be busy at a gala in South Florida and had instructed the call center not to “disturb” him until it was over! I became absolutely enraged!! I DEMANDED the phone number and she gave it to me and begged me not to say who had given it to me! I promised I would not! I called the service. I made them keep me on hold and of course I was calling from the desk telephone at the hospital ER. When they told me they couldn’t disturb the doctor, I went mental on them!! My daughter only had a small time frame left in which stitches could still be given! I described the blood, the gaping wound on her little chin and the fact that I would never give up until I sued them all for negligence!! They patched the doctor through. I stayed controlled as I explained the situation, but I finished with, “If my daughter is not stitched up within 20 minutes, this will be broadcast far and wide, I will report your neglect to everyone and anyone I can!! I will drag you through the mud as only a pissed-off mother can!! Now hold on, DOCTOR, while I hand you over to someone who can take your APPROVAL!!” My little girl’s chin was finally stitched, and we were able to leave the hospital TEN hours after we had arrived. This was a terrible situation, but I must admit it helped me to become a true advocate for my future patients. God works His ways.

When a person has Medicaid from Florida, can they use it for diagnostic testing in Pennsylvania?

Can one use Florida Medicaid for diagnostic tests in Pennsylvania?Medicaid are state run with different rules. It is unlikely that Florida Medicaid[1][2] will work in Pennsylvania[3] [4] . If it is CHIPS[5] , it might be. But, you need to call the healthcare provider and see if they accept FL Medicaid it. For example, I live in Southeast Illinois but the major health facilities are in St. Louis, Missouri. Most accept Illinois Medicaid. I would think there has to be closer alternative within the state of Florida.Curious as to why you are going to Pennsylvania with the large cities in Florida including the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.However, many Medicaid recipients don't realize that their health insurance coverage may not provide a full set of benefits should they require care while out of state. For example, some states only cover out-of -state emergency room visits to stabilize emergencyconditions.Nov 3, 2015SpecialNeedsAnswers › a-...A Warning for Medicaid Beneficiaries Traveling Out of.This is not your Medicaid number, but this [telephone] number will allow your provider to check your eligibility before providing services. ... Can a nursing home take all of your money?

If you are in a nursing home that Medicaid is paying most of you do have to meet income requirements. Your pensions and S.S.
