PDF Editor FAQ

If you ever had to deal with an elementary school teacher who was teaching your child objectively incorrect facts or information, how would you handle it?

Textbook BattlesWhen my daughters were in fourth and fifth grade I remember having numerous issues with the history and science books they were using. The school district had purchased newer books, so these were not reliques. The problem was that the material inside was not only poorly written but inaccurate. I made it a practice to read all of my girls' school books all through school. That is if I could get a copy, which became a little more complicated when I moved across the country.I would start by writing the error from the book with the page number. I would separate this data into chapters/units. Once I collected all that data then, I would give the teacher a list of the problems with the text and inform him: my children will know the correct information. I would then ask them: if they would be ready to teach the correct material? I always got “Yes” or “Of course” for an answer then the teachers would be ready for a lesson or two then, they would slack off. Then taking my copy of the errors I would type the correct answers underneath each problem: also, I would take the time to cite multiple sources for reference. My girls would be taught the information in discussions at dinner or on the phone in fun creative manners. Their father and I shared custody so homework was some times done over the phone with mom if dad was working late. This was an additional opportunity to sprinkle in some correct information. My daughters were sponges for knowledge and by me citing sources in conversation they knew mama was using correct data.In the classroom, when the girls were presented with the wrong information, my girls would call the wrong material to attention. As you can imagine this is pretty embarrassing to the teacher. Why didn’t I just give the teacher the right material? Then the teacher would have pushed it off more than likely and still not taught the correct material. I am a firm believer in knowing your subject matter. As a teacher myself, I read and evaluate everything for accuracy before I use it in the classroom. If something new happens of importance, I want to keep my students appraised of that information. It is our job to be educators, not pushers of falsehoods because we are lazy. I care about my students' and children’s minds, enough to want them only filled with the best information.

Which exam is easier to score more in, the NEST or the IISER?

Well, from personal experiences I’d say IISER’s SCB exam is more easy and more prominent to score and succeed at.Seats ratio : Number of seats in NISER+CBS (for NEST) is about 170+45 (including reservation) and suppose 25,000 students give the examination . approximately 1 of 120 students get into it. And nearly all the brilliant minds who qualify and sit for JEE Advanced give this examination.Whereas in IISER SCB Aptitude test all the 7 IISERs combined have 1125 seats (approximate 210 in IISERPune , 200 in IISERKol and something like that.. )with about a 25,000 applications 1 in 25 get in.Question paper pattern : NEST exams have 75 questions with 15 X 4 = 60 from each sections -Physics,Chemistry,Maths and Biology( any three sections optional ) and a 15 question compulsory general section .(15 X 4) + 15 = 75 total questions where you have to attempt on 60 in 3 hours. Each section has 50 marks.Marking:10 - single option correct( +4 /-1 ) & 5 -More than one option correct (no negative marking )Personally : During my BITS examination, I overheard people scoring 120+ and still not getting in. (total marks:200 )IISER SCB paper has 60 questions with 15 X 4 = 60 from each sections -Physics,Chemistry,Maths and Biology. All are single option correct type questions .Logic is to attempt as many as correct possible with no compulsory section or optional.Generally more than 30 ( correct answers ) get selected for counselling and admission.Personally : I had attempted 55 questions. Got selected for IISERP in 1st round of counselling. They collect the question paper after exams with the bubbled sheets too. Can’t say how many wrongs. Now its for you to decide . Based on your preparation levels. But personally if you’re a JEE advanced candidate. This maybe a good chance . SAME syllabus.Biology students appraising for medical , this can your best opportunities for research studies and probably the best institutes to impart Science Education.Appear for both with a little biology NCERT brush up. Will help. .

What theories should be used for teacher attitude towards student appraisal of courses in the literature review?

Attitudes is the realm of psychology and social Sciences in general, try also theories of educational psychology or theories from some of these combinations. Appraisal is the realm of measurement so you’ll have to look at that as well.
