PDF Editor FAQ
As someone who overcame narcissistic abuse, what do you wish more people understood about narcissistic abuse?
I have overcome 47 years of NPD abuse after being married to my husband. My biggest hurdle was trying to get others to understand the devastation I was going through. I would share it and I was shunned, ignored, and laughed at. No family member or friends could understand what I was saying because in their observation my husband was loving, caring, supportive husband and I should be lucky to have married someone so special. I suffered in silence for years! I became super depressed with Complex PTSD which is severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Trauma-Bonded, Severe Depression, plus I had numerous illnesses due to the stress that I encountered daily. What do I wish more people would understand about NPD abuse is that it is excruciatingly tragic with the insidious damage a NPD does to a person and children and the destruction goes all the way down to your soul. I believe education needs to be taught to parents regarding the damaging effects of their parenting style can be to their young child. No child should ever go through the traumatic events as a young child between the ages of 2–7 years when they are developing their personality which can in turn develop into NPD. It is a learned behavior! There needs to be classes in high school and college so that young men and women are not “love-bombed” into a NPD relationship where they are tangled into a NPD’s convoluted web of lies, abuse and deceit!LACK OF EDUCATION First of all when I married in 1971 there was no information on this type of mental disorder. I searched high and low. I saw over 15 Marriage Therapists and they told me I needed to be a better wife??!?! What??!?!?!! I never felt so alone and isolated in this world than living with a NPD.EDUCATION IS CRUCIAL. Teach the public the warning signs of the NPD’s manipulation techniques that come with the NPD. Education is the main defensive ingredient in dealing with NPD. So if a friend comes to you telling the telltale signs of NPD abuse then validate their experience. Get them the help they need so they can escape from their oppressors.NPD DAMAGE IS SEVERE. They are cruel, blame everything on you, lack any emotional empathy whatsoever, literally do not love you because they are incapable of loving anyone other than themselves, criticize you, lie without a conscience and put you down to make themselves feel POWERFUL, SUPERIORITY, CONTROL and ADMIRATION which traits they are addicted to in their life. The damage is insidious and I get letters from all over the world of the traumatic damage they cause not only to their spouses but to their children.WAKE UP THE WORLD. I want to wake up the world to the extensive damage that is going on to men, women and children and to their core being. The public needs to be informed to support and help these victims to get out and become NPD Survivors!THANK YOU TO QUORA. Thank you to Quora for bringing this hideously hidden problem to the surface and open to the public where this issue can be talked about and addressed so healing can begin for so many people. Their abuse has got to stop now!!!
As an Ivy League admissions officer, what qualities do you look for in a college application?
Ms Sylvia Vukos nailed it. Thank you.I only want to add one thing:In 2015, MIT, Harvard and over 80 other top educational institutions in the USA (I believe including all 8 colleges of The Ivy Athletic League) got together and wrote a detailed 2016 report explaining to people like you what they are looking for:Stu Schmill endorses report on consideration of character in college admissionsRead the article, the links and especially the link to the full report. And you will need Glowing Hot letters of recommendation submitted to the colleges that substantiate all of that.Good luck.
