I don't know if you would call this a scandal or a tragedy. Or both.While this didn't necessarily happen at my school. My school was also directly involved in it to a degree.Amanda ToddAmanda Todd was a student in a school in a nearby city.Here is the quick summary on Wikipedia:On October 10, 2012, Amanda Michelle Todd(November 27, 1996 – October 10, 2012), a 15-year-old Canadian girl, committed suicide at her home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. Prior to her death, Todd had posted a video on YouTube in which she used a series of flash cards to tell her experience of being blackmailed into exposing her breasts via webcam, and of being bullied and physically assaulted. The video went viral after her death, resulting in international media attention. The video has had more than 12 million views as of February 2017. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and British Columbia Coroners Service launched investigations into the suicide.So how is my school involved in this?While most of the bullying happened mostly online. Therefore being from people outside of the area, and even the country in general. Some happened in the schools she went to as well. The incident made her an outcast basically. As a result she had been transferring schools a few times throughout the incident.My school being the last stop.If she had not killed herself, she would have transfered, and hopefully graduated from my highschool.This incident caused a massive reaction in Canada. There was basically a massive crackdown on bullying all together. My school being involved in the incident took it really seriously. Just mentioning her name can silence a room sometimes.That is the biggest “scandal” at my highschool. I'm glad my school and the whole country decided to become a better place in response.

Here's how her timeline ended up in life;June 1999 - This was the first time I ever saw her. She walked past me in the cafeteria. I could not help but stare. Her beauty was unmatched. I didn't have the nerve to talk to her so unfortunately, I didn't see her again for a long time.1.5 years later…I transfer high schools and start attending hers where we're put in the same class. She’s even more beautiful the more and more I see her but that also means I’m more and more nervous to talk to her. So I don’t, and we don’t.Six months later…With one month of school remaining until summer holidays, it’s a do or die situation. I finally find the courage to strike up a conversation with her. I write her a note asking for her home phone number (note to the millennial, this is how we used to do it). I watch her scribble something on the paper and hand it back to me. The bell rings to signal the end of class. I calmly pocket the note and walk out. But on the inside, I'm screaming with excitement like a little girl at a Bieber concert.
