PDF Editor FAQ
Is anyone actually going to order the Tesla Cybertruck?
This is similar to my current truck. It's a GMC Sierra 2500. It's old but still pulls heavy and has a decent payload. Since it's old it doesn't cost me much in depreciation but it has a nice and reliable 6L V8 which runs my gas bill to an average of $822 a month. I also spend about a $170 on maintenance every month. Before insurance the truck probably costs me about $1k a month. I need a truck for work so I think it's worth it.I'm gonna pick one of these a Ram Rebel in the next month. I'm going to lease it for 2 years. My lease on this going to cost me around $400 a month. Since I tow daily I'm probably gonna through a few transmissions in the 2 years but I'm under warranty and I will always be towing just under the manufacturer's limit. The new truck is going to be more fuel efficient so my fuel cost is only to be around $450 a month and maintenance is only going to cost me $50. This truck will only cost $900 a month and I get a new truck with lots of new features. Now let's talk about the cyber truck. The drivetrain on this comes with a 8 year warranty.( I really dont care if the little break on the truck since it's a worktruck) it's going to cost me $50k. Over the 8 year life it's going to cost me around $520 a month subtract whatever the truck is worth in 8 years. Only maintenance item the truck needs is tire which is going be around $20 a month. Also the cost of electricity is probably another $80 a month. So this truck is costing me $620 a month and I get to drive around in brand new Tesla. So why wouldn't I want to buy it?
What is the most corrupt thing you've witnessed at your workplace?
In my early 20s I worked for a large leasing & property management company as a maintenance man doing repairs, preventative maintenance and operating the large HVAC equipment, meter reader, testing the generators, etc. We had 7 office buildings including coffee shops, 3 original buildings and 4 just being completed. We had a new shop and we completed the interior as the Chief Engineer wanted. CE (who thought he was such a gift to women and he thought he was perfect) convinced the corporate heads to allow him to buy almost all the equipment from Sears under the Craftsman name including some of the larger tools such as pipe benders & threaders, welding equipment, etc. plus a stock of engine oil for the large diesel generators. What corrupt thing did I see? Equipment disappearing. Hundreds of dollars worth. Engine oil disappearing. Work orders being being run wrong (wrong repairs, security keys being made and issued to the wrong people), building supplies missing during construction costing the contractor’s money. And every time the CE had an excuse, didn’t know any thing about it, blamed or placed suspicion on the others employees such as myself. I even saw shop equipment in the CE’s truck one night. Guess what? The other employee positions was a revolving door yet because the CE had a way of convincing corporate every time, he was still there 10 years later working for the new management company.
What are the applications of field service software?
In my opinion the ideal field service software would encompass the following:1) Easy and intuitive UI - Many of the big field service management software today have clunky and hard-to-use UI with web designs that are from 1995.2) Scheduling and dispatching - The service manager should be able to schedule his service technicians and crews and then dispatch them to jobs from a queue of available work orders for the day.3) Invoicing and billing - The service technician should be able to electronically invoice and bill the customer on the spot with mobile payment technology.4) Fleet management - The service manager should be able to see where all of his trucks are in real-time. There should also be a way to track the maintenance and service history of his vehicles (eg. when was the last oil change or tire rotation done?). Alerts should be sent out if a vehicle is due for maintenance. This helps in reducing the chances of vehicle breakdown and help increase the company's bottomline.5) Asset and inventory management - The ability to track what parts/equipment is on each vehicle as well as in the warehouses.6) Warranty Management - The ability to check if a part is still under warranty. Being able to keep track if warranty claims have been paid out or not etc.7) HCM - The modules above integrated with workforce mangement and payroll could make for a very strong suite of functionality within one application.8) Reporting and Analytics - The ability to run reports and look at metrics on each aspect of your business to help make more informed business decisions. For eg. You have 2 technicians A and B. Let's say technician A only completes 4 work orders on average a day whereas technician B completes 7 work orders on average a day. B is clearly the better employee right? No. What if technician B destroys your trucks with reckless driving and is causing much more in maintenance costs for you? What if the first time fix rate for A is actually much higher than for B? Being able to quantify these metrics is a big selling point in any field service software.Hope that helped!
