What are some good sushi restaurants in the Portland metro area?

SaburoLocated at 1667 SE Bybee Blvd is my go to Sushi restaurant to suggest for people who want to try sushi in the Portland metro area. Be warned though, they have a small seating area and don't take reservations. You'll have to wait for 30 - 90 minutes for a seat depending on how large your party is and when you're visiting.TakahashiLocated at 10324 SE Holgate Blvd Takahashi is a Japanese restaurant with a great selection of food and great quality of sushi. What makes Takahashi so special is the homey feel of the entire establishment. You'll leave feeling like you just had dinner at a friend's house!Koji OsakayaKoji Osakaya is my favorite pick for all around Japanese food in Portland. With multiple locations around Portland (606 SWBroadway, 1502 NE Weidler St., and 7007 SW Macadam Ave.They may not have the best food or sushi in Portland, but all of their food and sushi is on par for second place. What makes Koji Osakaya great is their large menu. They have the largest selection of sushi for any non-dedicated sushi restaurant. In addition, they have so much Japanese food on their menu that you'll want to go back hundreds of times, everything from Teriyaki, Ramen and Curry to Nabemono, Donburi, and Ikasugatayaki (a personal favorite of mine). This is the perfect place to go when you want sushi but whoever you're with doesn't like sushi, but is still willing to try Japanese food.Sushi Takahashi 2Located at 2415 SW 5th Ave, and has no relation at all to "Takahashi" listed above. Just like everyone has a favorite dive bar, Sushi Takahashi is my favorite dive kaiten-zushi (train-style) joint in Portland. For starters, their sushi track is an actual model train. For everything else, they have cheap per-plate sushi and the quality of what you get greatly surpasses how much you pay. The atmosphere is great, and its not uncommon for patrons to write and send each other messages from across the bar by piggy-backing on an empty train car.SyunLocated at 209 NE Lincoln St. in Hillsboro is a little bit out of the way, but has delicious great quality sushi that makes it way worth the trip! Finally, an honorable mention goes to Marinepolis Sushiland, with locations all over Portland (Google them, there are about six). Sushiland is an above average kaiten-zushi aimed more towards American style sushi than Japanese style. A fun fact, Sushiland is actually owned by a Japanese company which runs chains of kaiten-zushis in both the USA and Japan.

What testosterone brand should I be using? Which is the best and so on?

You should have a conversation with your physician. That being said.. I can offer you the following guidelines when it comes to testosterone and modes of delivery, etc.Testosterone Supplementation OptionsThe purpose of this handout is to explain your testosterone supplementation options. Please note that not all men choose or need testosterone supplementation. Also, remember that testosterone supplementation is the 8th step in achieving HormoneSynergy—these steps form the foundation for healthy aging. For a thorough explanation of the steps, please read my book, HormoneSynergy: Optimal Aging & Hormone Balance.Briefly, the steps are listed here: The 8 Steps for Achieving HormoneSynergy:1. Decrease stress2. Eat a healthy diet & keep your blood sugar balanced3. Exercise4. Sleep well & enough5. Avoid toxins and do a yearly detox6. Maintain a healthy weight, including muscle and fat percentages7. Take pharmaceutical-quality supplements: multi-vitamin & mineral, antioxidants including CoQ10, vitamin D, resveratrol, & fish oil 8. Replace lost hormones, including bioidentical testosterone (after weighing your individual risks & benefits)About testosterone supplementation:Humans are a unique species when it comes to the fact that we live much of our lives outside our reproductive years. Most animals in the wild do not live beyond their ability to reproduce— many don't even live beyond puberty. Our increased life expectancy is relatively recent—only men in the past few generations have had a life expectancy beyond 50 years. There is certainly much controversy about whether or not it's appropriate to restore testosterone to youthful levels as men age. Some men use testosterone for symptom management alone; some use testosterone to age optimally or lower the likelihood of developing chronic diseases such as dementia, heart disease, and diabetes. Symptoms of Low or Suboptimal Testosterone DeficiencyThe following symptoms and conditions may be associated with or caused by suboptimal or low testosterone levels: Rapid aging Fatigue or low energy Poor stamina  Low motivation Decreased athletic or work performance  Depression Memory problems Poor focus or concentration Decreased mental clarity Irritability Weight gain, especially around the middle Decreased muscle mass and strength Low libido Erectile dysfunction Reduced intensity of orgasm  Decreased sperm production Low volume of ejaculate Small or shrinking testicles Hot flashes, night sweats Loss of pubic or axillary hair Decreased beard growth Joint pain or stiffness Fibromyalgia Insulin resistance and diabetes Heart disease Congestive heart failure Alzheimer's disease Anemia Osteoporosis or low bone densityTestosterone Supplementation OptionsSeveral testosterone delivery methods exist. Choosing a specific therapy depends on effectiveness, preference of a particular delivery system, side effects and cost. This handout will review pros and cons (seen in clinical trials and from my experience with patients), and approximate costs for different forms of testosterone supplementation. Testosterone options are separated into pharmaceutical medications (FDA-approved drugs, often covered by insurance companies), and compounded medications (individually prepared using FDA-approved testosterone, which may or may not be covered by insurance). Please note that costs are only approximate since pharmacies vary in what they charge.Pharmaceuticals: Injection. Testosterone injections given in a muscle every week or every two weeks have been shown to be safe and effective. Pros include excellent absorptions, inexpensive cost, and possible insurance coverage. Cons include fluctuations in symptom relief (a peak followed by a valley; note that this can usually be alleviated by performing injections weekly or twice per week, rather than 1-2 times per month), conversion to estrogen, and having to give yourself a shot (or see a nurse or doctor). Cost depends on dosage, and whether or not the injection is selfadministered: approximately $20 to $50 per month.Patch. The patch (Androderm® ) contains testosterone in an alcohol matrix, and is applied each night to the back, abdomen, upper arm or thigh. Application site is rotated to maintain seven-day intervals between sites in order to lessen possibility of skin reactions. Pros are that the patch provides steady levels of testosterone for 24-hours and that many insurance companies cover the cost. Cons include probable skin irritation (seen in most men), low effectiveness (levels rarely reach the optimal range) and high cost without insurance coverage. Approximate cost is $240-$500 per month.Gel. Testosterone gel (AndroGel® , Testim® ) is rubbed into the skin of upper arm or shoulder. Topical application of testosterone causes fewer skin reactions than patches. Showering or bathing must be avoided for several hours after application to ensure adequate absorption. Pros include less skin irritation than patches, more steady-state delivery than 1-2 times per month injections, providing testosterone that can reach optimal levels, and possible insurance coverage. Cons include possible transfer of testosterone to partners, other family members, or pets, possible decrease in effectiveness over time, lack of absorption in some men, and high cost without insurance coverage. Approximate cost is $230 to $500 per month.Gum and cheek (buccal cavity). Striant® , a tablet that softens into a gel-like substance, is placed above the top teeth, between the gum and upper lip. The testosterone in Striant is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, which is safer than oral (swallowed) testosterone. Pros include rapid absorption into the blood stream (bypassing the liver), steady delivery state (especially if used twice a day), and possible insurance coverage. Cons include gum irritation, bitter taste, possible swallowing of the tablet, and high cost if out-of-pocket. Approximate cost is $250 per month. Compounded Forms of Testosterone Sublingual troches or lozenges. Troches are made by a compounding pharmacy and are dissolved between the cheek and gum, once or twice a day. Much of the testosterone in a troche is absorbed directly into the bloodstream; therefore, troches may not have the same risks to the liver as oral testosterone. Pros of sublingual troches include relatively rapid peak in testosterone and effectiveness at increasing testosterone levels to the optimal range. Cons include the fact that troches may not provide a steady level of testosterone (requiring twice per day use), increased conversion to estradiol similar to injections (because of the burst of testosterone that is delivered), and bitter taste (although most pharmacies can add flavor to mask the taste). Some of the testosterone in a troche will inevitably be swallowed so this mode of delivery is not recommended for men with liver problems. Cost is approximately $50 to $100 per month.Oral. Oral testosterone supplementation is not recommended due to increased risk for cholesterol problems, blood clots, hepatitis, and liver cancer.Topical gel or cream. Compounded testosterone is applied to the upper arm or shoulder once or twice per day. Pros include significantly lower cost than Androgel or Testim, less skin irritation than patches, and effectiveness for some men. Cons include possible transfer of testosterone to partners, other family members, or pets, poor absorption in some men, and possible decrease in effectiveness over time. Approximate cost is $30 to $100 per month.Pellet implants. Testosterone pellets are implanted in the buttocks (occasionally in the lower abdomen) and last an average of 4-6 months. The procedure requires local anesthesia (an injection of lidocaine) and small (~5mm) incision. Pellets provide a steady delivery of testosterone and have been shown in clinical studies to be very effective at helping with symptoms. Pros include effectiveness, convenience, and no exposure to family members or pets. Cons include having to have a minor surgical procedure, bruising, possible extrusion (rare), and soreness for a few days to one week after insertion. Average monthly cost for testosterone pellets depends on the size and number of pellets used, and frequency of insertion, approximately $40 to $75 (not including cost of insertion).HormoneSynergy Clinic, LLCDr. Kathryn Retzler,4640 SW Macadam Ave., Suite 290Portland, OR 97239503.230.7990Copyright 2019www.hormonesynergy.com

What are some of the best stories, real or fictional, about taking revenge?

DON'T DO THESE THINGS! But this is the story of the burned Ferrari and Porsche. Like this….And this…These are not THE actual cars in the story, But similar, (The way Quora hosts photos made me use stock photos off the net)So, again, PLEASE dont go out and do something like this. You may think its clever, funny, or justified but in my experience, what may seem like a great idea always has unintended or unforeseen consequences. In my own experience not only will something go wrong, it will be 100x worse than you ever imagined! But these stories did happen, they are relatively well known in my area and those who were involved, many still remember them. BTW,, If you DO have any additional info on the Ferrari incident, Id love to know more,….So here is 2 versions of different cases of revenge. Both involved a former employer. I will state for the record it WAS NOT ME!. So in the 1990s I thought it would be a good idea to further my aerospace career with a well known local employer who specialized in Aerospace components. Back in the day it was known as a decent place to work with opportunity to advance. They are now a global and diversified corporation but their core business in the Portland-Clackamas (Aka Clakistan) was aerospace Stainless and titanium investment castings. When I applied they were ramping up production and doing hiring but inexplicably despite my credentials,, It was difficult to land a job there.I learned why later. First off, they didnt care what other skills you brought in, they wanted to train you THEIR way, Secondly the pay was never very good, but at that time it was offset with generous education benefits, Stock shares and decent medical and retirement. (All that went away over time) But they also did a lot of tax deals hiring people with,.”Life challenges” such as convicts and recovering addicts. (This may play a role in some of their other issues)The way this works is, at least with another company I know had a similar deal,,, You pay the hire like $7 or $8 dollars an hour, the state or other program picks up the difference in return for hiring them. This, CAN be a really awesome civically minded program. Getting people back in the workforce, being employed and a honest living! (*Yeah!) But often the employers are simply exploiting an opportunity for cheap labor in my opinion. I wish it was better managed and implemented.BUT! When I started working there, it went a long way of explaining why it took so long to get a job there and I was shocked at some of my coworkers. Some had murdered people and other crimes! I tried to always be nice, I didn't want to end up as a victim!A quick tangent along these lines, that does kind of help set the stage… We had a sandblast operator. Crazy as a loon, I could tell he was nuts. Hard worker but I could tell he was mentally unstable and possibly dangerous. Some of the staff were mean to him, teased him and bullied him. I Chewed people out when I was aware of it, It was just mean, and stupid. Plus,, he was trying,, for Gods sake he was trying to earn an honest living and sure beats him living under a bridge and committing crimes. So after a LOT of abuse, One day at shift change he climbed up on top of the sandblast cabinet (These were walk ins and huge structures)Very similar to this….So, he took a broom and pretended it was a assault rifle or machine gun, and proceeded to pretend to shoot all the staff clocking out, and the incoming swing shift clocking in at the time clock. Making gun noises like full auto gunfire.Worse,, He seemed to REALLY be enjoying it. Some thought it was funny, some alarmed and some just shook their heads.I warned people,, “DONT F**K WITH HIM! I AM WARNING YOU!” So no one listened of course. A few days later, he just plain stopped coming to work. Then the next day someone ran in and yelled,… “I just saw crazy Jim coming out of Maury's Gun rack!” This was a well known gun store up the street on 82nd avenue. The other issue as a convicted felon, He was not allowed to own a gun or be around guns. This was troubling. For days afterwards people were really jumpy and jittery, Always looking over their shoulder and watching the doors. Luckily he never came in and shot up the place, but people were sweating it for a long time. I feel bad for the guy and hope things worked out for him. Workplace bullying is a terrible thing. So, On to the Ferrari and Porsche. So PCC had at that time multiple business units and operations in the area. LSBO, LSBO II, SSBO and Ti Plant as well as a few small spin offs. (LSBO stood for Large Structures Business Operation, SSBO was Small Structures etc etc) Across the street from the Clackamas SSBO plant was the old PCC Corporate building. If you know the area,, I-205 freeway is on the back of the place and now there is a huge COSTCO and shopping center down in the hole there. (The whole area used to be a swamp and tributary of Johnson creek, ALL the buildings are built on pilings into swamp land and unstable, which causes other issues but thats another story) So eventually Corporate apparently got tired of looking at the grubby unwashed masses of their manufacturing staff as well as, I told this in my other story about PCC, they gutted the R& D dept and eventually SOLD the building so its now the State of Oregon crime lab and Medical examiners office. So back in the 1990s we all got laid off repeatedly and the business yo-yo’ed as the aviation markets tend to. It was a tremendous time of upheaval and instability. Many of their best & brightest all left and moved on.So SSBO was often a loss leader and struggled to be profitable. But often contracts with LSBO included tie ins for smaller parts so it was necessary to keep SSBO in operation, BUT……….. SSBO was always the poor red headed step child. Money was always tight, and raises few and far between. When layoffs came, SSBO took the hardest hits. So they brought in this plant manager, They called him “Hatchet man” and I believe his real last name was Hackett,, So Hatchet Man Hackett or something close to that.Layoffs started in earnest. Rumors spread and we heard that top mgrs got bonuses to do “Right sizing” and aggressive cost cutting. Coupled with that, As a publicly traded company, Many of the top executives salaries were known.Resentment built that people living hand to mouth and wondering about their future would tend to be a tad bit upset when they see the top people still raking in the big bucks.Coupled with that, The generous education benefits were whittled down and largely scrapped. We lost our stock options, Medical kept getting cut and people began to joke that the retirement plan was a can of Dog food and a spoon. (The 401k fund also was badly performing and many accts were bleeding money)People were ANGRY! So one day, another round of layoffs had been executed and people were walking out of SSBO with their paperwork, last shift at the plant and now unemployed. At that moment, In what has to be the WORST possible timing. IN coming to the corporate center across the street was a flat bed tow truck with a shiny Ferrari strapped to the bed. It slowly came in the entrance road, and turned into the Corporate centers parking lot and in back of that building. The story went,,, And this is still a very well known story… People were livid! Angry, hostile and much cursing and muttering under their breaths. Collectively much hatred was projected towards that building. Now to be fair.. there COULD have been a very plausible reason for someone to get a Ferrari and totally unrelated to the cost cutting and lay offs. But I think we can agree the optics were very bad!Maybe,, someone took an early retirement and cashed in and bought their dream car? Maybe in sympathy some executive had the car detailed and serviced so he could sell it! Maybe his/her dear Uncle Albert bought it or they inherited it! Maybe,, more plausible, They won the golden ticket in a fruit loops cereal box and got the grand prize! (right???)So, I never heard the back story, But what happened was, someone tracked down the Ferraris owners home address and allegedly the car was torched and totally destroyed. Maybe again, totally unrelated and just an unfortunate coincidence! But the story spread like wildfire and the conclusion was one of those laid off workers took their revenge.** If you know more or have details,, PM me or post in the replies** I never heard if anyone was arrested or they figured out who did it. Its sad that a beautiful car was destroyed for the perceived sins of the owner. Many concluded this also was a very strong motivator for corporate to move their HQ. (Its down near Johns Landing off Macadam if you care to visit…. Precision Castparts Corp.4650 SW MACADAM AVE. SUITE 300PORTLAND, OR 97239PH: 503-946-4800So, on to the Porsche story… A bit different and Ill keep it shorter. So I know a lot of other people in manufacturing in the area. One guy, I am friends with and have known a long time. I will keep it vague for reasons quite clear. But he is smart, successful and runs a great company that has over the years taken on work for PCC, Also known as “Pretty CLOSE Castparts” as things are not as precision as they used to be if the stories are to be believed. So generally many many companies do quite well doing business with PCC and so did this guy. BUT…. The details are murky but LSBO used to have this rep, who by all accounts was a real jerk. An abusive, abrasive guy who infuriated everyone. He was mildly famous and if you ask around, most everyone agreed, He was very unlikable. So this guy, perhaps to bolster his shallow and vain personality drove around in a classic Porsche. But my friend, He also collects and knows a lot about classic cars. In the course of business the LSBO rep screwed over,, Lets call him F. So F claimed it was a convoluted series of deals but in the end there was a $30,000 dollar discrepancy. The details of which made it hard to just take PCC to court but it was a pretty clear cut case of cheating and not a small sum. $30k is a yearly salary for some people and a very expensive and painful blow to anyone.Worse, this LSBO PCC rep was known for doing such things and took great pleasure in doing so, and then bragged about it as if it was something to be proud of. Lets just say Mr F was VERY VERY angry and after expending a great deal of time and energy sat back and stewed and plotted his revenge. It turned out quite simple. You see, the engines on vintage Porsches are made out of certain materials. And if you know metallurgy and chemistry, well,, bad things can happen. Mr F is well versed in these fields and decided to go medieval and hit this guy where it hurt. Mr F knew it was not directly PCCs issue,, it was the rep. So one day, during business, right there at the LSBO plant on Johnson Creek road, There in the parking lot sat the reps Porsche. Mr F drove up, strode over to the Porsche, Opened the engine compartment and poured in a liquid. Closed the hatch and calmly returned to his vehicle and drove away.Did it like he owned the place and nobody thought anything about it. But shortly afterwards smoke started pouring out of the engine compartment. Chemistry, was in ACTION! Nothing you can do at this point. The Chemical reaction set in motion a complete melt down and a resulting fire destroying the Porsche. Not long afterwards PCC decided they had enough of the reps antics and sent him packing down the road. Your services no longer needed. Goodbye! Now,, Mr F. The statute of limitations has passed. Some of those involved or worked there all knew what happened and why. Might even be some surveillance tape. No charges were ever laid, No arrests, Nothing more was done. But for about 8–10 years Mr F refused to ever do anymore work for PCC and his shops skills are in high demand. This also hurt PCC and it took a LOT of sweet talking and many years but my understanding is they do business again but for a very long time Mr F hung up on PCC reps and kicked them off his property when they came to beg and plead for his services. So, I personally strongly recommend you never try this. Its certain it wont work out for you, its exceptionally rare such things work out for anyone. But in this case, this rare case… It was revenge served. And…. That product rep knew what a mistake he made.Again,,, I had nothing to do with it, but if you ask around,, This is a well known story. And again, Sad that a beautiful car died for the sins of its owner. So, rather than end on a sad note,, Lets vow to be positive and think happy thoughts!
